Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 - MGS1 Port Takes 10~ Seconds to "Pause" Game

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Are you guys ready for a terrible conversion?

Note: This is for the new feature of being able to pause cut-scenes, in the video you can see the player pauses in a cut-scene, but it takes approximately 10 seconds for the pause menu to actually show up. This does not effect bringing up the codec menu in the game etc.

which specific place are you talking about? I see the player pause on accident and it only takes a sec.

Right at the start when the submarine insertion scene is happening, he presses pause, you hear the pause sound, the screen freezes for around 10 seconds, then the pause menu pops up.

What a damn shame, MGS is one of my favorite video game series ever created. If the rest of the ports run smoothly I'll probably still buy it but will feel dirty while doing so.

Honestly, considering Konami's track record, I wasn't expecting this to come out perfect and clean. It's why I was so confused that there was preloading for it. Hopefully it DOES get cleaned up though.

You couldn't pause during cutscenes in the original game. It would just skip them. Also that in the video doesn't look like the normal pause screen. I haven't watched the whole video but there is no way the normal pausing takes that long during gameplay.

Yes, the ability to pause cut-scenes is a new one, but it looks like a pretty bad implementation of it.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here. On Reddit, some people are saying it is only the European version of the game.

Others are saying it does not affect Switch or Xbox versions. I’m not sure what is true.

The cutscene pause screen is not part of the actual game so I don't think its a big problem.
This needs to be in the OP. You could not pause in the original game. I can hardly blame anyone for some technical difficulties when adding new features, considering how old the game is.

I've skimmed through the rest of the video and it seems...fine? Seems like a faithful conversion of the original MGS.

Why do people buy these garbage "ports"? I use quotes because it's clearly not a port, it's just emulation, bad one at that.
