Was in a defense mission on Jupiter with two MR 17 people yesterday, one Prime Ember and one Prime Hydroid. Was the first time with so much mayhem going on for me. I was actually not sure if I was really helping in that case, tried to maintain my Snow Globe and sniping thougher enemies with Paris crits. One guy tried to tell me something during the mission but never finished his sentence, not sure if I actually messed up somewhere. Got to 20 waves though.
Frost Prime is a pretty fun frame, I actually like all 4 of his abilities.
Also got a Paris Prime as my first fully farmed Prime piece, so that's nice.
Been playing around with Nyx a bit, but not sure how to use her well. I guess you need duration mods to make her charme attacks last longer?

Plains of Eidolon is targeted for November on consoles.
Nyx is all about crowd control, at least until you get the augment for her fourth ability, in which case she becomes a good tank too. Having good duration, range, and efficiency helps her a lot. She's pretty squishy without her abilities.
Unless you were keeping snow globes up in multiple locations, you were doing fine. Just having a Frost with a snow globe on the objective is helpful in defense, even if your damage isn't the best. Just make sure you don't place snow globes in places where enemies can use them for cover and you're good.

You were probably fine since you made it to 20 in a PUG. That's what I aim for on my Ember anyway, and the main reason I want other people present is for more enemy spawns so I can get more energy/loot/affinity/focus/etc. Up to 20 her 4th takes care of most enemies before they even reach the objective. So like VandalD said, as long as you weren't throwing globes up and leaving them all over then it probably was fine.
As for Nyx, I have a Chaos and Absorb build. Chaos is probably easier to build for and the focus is on Range, Duration, and Efficiency. Strength isn't important. Mine looks like:
Energy Siphon/Corrosive Projection
Cunning Drift
Vitality
Constitution
Streamline
Overextended
Primed Continuity
Primed Flow
Stretch
Chaos Sphere
If you're newer then you likely don't have the primed ones, so it's fine to substitute them with the normal variant. Other than that only Overextended can be sorta a pain to get.

Since you're just starting I'm only going to list some of the easier mods:
Rejuvenation - Aura
Vitality
Steel Fiber
Stretch
Armored Agility
Intensify
Streamline
Flow
Last slot I left open because you'll eventually put a ability augment in that slot, but for the time being you can place whatever you like. So If you feel you need more survivability then Redirection or Vigor might be good for now. If you want to freeze things longer then Continuity.
A mid/end-game Frost is going to look very different from that though, but that's going to require corrupt mods and such.
Also don't worry about maxing any the 10 rank mods yet. Get them all to like 8 when you can, then 10 down the line.

Relatively easily. Frame parts can be gotten by completing quests and farming the planet bosses. The tricky part is getting more slots. You have to trade for platinum with other users in trade chat to buy slots to hold those extra frames in your inventory.

Any reason to keep duplicate mods or should I dismantle them for endo?

Platinum can only really be gotten by purchasing or trading for it from other players. You can also get some for free if you have PS+.
The only other way to obtain it is getting lucky and winning it in a stream or whatever they do on occasion.

Just started playing last night, and it's a combination of being impressed and overwhelmed. I want to play more, but I'm afraid I'm going to get buried by all the grind that goes into this one...though I did put plenty of time into Destiny 1 and Diablo 3 (to an extent), and enjoyed grinding in those, so we shall see.
I'm also conflicted as to whether I should jump ship to the PC version - though I did just claim the Twitch Prime rewards on my PS4 account. I have no interest in playing with a mouse and keyboard, so I might just stay put.

I must have played for 30 minutes when it first came out and was immediately underwhelmed, but it controls and plays really nicely which was a pleasant surprise. Shooting is not as sticky as in Destiny (which is helpful for an old-timer like myself), but it still feels good.

What me and my buddy do whenever we start a session in Warframe is ask each other what we need. It might go something like "I need an argon to make this pistol", "I need to get the parts for Atlas", "I want to forma my Trinity so I can slot this augment", "I need a Nikana Prime handle to get the next Syndicate promotion", etc. We usually have a few goals each, so we just decide on something fun and go. If that starts to become a grind we switch goals.
Next time we meet up we might go back to one of earlier goals for a little bit. It keeps the hunt from becoming a grind because there are always alternative things to do.

Platinum is the real money currency so you can only get it buying it with real money, trading an item in exchange for it from another player, or recieving it in a giveaway of some type either from DE themselves or a partner like a website or a streamer who was given platinum codes by DE to give away to people.

