All of this is happening through Near, right? That sounds really cool. Hopefully there are actually some people around me who pick up a Vita, I'm not exactly located in a densely populated area.
Yup, there were about 6 people around me in a 4 mile radius. And I live kind of away from people so it was nice to see.

Near's interface is really confusing though.
I don't really see myself using this much.

Saw Rayman being played on youtube. Looks so damn nice
I was going buy it on PC, but tages am cry.
Getting it for vita, DD unless the prices at retail post 22nd feb is better.

Really wished Dynasty Warriors Next came out in EU. Would be the perfect game for me!
Btw is there any benefit to sign up for PSB plus for PSP games?
I never paid attention when I had my subscription last year when it came to PSP discounts.

Isn't it coming out in the EU? It's up for pre-order at amazon uk and it's on the playstation site as a launch title.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you gaf.

preordered the 3g launch bundle from amazon.

is the 3g good for occasional web browsing, etc? I'll mostly be using this at home, but I don't have a smart phone and it'd be nice to be able to access internet from out and about.

Here are some (terrible) pictures of the Sony Travel Pouch, if anyone is interested. I took these for another gaffer who asked pre-FEB, so I didn't have a Vita to put in at the time. I can take pictures again with a Vita inside if anyone's interested.

Holds 4 carts and doesn't smell. I'm not sure if I feel safe using it to keep my Vita protected in my bag; I much prefer a hard case. The padding feels okay but not very thick.

Are people using the Vita's media manager to transfer movies/music/pics or is there something else to use, because using the Vita MM is fucking frustrating.

Which fighter looks the best? UMvC3 or Blazblue. I'm pretty good at both fighters on PS3 and can't decide which to get so I'm going to let my choice hinge on graphics......lol

Blazblue gives you more bang for your buck... My advice, take advantage if the Target B2G1 deal.. UMvC3 is a very good title, but lacking in SP content.

I like how it seemed to register a larger area based on where I went. It's not something I will come back to but like the 3DS thing, it's a cool novelty. I've checked it about 4 times since getting the Vita yesterday and some different things have come up like game ratings. It's really neat albeit obviously not essential to use.

People need to get themselves a panel too. I don't want to see simple colors on my friends lists damnit!

From a post yesterday

Damn, the panels are a nice touch in your profile settings. There are TONS of them too from Rogue Galaxy, Ape Escape, Wild Arms, White Knight, Patchwork Heroes, Animals, etc.....

Generic before

For those wondering, panels show up while chatting or in groups (voice chats). It can be a generic color but why would you want that :p

There are crazy amounts so you should find something you like.

Works pretty good for me when using it on PC.

Are you selecting what media to transfer from the Vita or from the PC? Maybe I had the stupids last night but I couldn't even find a download location for a PC version of the media manager, so I only used the one that's built into the Vita OS.

EDIT: Any tips for a Lumines newbie? I'm assuming that I just need to practice but it appears that I'm pretty terrible. I only have 2 people on my friends list that have scores posted and I have a little bit of e-peen envy.

What's wrong with that? I like the ad already.

And post the damn pic smaller. The Vita screen is in pain ><

Nothing wrong with it per se('cept maybe you dont want a pic of a guy taking a shit in your ads), but just like their other ads it does absolutely nothing to sell the Vita to people that don't already want one.

I pinned the app to my taskbar first. I then just start the app on PC and have it running. You don't have to do anything else from the PC side. From there just plug in the Vita via USB and go into the manager in the Vita. There's no wait for the handshake as it's pretty immediate for me.

I was really surprised by Near. I live in a townhouse community so it is pretty packed with families, but when I got home yesterday and had my Vita all set up and ready to play, there were already 9 other people in my radius playing games. It was only like 1pm.

By the end of the day there were 24! Surprised so many people nearby had bought the FEB and were actively using Near sharing. Looking forward to seeing how many more I get next week.

It's a hard game to explain in words. All I can tell you is that I was awful at the game until I kept playing and learned what happens when you place certain combinations of blocks on top of (or over) other specific combinations of blocks. What makes it so great is that it's not just about block placement, but also about timing and speed (both being able to play quickly, and to know when to not place a block quickly). It's absolutely brilliant design, imo, accentuated by an amazingly good soundtrack.

I have no regrets purchasing the Vita. It lives up to every expectation. Even the games some were graphically mixed on like HSG and Uncharted; I think they look phenomenal. Uncharted is near PS3 quality on a handheld.

Unbelievable.

