Either the poll is going haywire or the paradigm shifted around alot ; but right now, the Cthuluphant, Durandal and the Ameoba are tied at 15 % vote each, while Arachnoshark is at 12 %.
It's an all around much closer race.

For inhouses, I think right now we have to keep track of who is actually a smurf/basic account and as such can only play All Pick and the legacy players. Because quite honestly, we shouldn't be playing All Pick when we have the choice not to. Else the best of GAF picks their carry of choice (...repeatedly) and...yeah. Not fun for me, not fun for any of the newest players and quite frankly, I suspect it can't be too fun to gank noobies repeatedly either.
Where's all that goodwill to take the players who came with the last 10 $ sale under your wings, folks? Where is our guidance and advice? T_T

I'm pretty sure azuki is the only one that repeatedly picks his melee hard carries (or his flint). I know for me personally, I've been playing a crap ton of pyro, witch, pebbles, polly, and one game of devo so that I can get better with those heroes. That one smurf game everyone picked good heroes because we could only pick from a pool of 10, but that was just one smurf game for fun--90% of the time the teams will be hand balanced, and most players will pick heroes they feel like playing or want to get better at.

Yeah. Most of them appear to just be fairly generic aesthetic designs. For example, the robo-shark thing at the end doesn't even have any suggested skills at all.
I do like the idea of the Durandel though, it's like a hero based around Steamboots stat switching but on a bigger scale. It'd take tons of tweaking but it's a neat idea.

Pubs aside, it would be like if (terrible analogy incoming) you got a small starting health/damage bonus in a fighting game for choosing a random character. Mastery over most/all heroes in the game - while impressive - shouldn't be worth a gold boost/clear early game advantage, IMHO.
Is the option still there in public games?
In any case, I think the real reason it was removed was because of the limited pool that free players have to play with, and I guess it's unfair or something if their "random" pick is actually a "one of these 15 heroes" pick.

We're all welcome to help, but sometimes you have to let everyone know that you are looking for it. If you don't say anything, we won't know if you're brand new, have played DotA before, are a LoL player, have an idea of the game, and so on. A lot of people don't spend a ton of their time watching anyone else but themselves, especially if they don't need to in the case of not knowing whether a player needs some help. And as for the rest, we don't want to dump excessive amounts of knowledge on you when you might be better off learning from the experience, or we just don't want to sound like pretentious ragers.Guesong said:

It is true that the rest of gaffers don't give in to that practice, and I thank them for it.
Sometimes I just feel so helpless (like yesterday vs Bombardier) but no questions come to mind about it. It's just me not being good enough mechanically to try to stay out of range at all time (cause that Sticky Bomb of his is so OP).
I guess I'll just swallow my pride the next time and ask on Mumble. I fear most of my problems are mechanical at their core though.

Like, I'm terrible, and I've only played something like 6 games in Casual mode, but I wouldn't want to be taught at the complete expense of someone's enjoyment. If they like being a carry, then let 'em. Personally I need more time learning by watching and just playing anyway - melee heroes as a whole just aren't my thing yet, and I don't have the 'feel' for initiation.
Parasite's old ultimate used to absorb a percent of the target's primary attribute, then switch Parasite over to it. My main beef with stat-switching is basically Morphling syndrome. In DotA, Morphling's ult used to him him switch between three different forms. Problem is, you'd always end up building for a single form. The other two forms become useless.Dreavus said:
