I plan on getting both so I can ductape them together and have the PS4 before everyone else.

Careful, Sony have Ninjas too...

Seriously though, I'm definitely considering getting one of each and keeping one in the box. Wish I'd done that with every other console I own :(

I'm starting to think there isn't a CPU at all.

CPU's and transistors are old hat

Havent you seen the V6 devkits yet?

I heard valves are coming back in fashion, what with the new steam box rumour being made with valve technology and all. What is old is new once again.

Nice. So in the event of an EMP attack, I won't need to keep a spare WiiU in my Faraday cage!

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Y'all are just trolling now because you know Nintendo won't spend that kind of money.
That'd be DaSorcerer7, as I've been officially diagnosed with trolling disability.

NASA/Nanofab researchers are developing a device the combines the best aspects from both vacuum tubes and solid-state transistors. Their prototype "vacuum channel transistor" is only 150 nanometers in size, can be manufactured cheaply using standard silicon semiconductor processing, can operate at high speeds even in hostile environments, and could consume just as much power as a standard transistor.

Nice find, man!

My Indonesian source told me that - just like the 3DS XL - the Wii U won't come with a power brick. BUT you can buy one of these in the Nintendo online store which is pretty rad!

Nothing special maybe, but heavily relied upon. And considering Nintendo's efforts to win over 3rd parties, you can't completely rule out the notion. Also I think that initial small boost came from just having actual hardware as I believe the bump happened before the tweaking.

Reasonable.

But on the subjective side, you can most probably agree that those that use middleware heavily aren't the kind of developers that are going to suck everything out of the hardware. And another, maybe irrelevant and unrelated thing, that I don't really look upon the amount of 3rd-parties WiiU going to have, I don't really care personally, I'm not a fan of these derivative online heavy shooters and the kind of gameplay that's on PS360, I just want to see something from ID Software on there for the sake of "tech demo" , but other than that I'm here for first-parties only.

I think MS owns some legal rights to ME1, which means we'd never see it on a non-Microsoft console.

And I'm not jumping into the middle of the story.

And on a related theme, THQ should consider a quick cash-in with Darksiders 1 on the Wii U. It'd be a no-brainer.
Yes, mass effect 1 is only available on Xbox 360 or PC. The PC version has better mini games and supports mods and such. And it's not a port, it uses the mouse and keyboard as controls.

Darksiders being ported to Wii U would be awesome. But due to the lack of an announcement and my anticipation of Darksiders II for Wii U, I ended up buying it for $10 for my PS3 and I'm enjoying it right now (it's like god of war with some Zelda). Some awesome voice talent in this game too. Mark Hamil (Nuff said) and Liam O'Brian (Caius from FFXIII-2).

cycle of life.

Whilst that does seem pretty cool, it's got a long way to go before mainstream acceptance. 150nm is appallingly large in this day and age. Would be okay in some types of industrial embedded devices where durability is of great importance and modern computing power is overkill but would be useless dated in consumer devices.

Black always looks better in promotional shots.

But in real life... fingerprints, scratches and dust EVERYWHERE. I'm going with white.
White turns yellow from heat (console). My launch day wii gets cleaned once a week by being dusted and wiped and the white casing has some brown and yellow on its case and it's not removable. White wii remote shows dust too. Black for me. I can live with finger prints on my GamePad but not brown/yellow shit.

I haven't been in the WUST in a long while so pardon me asking, but why the name change? Are we not allowed to talk game line-up or launch prices in here? :/

Sooo... anyone else see Pachter's claims that Activision demanded a trad controller from Nintendo otherwise they wouldn't bring Call of Duty to the system?

http://www.edge-online.com/news/nintendo-made-wii-u-pro-controller-secure-call-duty

Whatever Activision, its not like CoD will be the big game come next gen.
Games that make use use of the Gamepad might usher in a paradigm shift.

That said, we will know for sure if Pachter is full of it, if Activision comes up
with fantastic use of the gamepad.

Guy's full of it. No mention that the Wii-Mote is preferred by many though. They BETTER support the Wii-Mote... couldn't give 2 shits about ProCon support myself. Can't see them not doing it as the code base is in place and should port over nicely to the WiiU.

Seeing the features that BLOPS 2 brings to the table with all of this tactical shit I wonder if they recognize the potential that the gamepad has.

