I actually played it this weekend of my own volition, believe it or not. The game isn't a masterpiece but it's fun enough. I've put 25 hours into it so far; you'll definitely get your $13 worth if you're at all interested in sci-fi RPGs.

Eh, at this point, I'll wait for EA Access to pick it up in a month or two. I was willing to go for the PS4 version for the Pro support if I could find it for a fiver but I think I'll enjoy it more for the low price of "free."

I really wish this had turned out better, watching one of my favorite IPs from last generation die a quick, painful death from an aggressively mediocre entry is sad.

We all agree it will go even cheaper later this year right? If I'm not gonna play it right away I should wait?

Also how's the multiplayer holding up?

Halve these people saying not worth it probably didn't even play the game and if they did they probably didn't finish it. Having played this game to completion it is absolutely worth 13 dollars and your time

I never thought I'd see a day when I (and others) still debate if a sub $15 price is worth it for a Mass Effect game within the same year as its release. The mighty has fallen :(

It's not all bad. But you have to waste a lot of time for that mediocre content. Spend your time playing a better game!

Even free it’s not worth it. Game enters the realm of your free time being more valuable than money.

Is the game really that bad?

No. GAF(or the gaming community all over the internet in general) is hyperbole city.

The game is not a masterpiece, it's not as good or memorable as the trilogy, but it's still worth playing it once if you enjoy WRPGs, sci-fi and third person shooters

If that's the case, there's quite a lot to like in this game if you can tolerate it's biggest flaws like the constant need to travel from one planet to another without a quick travel option, or the repetiveness going on after a certain point (find vaults, attack enemy base, get planet viability to 100%, move on to the next) outside of main & loyalty quests.

I wouldn't call it bad, just bland and kind of disappointing. It's not nearly as bad as people say it is...but it's still hard to recommend, honestly. If you've got limited gaming time there are plenty of way better and more interesting gaming experiences just this year.

So much this, there are so many other good games I haven't even gotten to yet. This Is bottom of the barrel I am bored and nothing to do so I will try. Rip Mass Effect, I really enjoyed 1&2.

Did anyone make a summary about why this game is so bad? I hear disjointed stuff like how the game is grindy, the dialogue and animations are bad and so on, but I don't have a cohesive picture of it.
Basically, at launch, what you got was a rushed game made in 18 months that had bad animations, a rough script, all sorts of bugs, bad pacing at the start, and lots of bloat. After release, they fixed a lot of the animations and bugs, but in the game's stock configuration, there's still lots of time sinks (for instance, really long planet landing animations, the load doors on Kadara, and the slow speed of the Nomad).

If you play it on PC, mods allow you to minimize a lot of questionable time sinks and grinding elements, which makes speeding through the main quests a lot easier.

At this point it’s not about the price of the game, it’s be value of my time.

From everything I’ve read and heard and tried (through the trial) it’s just not an interesting or fun game

depends how much you value your time.

Of course the game is worth 13$... but is it worth 50-90 hours of your life? Probably not. But thats entirely up to you

I feel like I wasted more than playing Andromeda than having fun with the game. Sure, there is some good to it, but it's little and far between. If you avoid every fetch quests and do only a fraction of the secundary missions it might be worth $10 and 20 hours.

Or just skip it. One year from now you won't be able to tell if you played it or not.

I tried the demo just to try character customization.

Worst character creator in my time of playing games across 25 years when I started at the age of 5.

I can't even begin to try the game because I can't make a non shit looking avatar.

So now even at the price of free I could never get into this.

For that price? Definitely get it.

I just started over with a new game. I did get it on launch but after hearing about all the patches that were coming I decided to wait, and I'm glad I did. The experience feels overall improved.

Is it as good as the original trilogy? Hell no. Is it a good Mass Effect spinoff? Yes.

This is a fair complaint. The character creator is easily worse than any other modern Bioware game.

I live in Spain and shipping costs ramp up.
Fair enough

I bought it for $15 last week, and then promptly redeemed it on the wrong* Origin account. Also Amazon doesn't do that post-purchase price adjustment anymore.

*I've had an origin accout for years with a bunch of purchased and free games on it, but when playing EA games on the PS3/4, EA creates a dummy Origin account for you using whatever e-mail is tied to your PSN account

It will be on Origin Access before year end. There are much better games that are worth the time, money is not even the main issue here.

Free time is worth a lot to me. I'm not saying I'll never give this game a serious spin, but pricetag has very little to do if I play a game or not. Admitedly, the publisher itself not thinking the story add-ons they planned were worth releasing says a lot. Every single signal I have about this game (professional, editorial, and personal) tells me its a huge fucking waste of time.
