Kid Icarus Uprising |OT| On a Wing and a Prayer

Seeing other people with palutena avatars after a year of so being probably one of the few who used her fills me with so much mixed feelings.

This game has certainly had a rollercoaster-type hype circuit. Peaks and valleys galore. I may pick it up if I finish Revelaitons by that time, which isn't a total certainty since I have virtually no time to spare for games at the moment. Damn my education and the need to pay bills!

Same here. I cant have a backlog on this system already, even if its just one game lol.

EDIT: Anyone know who the composer for Uprising is, because they definitely need to compose for more Nintendo action/RPG titles.

I already have Tales of the Abyss :lol

I hate games that "you have to buy because if you don't they will be impossible to find later".

First... Kid Icarus! and that sweet sweet Brawl-ish netcode!
still joking here, fingers crossed

I was half watching TV and thought a Wrath of the Titans commercial was on... but it was for Kid Icarus. I'm surprised they're pushing this game so hard, it's clear that Nintendo is serious about turning it into a franchise now.

Nintendo has to push the game hard, otherwise it'l by the wayside because no one knows Kid Icarus.

I'm thrilled with the direction they've gone with the new game, and hope it proves to be a big hit for them.

What were you watching at the time?

As said they have to push it. There is no nostalgia for them to rely on and I'm really glad there isn't any. That's the problem they had with Skyward Sword I feel. They took the "It will sell decently because it's Zelda". The less then stellar sales hopefully showed them they have to push Kid Icarus even more then they might have been planning to. So if KI benefits from Zelda not doing great in some way (I hope this is part of it) then that's a good thing in the end.

I agree about the marketing. I read that Nintendo plans on pushing 7 different Kid Icarus commercials in NoA alone. So they're pushing it pretty hard.

Also as for Zelda, SS has already outsold most Zelda games in the past 15 years. The only Zeldas it hasn't surpassed is The original LoZ, OoT, TP, and I think last we heard it is still slightly below ALttP but is likely to outsell it.

Really? I know it started out strong and better then other Zelda games based on what Nintendo said but then it just dropped out of the NPD. Nintendo then didn't say anything else about it either. It hasn't done well in Japan at all. Europe is still up in the air. Granted it hopefully has some legs and is selling but I assume (perhaps wrongly I hope) it's just selling very slow. I do think their handling of the marketing for it was horrible though. Especially in America.

Funny, I just happened to be surfing around the official website and saw/ordered those cards right before returning to this thread.

I found the source. My memory is bad. It still outsold most Zelda titles but here are it's sales as of December 2011 less than 2 months of sales.

It will still continue selling for a while though especially because Nintendo is pursueing more aggressive bundling and deals with SS since then. Zelda titles also have decent legs. Also such titles as OoS/OoA shouldn't really count because they are two seperate games with combined sales.

Ugh, the ground combat still looks (potentially) horrible. And what's worse, so many boss fights seem to be ground based.

And I hope it was just the quality of the trailer, but there seemed to be some slowdown too. :( I dunno, I'm just not convinced by this game on many levels.

I was gonna save this for when the real OT is made, but I'm impatient, so I'm posting it now, lol. Anyway, I made a bunch of avatars for anyone who might want one. They're not that amazing, but whatever, lol. Reply if you take one!
