Since the debut of Netflix’s hotly-anticipated The Witcher adaptation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s player numbers of on Steam have been skyrocketing. Now, over four years after its 2015 release, CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed RPG has recorded its highest ever peak concurrent player count at 94,451

It will be fascinating to hear how the impact of Netflix’s show has positively impacted CD Projekt Red’s revenue for the period. During its previous earnings call, there was no mention of any projected influence from the show, but it’s almost certainly going to have had an impact if the Steam numbers are reflecting new purchases of the game.

The show obviously has had an effect. The game is also on sale for £10 for the GOTY version, which i believe is the cheapest its ever been on Steam up to now.
Noticed a lot of streamers playing Witcher 3 again.

The books are great. If you're into The Witcher, you have to give the books a read.

So far I played W2, W3 and watched the show. Too bad I didn't had the books when I was in the hospital, I can't find time to read in "normal" circumstances. Maybe someday...

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I would like Witcher 4 to have co-op, but be designed for solo play. That way I can enjoy the solo campaign but also bring another person in to the world for the monster slaying lulz
Oh my god. Fuck no.

This is a terrible opinion and you should feel bad for having it.

All kidding aside, different strokes for different folks.

IMO, no form of multiplayer should ever be allowed anywhere near the Witcher games.

I finally started playing Witcher 3 a few months back.

It's a great game, but a bit daunting in scope. Idk why, but I never really feel that way about The Elder Scrolls.

I don't mean multiplayer like they do nowadays, where a game is either solo or made for more than 3 people. I mean old school style multiplayer like Baldurs gate. That game worked solo and played differently in co-op. Each mode was fun. Or like Divinity OS 1 and 2, amazing game solo, amazing game in co-op.

CDPR have the talent to make it work in a good balance

Maximize their talent by not adding pointless crap. Stay strong on providing the best single player experience.

Well, I hope that now the Writer and CDP have resolved their differences that we get to further games. I know that CDP pooh-poohed the idea of any more Geralt focussed titles, but frankly I'd be up for more, or at the very least extensive reworking/remasters of both 1 & 2.

I haven't watched it yet but let me guess, SJW critics doesn't think there are enough POC?

No. They're hitting their diversity quotas, it's more a case of 'this is clearly a GOT rip-off so I'm going to shit on it, because GOT is no longer cool' sort of thing. Even though the Book series has been out almost as long at ASOIAF.

For sure cause of the netflix series, amazing that the game still has legs.

One of those games that I really don't get. I liked The witcher 2 but 3... I just couldn't get into it.

Yeah I'm trying to resist the urge to replay the first game (I played it back before it was 'enhanced') as I know that would invariably lead me down the long garden path of then playing 2 & 3 after for the complete Witcher single run playthrough experience, which given how I play (ball achingly slowly because I've gotta turn over every rock and open every draw in the game in case I miss something) would be a serious time commitment.

I'm still going through the DLC. 250+ hours in. My problem is I stop to check out everything on the map. Then new quests open up and distracts me further. I beat the game 2 years ago and have been slowly working at finishing the entire thing.

But, but, muh DRM and muh piracy

This..... so much this.
This single player RPG released completely DRM free from day 1 ... and here we are over 4 years later with almost 100K concurrent players on Steam alone.

It's almost as if DRM has never been about Piracy and is more about making sure people have as little ownership as possible over their digital purchases

I think you either liked the show a lot..... or should be using ">>>>>>" instead

Everyone needs to stop sleeping on Witcher 2 which has a more “grand” and imo better story.

I beat 1 & 3, but I honestly struggled with the 2nd one once I hit the second act. For some reason, I just seem to lose momentum at that point. It is something I hope to rectify though. the aim is at some point to replay 1, to then carry the save through to 2 and 3. I'm fairly sure there must be some sort of Nobel peace prize for such an achievement 🤔

I'm about to play Witcher 3 again, was debating on continuing into the DLC or going back and playing the whole game again, ultimately now that I know so much more story I'll enjoy it even more. The majority of my initial play was wandering doing every small town job so that when I did the story I was super OP and never really did much but go through the motions

This is pretty helpful to anybody just wanting to embark on a new campign: https://kotaku.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-the-world-of-the-witcher-1704506152

-Replay update... Decided to forego restarting over, I'm currently in the 30's of leveling having just completed the main story line and conveniently set myself at a save point where I had all tasks completed to start either expansion story. Going to go back and hit every question mark in the world before starting the expansions. I will complete all witchery in one shot!

Well deserved, great game! Only thing that pisses me off is that they removed all of the xp exploits. Why is that a thing with a single player game? I want to do another Death March play-through, on New Game+ at level 100, however, it is INSANELY difficult to get to level 100 on play through 1 now that all of the xp exploits have been removed (console).

Single player game, let me use xp exploits if I want! What is their problem with this? I have 100% percent on the game, so don't give me that trophies garbage. There is NO multiplayer, etc.

It is pretty cool to run through the game at level 100, all items/enemies are basically at your level when you start New Game+, so there are tons of fun encounters and viable weapon/armor options. Without this option, only the same handful of things are interesting/useful, rendering everything else crap. I did a Level 100 run on a friends PC, which was fantastic. But since I am stuck on PS4, I get shit. Maybe I will look into some of those save exploit options, :pie_thinking:
