Dave Bautista should be the next Terminator

Look at this guy.

No one will ever be Arnie, but Bautista could be the next best thing.

he's incredible on GotG, and i heard great stuff about him on BR 2049. so glad he found success as an actor.

I was blindsided by him in it. It's a small role, but a very serious one that required a lot of nuance to pull off. He was perfect. It's clear he's got both comedic and dramatic acting skill to spare.

I really hope he lands more roles, but I'm not sure anchoring himself to Terminator is the way to go.

Looks wise, I'd give the role to Cena before Bautista. But he has become such a good actor.

Agreed.

But even before Cena I would think that they would find someone younger.

Bautista and Cena are awesome, but they're both getting up there in years (48 and 40 respectively) so if they wanted to continue the franchise with someone that they could keep calling 10-20 years from now it would have to be someone in their 20's.

dont think so either. it worked with Arnold for a multitude of reasons. it worked with his limitations, which Dave so far, hasn't shown.

I said it in the official thread but he has a line that is basically the emotional center of the film and gets recalled several times. He delivered it perfectly.

I remember an interview with him around the original GOTG where he said he started to get into acting, figured it wasnÂ’t a big leap from pro wrestling (fair enough), and quickly realized he completely sucked. So he dedicated himself to actually learning how to act. Dude put in the work.

I'd love a Terminator movie where 3-4 people play the (liquid) terminator, to emphasize the fact that they can change form easily. And yeah, Bautista would be fantastic.

It'd make the most sense narratively if the Terminator looked more unassuming and "normal".

True but they can always handwave that away with an in-universe explanation that the T800 model of Terminator requires a larger body due to its machinery size. They were seen being used just as regular infantry combatants, so it's not a total stretch to say Skynet didn't build them solely around infiltration. They might have come up with that plan afterwards as a sort of ulterior use.

He was great in both 2049 and the short.

Batista has really developed as an actor and absolutely deserves to be in more challenging roles.

Bautista was indeed amazing in Blade Runner. He was so large and intimidating, but really expressed just how vulnerable he really was despite his size. More acting chops on him than most any other wrestler.

He could make a terrifying
or friendly
terminator. I'm more than OK with this.

I've honestly loved him in every film I have seen him in so far.

He has a super small but crucial role in Blade Runner, I was surprised how confident he was. Honestly, he's probably right up there in people I'd consider for the role.

Yeah, I remember reading about that. He didn't wing it, he got to work learning the craft.

I know what line you refer to in 2049, and agree. His was a character that needed to resonate through the film, despite only appearing early on, and I don't think most actors would have pulled that off. He did.

I haven't seen the shorts that were put out online, but I've heard he's in at least one of them, so I'll check them out.

Cameron's original concept for the Terminator was that he be an ordinary-looking, nondescript guy who could blend into a crowd, and he had Lance Henriksen in mind to play him. He interviewed Arnold for the role of Reese, but when Arnold expressed interest in the Terminator role, Cameron saw the possibilities and changed the concept for the character.

For sure, he's got surprisingly great range and depth as an actor.

Just the 2048 short, but itÂ’s entirely focused on him, and letÂ’s him show off some extra range.

Fatal mistake:
He's not white.

You think White America wants a non-white Terminator? lmao

I don't think this is a franchise where fans would care about that sort of thing. It's not like James Bond fans.

Consider that other candidates for an Arnold-esque Terminator would include The Rock and Terry Crews. Neither of them would lower box office numbers lol especially not the Rock.

Rock did the same thing - hired acting coaches and went hard on it.

It's one of those things that's a very good idea for pro wrestlers to invest in if they can.

I was skeptical of Bautista as an actor at first, but he's been really good in everything I've seen him in so far, so bring on more Bautista I say.

Man I feel sorry for you... truly pitiful.
