That's only done if it's a "good" number, like 7.
Maybe for their tenth console, the Nintendo X.
Just came with an awesome tag for Wii U:
Wii(ll) U Believe?
Yeah? Whatever, fuck you!
Then Apple sues them and somehow wins. lol
Nintendo has no issues dealing with trademark issues. I really doubt that they'll change the name.
Also, you guys have made around 40k posts in the past three months without me. That's just sad.
You're joking of course..but..
..a new R.O.B. would be quite interesting if they were to use the Wii U controller.
Just supply a robotic body with a couple of flailing arms and stick the Wii U controller on as its head. The screen displays an animated face, voice comes out of speakers, voice recognition with the mic, use the camera to recognise faces/certain gestures/movement. The console can stream various movement patterns to the body via the wifi in the controller.
R.O.B. could also be used as an ornate charging cradle to store your controller ...and be linked to the he internet so he can update you on the latest gaming news, demos, downloads etc.
A constantly updated, internet enabled, talking robot with an animated face and some virtual pet style functionality... would be pretty appealing to the mass market.
He has been summoned.
Welcome back Porky
Great!
I have a question for Gaf:
How should be read the absolute silence from third party developers on Wii U version of PS360 multiplatform titles?
I mean: we got absolute silence from last E3, where some important multiplatform titles were announced (Batman, Dirt, Darksiders etc...), then only Assassins Creed 3 was announced.
But, for example, no RE6 or Lost Planet3 and so on.
What do you think about this situation? Apart the hardware-power foolishness, it's obvious that Wii U can easily handle PS360 multiplatform releases, so: why isn't Capcom announcing also a Wii U version?
Is AC3 just a Ubi "bastard" exception? And everything else is ninja-silenced by Nintendo's NDA?
Or: will Wii U have NO support at all, neither from THIS generation of third party titles?
@BurntPork: What happened?
Smells like HAM in here
Sry, dont take it personally... But your nick asked for it
I've just had a vision of the top secret megaton that will blow us all away at E3!
Ladies and Gentlemen I give you..
Wii R.O.B. U

Cool. We'll have two more Wii U speculation threads until E3
Nah..change the name to Wii R
Wii R the world
Wii R family
Wii R legion

What is this fragrant titillating odor?
Don't see why they don't just call it Wii2
Makes it more obviously a successor to the Wii in name terms.
Or do as they have with Mario Kart, drop all previous naming conventions and throw in the version in its history.
Nintendo Entertainment System 6
I still don't know what HAM means.
There's really only two options for this 3rd party situation.
Either everything but stuff announced last year is NDA'd, or there's nothing coming.
E3 will tell us. Until then we speculate.
Welcome back Porky!
WES -> Wii Entertainment System...
I can't possibly believe there's nothing coming from 3rd parties. That would insanely bad news.
In addition, we sat down with the game's producers, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Hiroyuki Kobayashi, as well as director Eiichiro Sasaki to inquire about Resident Evil 6's potential place on Wii U, which is set to launch before the end of the year. Given the timing of its release and other high-profile titles recently announced for the system, does Resident Evil 6 have a place on Nintendo's new platform?
"Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U," Kobayashi told us. "Right now we're concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game."
It's worth noting that Kobayashi specifically uses the words "at this time," which still leaves the possibility open for a Wii U announcement in the future. Since the system's unveiling at E3 2011, Nintendo has been keeping a lid on most of Wii U's launch details, though more info is expected to come at E3 2012.
Yes it would.I can't possibly believe there's nothing coming from 3rd parties. That would insanely bad news.
BurntPork returns?
I'm so fucking happy. I'm not even joking, it's been crap without you, Burny.
Glad to have you back.
Like the avatar, BTW.
Yes it would.
But you have to entertain the thought. Just so the doubt is there. I take the position that the system is the bare minimum of expectations. Weaker than a 360, 3rd party situation nearly as bad as the Wii.
I hope I'm shocked at E3. But I always have it in the back of my mind "Nintendo's most successful home console ever was around a generation weaker than it's competing consoles, and lacked quality support from 3rd parties to a startling degree."
This is a very strange company.
Terrible news for third-party support. RE6 should have been a lock.

they probably don't want to focus on inferior hardware.

Wii U clearly needs more shaders.
When they get to the U's successor, I want it named the "Lucky Bastard 7."
