Halo |OT2| Hyper-Athletic Speed And Mass And Weight and Power

You have never seen the frame rate dip substantially? Forge World makes up 80% of the maps in matchmaking so I'm not sure how that's possible. Tempest, Anchor 9, every Firefight map, every Forge map, Zealot and Countdown, every BTB map, Condemned (low-grav room LOL) and basically every map in the game will break down. This is after Bungie promised a completely re-built engine to ~*push the boundaries*~ of the Xbox 360.

The difference between you and I is that you're willing to accept any frame drops as long as they're not "too bad", I want a rock solid, flawless framerate. I see stupid shit like mechs being built inside a level and just know when nades start raining and rockets are flying around that I'll be trying to snipe and it'll be crawling along at a cinematic frame rate. Hope I'm wrong.

Never in competitive (co-op is another story, so I hope that they switch over to the same model they use for competitive in Halo 4.)

What do you consider substantial? A lost frame or two isn't that noticeable, even at a 30fps running speed. I've *never* had a game where things lagged to the point that it affected actual gameplay, even in the low-grav room. The fact that I've only ever heard you complain this loudly about it makes me think this is atypical. Halo 3 will lag much easier and much more.

Not saying a framerate that stays solid isn't desirable. But I don't think things are half as bad as you make them out to be with every post.

Framerate drops on console are bad, whether people are annoyed with them enough to complain on message boards or not. Shouldn't be shipped like that.

Like Halo Anniversary's co-op. We're having such a hard time going through that thing because of lag.

Mass Effect 3 didn't arrive today in the post :(
I hope Xand doesn't get too mad and beat his wife because of it.
Looking forward to playing with da cru l8r

While framerate problems do exist in Reach, hyperbolic numbers like 8fps is a joke. That's some Fyrewulf grade-A bs right there.

Edit: Actually, that's implying Fyrewulf would have come up with such numbers, my bad :p

There are specific locations, perspectives, and scenarios that will produce frame drops in Halo: Reach's adversarial multiplayer maps, and depending on how you play, your encounters with them can vary in occurrence from regularly to never at all.

Ideally, there shouldn't be any. It is a flaw in the design of the game, and it should be unacceptable, even if you don't encounter it often personally. However, it should also be recognized that these sorts of problems may not obviously manifest themselves until the developer is at a point in development in which there is not an elegant resolution, and fixing the problem means getting a little more optimization out of an engine that's already been squeezed dry and would need to be re-written, something that is unfeasible.

The average player doesn't care about development or the reasons why. They just play the game and encounter slowdown and wonder why it happens in this game when in the previous game they didn't see anything like it. Or how in other games they don't get slowdown at all.

Honestly, a game like Halo shouldn't have it. I'm not going to pretend like I know how the game is coded or what goes on in that particular area of development. I'm just talking from my expectations. Halo has the money and resources behind it that make any other franchises' fans envious. Why can't we expect the game to meet the same high standards set by previous games in the series at the very least?

Some grey blocks in a green field shouldn't make the framerate dip. Ever.

His name was Marauder Shields.

...he wore some armor.
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Liara dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Shields went a bit too far, Shepard sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?

(sing to Barry Manilow's her name was lola for full effect)

Looking from tunnel to tunnel on Beaver Creek causes framedrops.
Looking through the middle on Condemned causes framedrops.
Looking to the middle from the top level on Prisoner causes framedrops.
Looking around zoomed in the a Sniper on Tempest will cause framedrops.
Flying over Breakpoint with a Falcon causes framedrops.
Looking anywhere on the Forge maps in matchmaking causes framedrops.

I barely notice any framedrops when I play and then those few fps dros barely effected the gameplay.

As arnold would say, "quit your whinning!".

Easily my biggest concern for 4. Engine optimisation is great and all but I want a quality game and I don't think getting more bang for my buck with a load of issues is going to please anyone.

So what you're say as it didn't "effect" you then we shouldn't complain about it, something that plagues a ton of users on here? That's fine if that's what you're saying, I'm just making sure.

I've never noticed any of them. Not a single drop.

Looks like they already did.

The actual list from about 2 weeks ago:
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops
3. FIFA 12
4. Battlefield 3
5. Halo: Reach
6. Modern Warfare 2
7. Mass Effect 3
8. NBA 2K12
9. Skyrim
10. Gears of War 3

Not as bad as your list but still a bit sad.

Yeah I should stop complaining about the fact that in certain circumstances I can't kill someone because the framerate is cut in half.

Yeah, can't count the times i've missed snipes down the street of Asylum because im zoomed in from the cubby and the framerate dips like a boss.

Yes, because of this i should snipe from somewhere else. However, it shouldnt be like that in a game.