Most you buy on the market for credits.
Several complete sets (Banshee, Volt, Nehza, Zephyr and Wukong) are available in the Tenno Lab in the clan dojo. You just have to farm the resources to craft them.
I usually suggest new players farm up the parts for Rhino by running the boss on Venus until you get the BPs for his parts (Systems, Chassis and Neuroptics). His main BP (and many others) is sold in the market for credits. He's good because you can get a lot of mileage out of him even without investing an Orokin Reactor to increase his mod capacity. He's durable and simple to learn, and he'll get you through many quests and the solar system.
If you didn't mind the grind in Diablo or Destiny, you'll like Warframe. Unlike those games, you are always getting meaningful stuff...at least once you figure out the basics, because it's based at least as much on crafting and modding as it is on random luck.
We're here for advice and such, and when you're ready to clan up, we'll have a spot for you.

Youll have to go into recruitment tab In the chat and find people that way.
It won't be hard to find help if you build keys. People want Orokin Cells, Neurodes and Nekros parts.

Also, Ive linked twitch to my account. How long does it take to get the Warframe? It said upon login, so I logged out and in but I couldnt find it.
So Nyx is nearly rank 30, will probably shelf her for the time being since I didn't quite find my groove with her, although I'll definitely revisit her when I have more mod and weapon options available.
Oberon is next. I'm probably not at the point where getting plat via trading is really viable, or am I wrong? Will probably spend a few on plat for frame and weapon slots, the devs definitely deserve my money anyway.

The main things people trade for are prime parts, rare mods (not just colored as rare, but mods that are actually hard to get and are desired), and riven mods. If you have any of these things, you could potentially make some plat through trading.

So the thread about the polygon article got me interested in checking out warframe again. I last tried it in 2014 and it just didn't click. I must saw wow I'm really impressed and amazed at the game now. I'm still confused on several things but the game is leaps and bounds from what I played years ago. Looking forward to really sinking my teeth into this game and looking forward to the big update coming out.

Bring an Ivara with the Infiltrate augment or a Limbo if lasers are getting you down. Both of them can stroll right through them, and Ivara's dashwire also comes in real handy to cross large areas and laser pits while maintaining stealth. I have a particular efficiency build for Ivara that lets me keep stealth up 90% of the time in those missions, with stealth kills helping to keep my energy up.
Running them solo is also easier, or if in a group leave it to one player to run the data hack puzzle areas while the others hold down the fort and help out between nodes. The more players try the more risk of failure. And take the time to explore each area because there are always multiple ways to go, with some of the them doable in seconds without needing any special tricks. Last bit, its handy to include the Intruder mod in your frame (you can exilus slot it), as it slows any hacks down to a crawl, which especially helps with late game Corpus hacks (solid Corpus hack trick:
Start with the three branches, then the two branches, then the single branches and finally the middle if needed
If you don't have an Ivara and try to get her parts you'll be a black belt in Spy missions by the end of that road, guaranteed. You might also go insane. Its about an even chance.
Other than that, git gud ;p

I hated regular Spy missions until I took the time to learn them for Ivara and some mods. Now they're a breeze. I learned them on Limbo but now I just take Loki to higher ones and any frame I am currently on to lower ones.

Yeah it looks like trying to specifically get certain warframes is going to be a bitch. I have Mag because that's who I picked at the start of the game back in 2014 or something and I got Frost Prime by linking up my account to my Twitch. Leveled both up to 30 and have no idea when I'll be able to get a new warframe without spending platinum.
Depends on the frame, really. Most of the ones that come from assassination missions aren't too bad to farm. Rhino would be the first one available to you, as he drops from Venus assassination. He's a great first frame to build, especially with Mag as your starter, as he's a much tankier option than her.

Recently got into Warframe and I'm enjoying my time. So many changes have occurred from the last time I played.

Have to say, though, that I'm pretty shocked by how good this game is.
I got the free frame from Amazon but otherwise not sure what to even do. They could really use some extra love on the UI/mission structure front. That said, I'm sure I'll pick it up soon.

Are you running the thief's wit mod on your warframe?
Had it at rank 4 and was quite easy to get the required three by going through Mars normally. Might be easier to do it solo so you can searh the whole map if need be.

There is always one in each mission, you just have to find them.
If you don't spot them in the normal course of a mission, start going off the beaten path and away from the objective. Also, look up - a lot of levels have all kinds of stuff up in the rafters, and through ventilation grates and small tunnels.
And yeah, as bobohoro says, thief's wit definitely helps you discover those areas, and marks fragments and loot on your radar.

Well, now that I know ciphers exist I beat that spy mission pretty easily. The market is so messy that I didn't thoroughly look through it because it seemed like everything costs platinum.
Anyone know where I can farm plastids? I looked online and out of the planets available to me it seems in supposed to farm phobos. But is there a specific mission or specific types of containers in the levels that have them? They didn't specify.
