Interesting. I'll finish it out but after chewing on the last two eps for a while, I've no hope for the finale.

Help me GAF, I love animes like School Rumble and the Full Metal Panic series, romantic comedies like this are gold but they seem really hard to track down. I end up in a sea of incest/lolita style stuff which I have zero interest in.
Can someone help me out and list some of the best romantic comedies similar to those above? There has to be more out there that I haven't found yet.

I guess Ouran would count, if you listed Fumoffu (I know you just mentioned FMP in general but I'll pretend you listed Fumoffu).
Since you actually watched the FMP series and didn't skip right to Fumoffu like certain, individuals here, you automatically get cool points. :3

On the other hand, I think the final arc of the series is actually effective because of how it contrasts with the lighter material that preceded it. If it was serious and sombre throughout it wouldn't have been as powerful, I feel.
Was that not the point? It's a sudden shift/reveal of the threat that was intimated but never substantiated until now. It's the kind of paradigm shift that should be jarring, I think. It didn't bother me because the show had done a good job of laying in the groundwork for such a change, and the melancholy tone of the last few episodes had prepared me for such a shift.
Fumoffu is the best part! The FMP series had some highlights as well, but I like it for the comedy.
Ouran I saw bits of, seems ok, probably mildly similar, but I want something in very much the same vein in the same way Bleach is clearly in the same bracket as Naruto.
Toradora is far too lolita-like for me, completely separate bracket. I'm not a fan of these animes with the bossy grumpy spoilt tiny girl.

I get what you're saying, but without your recommendation I probably would have dropped it 3-4 episodes in.

Well it was actually a not good episode. Naruto was barely around, no Konohamaru even :/ Though we did get a Rasengan. Rock Lee is probably the most boring character in Naruto, rivaling that of Ino, Shino, and even Sakura Haruno. I hope the next one brings this anime back to form and puts the title character back front and center.

And talking about tsu ri ta ma; who here had renovated interest on/wanted to try for the first time the art of fishing? But I'm not talking about something too serious!
It reminds me of certain sports 'shōnen' that made generations embrace sacrifice and try overcoming obstacles, discovering things about their new favorite game at the same time. Although in tsu ri ta ma it was part of an initial premise, and this series has its additional and particular incentives for the story, of course.
I'd hope some people want to do something similar because of this series too!

Well, you are right... it took me by surprise because, even if the tone certainly changed, I expected something more inoffensive, as I didn't see someone would die in that sudden way (I suppose they died, right? I'll know it soon either way).
I'll accustom to it, and I don't find it was a problem with the series anyway!

No, you're right about Bleach and Naruto; DTL just has some.........wildly unusual opinions on the matter.
One more suggestion: it's somewhat more rom than com, but give Amagami SS a try as well.
Awesome! The best version of the manga (there's 4 versions total) is quite good!

This episode was an actually awesome ending. They way that characterized Kouga over the course actually made him a standout character in the end, and Jin as usual. I mean when Jin uttered that cool line as he dashed off, wow, "Keep your head up you wont find hope lying around on the ground. This makes me want more super hero anime for some reasons. I just want another season.
8 / 10, darkish for my tastes, but definitely an enjoyable ride. I will definitely buy this once Viz releases and dubs it. Dots and Lines.

I didn't think Kouga would actually kill Tanaka but he did. I hated Kouga over the course of the anime for his justice was so annoying and led him to making decisions that I, the viewer, and possibly Jin, in universe, would never choose. Not that Kouga was a bad character by design or such, but he just worked so well as a kind of opposite or maybe "hero" complementing Jin. Tons of Kudos too for not keeping or forcing Jin to stay in Zet form but returning him to human form, relieving that it wasn't permanent. And Haitani, what an antagonist, dying in so much happiness.

In actuality, I feel like Fumoffu is the only part of FMP that's actually great. The rest of the franchise is just unremarkable mecha stuff.
Maybe you should warn people the next time when you come back.

Well, I can see what you mean, but I think the problem with the early half isn't simply that the tone is rather light and silly, it's that the show opened poorly and improved as it went. In other words, it wasn't the tone that was the problem so much as the quality. I've never even seen the first episode but by all impressions its the kind of thing that would make most people drop the show, which is literally the opposite impression that a proper first episode seeks to have on the audience.