I'll have a NEAR thread later tonight so we can all swap Game Goods. :D

I've noticed that I'm getting Game Goods from friends. I thought it would just be from people who are near me. Interesting. I feel there is a lot left to discover on this thing. Also, I do want that Twitter app on the device. Probably the only app I'm interested in.

The impressions in this thread makes me want to run and buy one :(

I can honestly say, its one of the few consoles that I would tell people to buy day 1. The lauch lineup is great, the screen is jaw-drop worthy, and the feature set it offers is good.

If you've never owned a PSP, or like me, it has been a long time since you've owned one, there is a vast lineup of PSP games to download.

I could go on, but impressions on the thread will say it better than I can.

I'm a bit confused on how I copy PSP content from my PS3 to my Vita. I run Content Manager on my PSV but it still won't let me copy PSP content over. It tells me there is no PS3 connected when I try.

Games are Little Big Planet PSP and Modnation PSP.

Do neither work?

That happened to me and all I had to do was unplug the cord and plug it back in and the screen on the PS3 greyed out.

As for games, I bought the 2 pack of Twisted Metal and Motor Storm Arctic Edge or whatever it is, along with Capcom Classics Reloaded and Remixed. The Vita did not see Motor Storm or Metal but did see Capcom Classics. Anybody have this issue with other games?

We should create a list of those that don't work yet in any way so money is not wasted. I really wanted to play some Motor Storm.

I wish it worked both ways (ie. buy vita ver get ps3 free too).

As it stands, it looks like a ploy to get people to buy a ps3

It sounds like it does work that way for Hustle Kings and Top Darts at least. It says if you buy the Vita versions of either game, you'll get the PS3 versions for free. Now what I love love to see is some sort of deal for MLB 12. Either a combo pack with the Vita/PS3 versions for a discounted price, or a voucher in the PS3 version for a discount on the DD version on PSN. Probably wishful thinking though.

Wow, woke up to a lot more hits on near than ever before, and every ID around my area was brand new. Lots of FEB buyers!

I noticed, however, that there are two listings for WipEout and Uncharted on my Out and About Chart (never noticed before). Would be pretty lame if the Japanese version is considered different. Wouldn't be surprised though, because the Japanese Uncharted* has yet to receive a patch for the Black Market. -_-

Called Sony support on the way into work to see if they could explain why I can't buy anything on PSN. I had the error numbers memorized from the Vita and the PS3, but since I didn't have the console in front of me, they couldn't help.

Great. Waited on hold for 20+ minutes, and they wouldn't even look up anything on my account to check if there was a reason for the issue.

I just sniffed my case (never thought I'd say that on GAF), but I don't have the smell you guys are referring to on my FEB case.

They gave me $25 for my PSP Go, and then the additional $25 credit. My Go was in pristine condition and they were shocked when I brought it in with the box, all the manuals, USB cable, AC adapter, and so on.

Not sure if they give more or less for the 3000 though.

Hmmm, anyone know the story on psp 3000 at GameStop?

I'm still confused as to what near is, is it like streetpass?
Kind of, but with many more options and the ability to seemingly find people around you with a greater radius. I tried it at home and, to my surprise, it found a good 7 people within 10km of my house with Vitas (that had played a lot of Vita titles). Vita gives you a nice radial map populated with avatars of people nearby.

I have never once seen Streetpass for 3DS actually work simply because I don't know anyone else with a 3DS and it doesn't seem to reach out very far.

No, StreetPass is when your 3DS communicates with another one ad-hoc when they're brought within range of eachother.

Near is a kind of GPS-based discovery app. People can leave gifts at certain locations, and when you later go near that location, you pick it up. You can share stuff like high score challenges, or extra game content/items by dropping them as gifts, and I think you can even just choose to ignore the whole location-based aspect and just do all the same stuff with your PSN friends.

At least, that's how I understand it. I've never actually held a Vita, but it's one of the features I'm most interested in.

The vita is so amazing. I'm pretty sure that it fixes up framerate issues in at least some games, as Maverick Hunter X has none anymore. I downloaded FFT, but the slowdown is still in that, but I don't think that was ever a "framerate" issue, probably just shitty programming.

This device is so good. It's fast, it has a ridiculous amount of options, it has one of the best DPADS ever. It reminds me of the Saturn pad. I played a 5 bar match of UMvC3 online last night and it felt great. I'm, like, gushing. This thing is so. fucking. good.

Oh, playing Dissidia with the camera mapped to the right analog made me go :D :D :D. Dracula X with no ghosting? yes, please.

Wipeout looks ridiculous. Lumines is awesome.

Stupid work, cutting in to my Vita time.
