Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I'm hoping too that since they're moving to an account-based system there's some way of transferring past purchases to your account.

I think it may be easy with the 3DS, just update the 3DS to use the account system and auto-include any previously purchased games from the eshop. should work, right?

Hopefully there'll be some way to do it with the wii as well. I'm just *not* going to buy these games AGAIN, but I would like to have them on the wii u.

Edit: wow, eerily beaten

IMAGINE THIS.

Nintendo Account.

With this account you can purchase Virtual console titles, 3DSware, WiiUware titles, full retail titles. Once you purchase a title, you can download it to multiple systems (lets say 3-4 max) when compatible or available (ie Gameboy and SNES titles on both WiiU and 3DS, GC titles on WiiU only, etc)

This account tracks all your registered games, downloaded games, played games, etc. You get points for registering games.

You can access this account online as well.
This account is integrated with your club Nintendo account. They are one and the same.

Recommendations and post play surveys are integrated. You get Nintendo points for recommending titles you have played (of course at a modest rate) incentivizing feedback.

Demos, videos, and recommendations are available for retail and downloadable titles. Your friends recommendations are highlighted.

Worthless channels like check mii out are now worthwhile and integrated into this system. For example, ending up on the top 20 each month nets you a few points. Getting tons of spotpasses with 3DS nets you points. Winning flipnote contests nets you points, winning mario kart tournaments nets you points, etc.

Basically, instead of just 'achievements', nintendo should develop a completely integrated incentivized structure for spending time with the WiiU. Much like winning tickets at the arcade to buy dumb prizes, nintendo should leverage its amazing VC and backlog of classics to make people play with the WiiU. They do that to an extend with club nintendo. It just needs to be completely integrated.

Just crossed 130 titles played on my 3DS, that's about 15 games and the rest eShop and DS games, can't wait to see what the U brings.
Especially if I can have GCN games and Toki Tori 2 launch day.

It's the very first Wii2 rumor I have on my list.

1st game and 1st mention of Nintendo about to release a new Wii.

amazing that he dropped that hint like that he must have been excited because he talked about scaling and saying other platforms then dropped hmmm not those portables maybe Nintendo has something lol

things could have changed I mean have we even seen anything from this game?

but it seems like WiiU should be clearly in

Yeah it's one of those rumors that seems to line up with all the other major rumors we have heard.

Well if I took what I know and put it in a formula where 2 + x = 4, then it's definitely able to fit within what x would be. I'm not able to guarantee it's true, but as it stands I have no reason to doubt it.

Tomorrow I'm gonna have to ask my discrete math prof what's going on here.

I want someone from Epic to tweet something like this:

UE4 is now running smoothly on a Next Generation Console, we cannot tell you the name but its not called #WiiU

the next day Iwata changes the name of the WiiU

muhahahaha

Does Wii U need UE4 in order to have a realistic shot at real third-party support? Or is it just something people want because it would be cool.

to the core I guess it would be = "GameChanger" for Nintendo Support

but there are plenty of other engines that could shine on WiiU

I would add to that IMHO that I personally think that the less excuses 3rd parties have not to support WiiU the better
I just want to see that one checked off because of the danger that PS4/Dungo will be leaps ahead of WiiU

Unfortunately, I would say yes if current trending towards the UE continues through next-gen. I mean Cryengine or something else could theoretically take it's place, but it's highly likely UE4 (and modified UE3) will be the go-to middleware engine early next gen. Nintendo does need Wii U to run it in some capacity to get a lot of 3rd party support early.

Consider it prep for your upcoming finals.

IMO the idea would be that if UE4 becomes the de facto engine like UE3, then it's more about the longevity of Wii U and not having a fast fall off like Wii. There would come a time when UE3 is used very little if at all and it would be easier to have hardware that can handle it making portability much easier. It's really about making sure that's not a possible issue down the road.

Since Nintendo basically skipped a generation, if they decide on any HD remakes (which they fucking should) the jump is going to be fucking MIND BLOWING.

I wonder what HD remake I would want first?

I don't really like seeing HD remakes but Zelda LTTP and Xenoblade HD is enough for me

to be honest I am more excited about playing old games on uPad

Well the bright side is that even if Wii U can't handle UE4, its not like the console will suffer the same way Wii did with lack of third-party games, especially in terms of multiplatform support. Besides Wii managed to snatch some surprisingly big third-party home console exclusives like Monster Hunter Tri and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Super Mario Galaxy Collection
The Legend of Zelda Collection (TP + SS)

Both would be an instant purchase

but these have slowed to almost nothing in the recent year so if UE4 is the major player next gen then WiiU's lifespan is cut short

what about coins a la 3DS without walking?

I think the WiiU will have some type of achievements feature since every game seem to have it these days so I don't see why not if they can somehow tie it in to eshop bonuses or Club Nintendo even better

Sure, but that's all Capcom. It would be better for Wii U to get a large range of multiplats than a few exclusives in the long run.
