Gravity Daze sold 100k

Weak sales for a first party blockbuster game. They did advertise it like hell?

It is a new IP that I would hardly call a blockbuster.
It is a new vision from a designer to specialized in survival horror before this, it was a huge risk.
God damn some people really have to dig deep to put a negative spin on anything don't they.

Not bad for such a niche game, had it been released on another platform like for example Wii it wouldn't have sold more than 40k units.

Did Hot Shots Golf 6: World Invitational sell over 100k units too?

Where does this put it as far as the best selling Vita software is concerned?
Seems respectable at least. Really looking forward to the western release.

The interesting thing is that probably 30-40k of those sales were digital.
The last retail shipment figure we have is approx 60k.

Maybe the low end of that range, but probably still a bit below that. Last sold-through figure we have is 56K at the end of February selling 5K that week. It's very easy to imagine it having sold at least another 10K at retail though the first three weeks of March + whatever is still on shelves. Still possibly 25K sold digitally by this point, which is a huge percentage of the retail sales. :)

Congrats!

But wow at dd sales - I thought digital sales really slow in Japan? Hmm this is interesting I wish to know more about the concrete number not just GD but other games too. Why sony never bother to release them?

And where is my Localized Gravity Rush!

Probably just under Uncharted, Hot Shots and Fifa, which is great considering these are the sales from just one territory
Yeah, if that's the case then these numbers are pretty good all things considered. Not sure exactly why some people are complaining.

Someone should take the media create numbers and calculate the approx. digital sales coefficient for Vita games. Not that I care though, lol

I thought it was translated as "shipped" in the Sales thread..

...who cares? The publisher and developer still get their money, and in the case that it only shipped 100K, it is very unlikely there will be any buy back.

Still don't understand the sales-age fascination with "lolshipped" at every possible opportunity.

That's impossible to know.
Yeah, we only have hard retail LTD numbers for Week 2 from Media Create.
It's remained in the Top 50 ever since. I'd say it's reasonable to expect roughly 60-65K retail sales and digital making up the rest.

I really doubt it sold 30k-40k digitally. 20k Would be my maximum estimate.

Hoping to play this game someday, always looked interesting!

Anyone know what SCE Japan Studio is working on now? They made two awesome new IPs for the PSP, Loco Roco and Patapon. I hope they stay on board with the Vita.

How this game even defines as blockbuster? Seriously... some guys...

K, English is not my main language. Seems like the term blockbuster isnt fitting, but this is no way a niche game in Japan. Yeah, it is the new title, but how many people do still know Kid Icarus? I am pretty sure there was a lot of advertising for the game. I dont live in Japan so I am not 100 % sure. If 100k met the expectations of Sony there must be something wrong. So 1:5 or 6 attach rate are good sales?!?

Still working on Tokyo Jungle which for some reason is taking years to finish. As for Toyama, my guess is either a brand new Siren game or maybe a Gravity Daze sequel.

I'm happy for them.

Do we have any idea how Blood Curse performed? 'Poorly', I'm guessing?

I do not think poorly, definitely not a blockbuster.
An amazing game though and the best survival horror in a very very long time and sadly it looks like it will stay that way.

itt people are downplaying a new sony ip that makes 100k in japan alone... Not even counting the fact that it's on vita. Yet a mgs port on the other handheld makes half of that and it's apparently not so bad and is holding pretty well. I think I've seen it all.

It was expected to crater much harder, so because it didn't do as bad as people thought, it's doing "not so bad." Still probably not good sales for it, though. Who knows? Maybe MGS HD Collection on Vita in June will outsell MGS3D on 3DS! :lol
