Resident Evil 6: Bro-Splosion Announced, Nov 20 PS3/360, PC Later, PR/Trailer In OP

Dudes you want survival horror? Get Dead Space. Likely the first one than the second one. I guess the third one with confirmed dumbing down will be more like Call of Duty: Space.

Well, times changed. There's no goodsurvival horror games, except Amnesia. Resident Evil is just trying to release good games before it becomes another of Capcom's forgotten franchises.

We're not even sure of that, we can say that they're trying to release games, period. We don't even know if RE6 is going to be any good. Judging by the trailer, they wanted to give a certain horror atmosphere, but while still appealing to the masses, hence the Leon and Chris separate paths and distinct "feeling".

As a huge fan of the old Resident Evil games. I welcome this game with open arms.

This game looks so fucking good and maybe it's just me, but each character seems to rely on certain elements moreso than other.

Example
Leon=Survival Horror or if you want to get picky just RE4 style
Chris= More Action oriented so RE5 style
but the last character just looks like a plain action game lmao

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun playing RE5. Even though it was a disappointment, I still put in more hours than I put in plenty of games that has came out recently.

Hnnng Leon. Hnnng Leon's awesome jacket. HNNNigan.

Don't like that Leon looks a bit different, but it's better than Chris' steroid makeover, which brings me to: Chris is in this too? Ew.

Everything's growing on me by the second. Leon part of the game gives me a Raccoon City style incident with more horror, the rest looks like big b-movie monster stuff which I'm also a fan of, and I'm interested in maybe bald Wesker.

It just looks really varied, not a one-note experience but a product with a lot of different tones and styles to offer.

safe!

This game is going to look sick on the PC, hoping for steamworks.

You're excited that developers still can't release a PC version the same time as console?

I think it's a fucking joke, really.

To be honest, QA for PC versions is a *lot* more time-consuming and troublesome than Console QA, simply because there are an infinite combination of Hardware and Software configurations. He's happy because the game even gets a PC release at all (although that was sort of expected from Capcom).

it wasn't really until RE5 that people saw how 'horror' RE4 was. i was always bemused at people who thought 4 wasn't horror. but then i'm still bemused at people who think Dead Space 2 isn't either.

did someone blame DS2 for this, when it's way more horror than RE5 was? whatever.

this thread is greatly amusing me. the trailer was awesome. people are overlooking the parts of Leon's section that were very RE and RE2 for some reason. this clusterfuck of a reaction strikes me as a very positive thing. you know what no one is saying?

'Oh it just looks like RE4 but with forced co-op again'.

it looks like three campaigns each with different focuses. i think you could look at the DLC for RE5 to get an idea of what they might be doing there... or indeed look at Revelations.

I agree with all of that. I just wish that they were still using Leon's old VA cause he was perfect for that character.

Why is Ashley running around doing anything?

I'm glad to see Hunnigan again. I love Leon, but this seems like it might be closer to Degeneration-serious-business Leon rather than RE4-hey-it's-that-dog Leon. Which would be a shame.

The huge scope of this game reminds me of MGS4 in ways I don't like. But it looks like a bigger departure from the past than RE5 was. For better or worse, it should at least have some surprises.

Cautiously optimistic.

Fixed.

But seriously, I actually thought Dead Space 2 pulled off its horror elements slightly better than the first game. I didn't find any part of DS1 to be scary at all, but there were a few sections of DS2 where I thought they pulled off some decent atmosphere tricks. It's just that the action in DS2 was ramped up so much more.

Another TPS :/

Aiming out of cover, sprinting into cover blah blah blah.

Same shit, different name. Guarantee it shares 50% of it's controls layout with other TPS's making it feel even more samey

Bet theres an online mode too when I can shoot 12 year olds.

Leon stuff looked ok.

I thought that Capcom would go back to it's roots? Now, you add slide cover and different locations and you have Resident Metal Gears of Evil (Now with more QTE's and explosions)

I see why a lot of old school fans of RE are pissed.

That was bloody amazing, I wasn't expecting much. It looks like it'll have a decent horror part in the first part of the trailer and then the action game. So no-one can complain. Graphics are unreal, 2012 will definately deliver.

So that was Chris, thought it was someone else initially. He looks better with shorter hair. Why was he so angst though?

I hope Chris punches way bigger boulders this time around. How about a QTE where he punches an asteroid into a space satellite?

lol

Is that Troy Baker voicing the new character? Fucks sake, that dudes voice is really starting to grate. How many more games is he gonna feature in this year.

So we would be able to play 3 characters altogether? If there's co-op (which i think there will be) means a total of 6 characters?

And man to be able to play both Leon and Chris is just awesome. And i like the setting in China, perfect place to have a zombie outbreak there, chaos everywhere!

Looks like there's run and gun this time round...which is good! I like how Dead Space to be able to walk and shoot at the same time while both RE4 and 5 didn't have the option to do that. So pumped for this game already, first trailer and there's so many gameplay shown! This is what you call a announcement trailer!

as ever, you have impeccable taste.

in other words, your taste is exactly the same as mine when it comes to this stuff.

i'm getting an AvP three different styled campaigns vibe.

What? Lots of people have noticed it, it just got saddled with "no horror" due to its more action-based focus than past RE games. But it still maintained elements like extreme isolation, tension and suspense, atmosphere, and foreshadowing to create a horror mood.

Going up the village for the first time, the leadup to Del Lago, El Gigante, It, and a bunch of other bosses, the Novistador sewers, Regenerators, etc. There's a lot of horror elements in RE4.

Don't forget the hedge maze!

I thought that was more like a visual novel?

It's a graphic adventure game with a huge emphasis on story, exploring, and trying not to get killed without relying on weapons.

Is that Troy Baker voicing the new character? Fucks sake, that dudes voice is really starting to grate. How many more games is he gonna feature in this year.

He's Rioichi Cooper in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. That's all I can think of at the top of my head.

And yet this is closer to what I want from RE. So I guess I'm happy. BRING IT ON

Well I'm off to freezeframe the entire trailer for things of note. I'll be back, hopefully with some interesting stuff that's only on screen for a single frame.

Is it just me, or did they cancel Resident Evil Damnation and make it into a game instead?

And for the record, RE4 and 5 were awesome, and this looks amazing
