EA Sports UFC 2 |OT| Let's all play touch butt

So I bought the game the other week. I have mixed feelings about it.

The blocking should have stayed the same as the first game. R2 with high and low strike buttons for parries. I don't have the reaction time to switch between R1 and R2 while also parrying.

This new clinch and ground system is not good. I can appreciate the change-up because the last game had a watered down version of a ground game. UFC 2 adds a bit more but it's still watered down, and it's clunky. It's tough to block transitions and simply get the fuck up. I like that it also drowns your stamina but it drains too much!

I'm still learning the game. I was pretty damn good at UFC1 but this one is taking some getting used to.

Glad they're updating it regularly. Some of those changes sound good. Will have to jump back in soon when I get the chance.

I'd have liked to see some work to the submission game and ground game in general to be honest, hopefully that'll come in the future. Making submissions harder to pull off seems abit crazy. I haven't been on in about 1.5 weeks but I've literally never lost a match in my 10+ hours playtime to a submission.

Yeah literally only happens to me in UT when my guy has a 55 ground rating in Division 4/5 and my opponent is all about the ground game. Other than that, it rarely happens.

I won my first match online today, but it wasn't an optimal experience as the lag is killing me so far. -_-

But anyway, it was a fun match, Bruce Lee guys have not changed their style since the last game, all spinning shit lol, so I countered his spinning shit with a flying knee to lay him out.

I hate these servers. The last 2 times I managed to get to a championship fight in ranked, I was disconnected both times in the middle of a match. I was given the loss too. Me and this guy were having an amazing fight. I was Eddie Alvarez he was Dustin Poirier. I rocked him twice in the first and once in the second. He came on strong in the third. Hurt me and took me down but I did stun him again right at the bell. Fourth round starts and i'm disconnected.

I haven't been able to tell the changes too much as I surprisingly haven't had any spin to win or muay thai spam.

The amount of times I parry other people's punches and follow up with a knee to the head or an uppercut and they just eat them like it's nothing is so annoying.

Does stamina make more sense after the patch? Talk of one guy throwing 1000 punches/kicks having the same stamina as his opponent throwing 100 turns me way off from buying it.

I was hoping somewhere mixed in with the spammers (that should lose) there would be chess match type fights, like working a section of the body methodically that's left open a lot, keeping your opponent back with the jab and conserving energy for pushes near the ends of rounds etc.

I played last night against my friend and I kept targeting his body and the indicator was blinking red yet his stamina was barely affected.

Stopped playing Ultimate Team. Realized there's no point in boosting up my fighters since I hate playing with CAFs. Just gonna mess around with Ranked and Unranked fights for the time being.

Hopefully EA goes the Madden/FIFA route with UT next year.

Beat EviLore at pool.
Picked up this game last week after my ea access ran out. It is such a fun game especially playing with friends.

Total fight stats mean nothing. How the action broke down per each round allows one to have better context on what's going on.

Wait...it's a video game though. There is no like, real judge perception and opinion.
It is literally all based on numbers.

Been playing this game for 2 weeks now. I guess i am very masochistic because I've only won 2 fights and lost 30 in UT online and I still love this game.

UT is the way to go. Any tips for raising a fighter faster? Basic packs don't seem to help much and specials seem too overpriced for me.

I haven't played much UT but if you want to play some matches for fun, or just want to practice with a live player, let me know. I almost always play everyday.

For anyone that cares, a new patch dropped yesterday. Added 2 new fighters and changed some things around. Here are the notes:

Damm, i think the groundgame is so hard in this one, in the first it was pretty easy to understand and fun to play, i played the first one so many hours..... And i am playing this one much to, but i am struggeling with the groundgame to a point were i soon delete the game and dl the first one again.

I just want the groundgame to klick but watching the inputs on screen and holding the analog stick and watch when the opponents moves and in what direction and time that, i dont know....

Anyone been in My situation and got the groundgame to klick?

I have been watching vids on yt so i know what to do but i dont get it to klick, Love everything else about the game, but if i aint get the hang with the groundgame in a mmagame...

So... anyone still playing this? EA dropped a new patch last night but it seems like the game gets more arcadey with each update.

I still play this game nearly everyday. I like that they've continued to support the game. Most of the patches they've done have been great. Is the game perfect? No. There's still lots of issues I have and things that need to be addressed...hopefully they will on the next UFC game, but overall, they've done a pretty good job. They've added lots of new fighters, and tweaked things that usually need tweaking. This is what the latest one does.

Updates
Added three new fighters; Nikita Krylov in Light Heavyweight; Jimmie Rivera in Bantamweight; Jake Matthews in Lightweight
Added Anthony Pettis and Renan Barão to Featherweight
Updated moves for various fighters
Ultimate Team players now earn a reward pack for their first win of the day in Ultimate Championships
Gameplay
Added increased damage to any round strike that connects with an opponent who lunges sideways into it
Added the ability for the DOM fighter to break out of a single leg attempt after reversing into that position from SUB side control
Fixed the Stamina setting in Practice Mode
Fixed bug where cancelling the SUB transition from postured up half guard to guard would interrupt all DOM strikes

Not sure how I feel about more damage to lunging sideways. I haven't played enough to see how big of an effect it will have, but I like using my movement.

The patch also buffed some fighters, and added some moves to others. Patch notes don't mention that. I know TJ Dillashaw and Rafael Dos Anjos no longer have the superman punch. They both have overhands now. Cain Velasquez got the spinning heel kick to the head. I heard Lorenz Larkin got a buff to his kicks. Apparently Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida got buffed as well. I'm sure there are others too.

I am playing the first one, but will comment here anyway :p

I was fighting Wanderlei Silva, was beating him all round long, knocked him down 2 times, in both times I came on top of him and he was almost dead, then suddenly he was super storng again, turned the ground around was on top of me and almost destroyed me with a few punches. On the second one he did KO me. A few seconds before I did a 8 punches/kicks combo and then that happens. Unreal.

It makes me angry that you are destroying him the the point that you knock him down, and a milisecond after he is strong and turn the situation completely.

And will they ever offer me more than one fight? Because for now they offer me only one and I cant reject it...

Is the UFC 2 much better than the first? The ground game is bery weak, once things go to the ground I cant do anything, I maxed my ground skills (80 or 85) and I still cant move when someone is on top of me, I cant cancel their passes... its annoying.

So i used to play the UFC Undisputed games a bunch and EA MMA was basically my go to online game for most of it's active existence, i played the first one of this and had some fun and i really feel like jumping in just for fun, even if it happens to not be very active or so.

With that out, are there still an okay amount of people playing this? And if so, how's the online?

Oh uh, is the career mode fun.

I just wanna knock people out and the physics seem fun as fuck in this

Progress works well without microtransactions and stuff? I've heard alot about the fifa versions of ultimate team being very pay2win, but maybe that just applies to the online.

I've never spent a dime and I've got like 500 of those energy pack things. I also don't play daily, just whenever I feel like slugging the AI to sleep.

FWIW, I traded the game in earlier this year, missed it so much that I bought it digital when it went on sale for $10. It's a fun game.

Thanks, will buy and get smacked around by the AI cause i can never learn them in these.

The best part about Ultimate Team is that somehow people playing the offline mode and still don't understand that they are playing against AI. I get a message a month from somebody whining about how my win was cheap.

Should still be around 15k~ people online for this game (PS4). I think you'll have the most fun doing Quick Match. Anything competitive people tend to be incredibly cheesy in their choice of combinations.

Career mode, eh. I finished it but I did not find it memorable.

Anyway since this thread got bumped, we already had some features confirmed for the third game, which are running, strike cancels, and from what has been said so far, the striking is going to be amazing.

And the trailer may be happening around the November 4th UFC event, if not a few days sooner.

I am very excited after hearing some things about the next game.

Did you hear the rumor that PRIDE is making a return?

Yeah I heard the rumor. It is based on the motion capture session with Justin Trudeau, I was hoping it ment the same, but then some GameChangers that actually played the game said it wasn't related to Pride at all.

Surely they would not let the cat out of the bag, but at this point I'd be very surprised if Pride makes the cut. One of them questioned its importance entirely and I don't think thats something he'd do if we were actually going to be seeing it.

Fingers crossed, but not much hope. Especially since they got rid of Mike Goldberg, they had to find a new commentator in his spot (which btw is Jon Anik).

I'd be really surprised if they found time/budget to make another presentation in the form of Pride that had its own commentary team and atmosphere.

https://twitter.com/JonBrown1130/status/865297164368400388 here is the mo-cap session anyway. Someone else pointed out that its a 4-rope ring, not 5-ropes like Pride. I am not sure what the purpose of this session was or if they were just messing around there. I doubt they'd have him record anything serious after all.

It'd be awesome if they had it in it, but I'm not holding my breath. Any word on if its 60fps this time around? It would REALLY benefit the gameplay.