Sometimes I really feel like things would be better if Pachter would just stop speaking. He's so full of shit. The CC Pro exists probably because mutliple 3rd parties (including Activision) requested it, and Nintendo loves making money off their accessories.

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Pachter hasn't even been anywhere close with Nintendo predictions/news in the past couple years but he could have heard this from Activision.

Activision never said anything to me, but I know that [for] big games like Call Of Duty they said, 'No, we're not putting it on there if you don't give us a conventional controller'. So they gave in."

What the fuck is this shit? Activision never told me anything, but I just know?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the CC was made to play virtual console games more comfortably and the CC Pro was made to play Monster Hunter Tri and Brawl was it not? I believe Capcom wanted the CC Pro more than any western dev.

CC Pro came out long after Brawl. Nintendo and Capcom worked together to make it for Monster Hunter. Nintendo also made the CPP for Monster Hunter Tri G. Activision has been using a completely separate team to make CoD Wii games for years, but now we are to believe they are getting pissy over making a port?

The CC and the CC Pro are the same thing technically. A game has CC support meaning it supports the Classic Controller in all forms because they don't work differently. The CC Pro was just a revision of the original model

OK, so after reading the WUSTs, I realized something. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Concerning next Gen, only those of us with 1080p televisions will see noticeable improvements? I understand that there will be hundreds of tiny particles and minute shadows, but if you're only seeing it in half its resolution will you see most of them at all? I'm not a tech wiz and I don't pretend to know anything about shaders. I just don't see how current tech could produce any sort of vast noticeable improvement... Other than added features, of course...

That, and Nintendo has always had a traditional controller for their consoles. Hell, the Wii had
a few if you count the 2 classics and all the Gamecube controllers you could use. Wavebird ROCKS!

I have a 720p television and I can easily see how next gen will be an improvement. There are so many jaggies in 360/PS3 games still, and some games still have low res textures coating the ground as "grass". There's a ton of improvement they can still do graphically.

I guess I can see your point, however, how much of that rests on the tech versus developer and budget?

Do you have a link to where you found those screens? A couple of the screens look like bullshots, and what's with the last one? Since when do you get that perspective in an FPS game?

Sure here it is

http://www.sendit.com/10616853.html

The top 2 are confirmed to be screenshots on the official ZombiU site.

The bottom 2 i can't seem to find anywhere but the site also had that other screenshot Ubisoft released after E3 except it's in 1080p...

EDIT: The top 2 are from the Official ZombiU site

Bought Borderlands from the summer Steam sale over the weekend and now I really really hope Borderlands 2 is one of those "yet to be announced" third party games Iwata was talking about.

Does anyone think any of those not yet announced games are some of the big games coming out, or do you think there smaller maybe Japanese only type games? I mean what are the odds they would be big games like Borderlands 2, Tomb Raider, FarCry 3, Bioshock, GTA V?

That comment by Iwata was said in Japan right? If so then I'm going to believe he's talking about Japanese games, not western games. E3 or the NoA Nintendo Direct was the time to say there were more unannounced games on the way but they were focusing on 2012 at the moment. Not just that they were focusing on 2012. I don't think Reggie ever said there were more unannounced games for launch/window. What I expect is anything "unannounced" mentioned by Iwata pertains to Japan only at the moment. That's what Nintendo focuses on first and foremost. I honestly don't expect anything regarding the western market until the Wii U releases and even then it will slip out I think. If it's not Japan it's a distant concern for Nintendo.

I just wish they'd take the limits off 3rd parties. If they have games or Wii U versions let them say if they do or not. It's not like Nintendo will be handling marketing. Let 3rd parties be responsible for the success or failure of their games. If they want to send them out to die they'll be sent out to die regardless of how well Nintendo wants to control the message or when it's announced. If they want their games to do well they'll put in the effort regardless if it's announced now or not.

The NoA guy Moffitt did say in an interview there would be more 3rd party announcements, so I assume there will be at least a few more Western games. Obviously we know the EA Sports games will be announced this week, and I'm still pretty convinced CoD will be unveiled.

But yeah, the big blowout is going to be for Japanese 3rd parties. Probably in August and September. There has literally been ONE new Japanese game announced in the past year- Tanks. So there is room for a lot of announcements.

Yeah, I'm really hoping for Borderlands 2 as well. If they don't announce the Wii U version before it comes out in September, I'm not going to wait, though.

I think a few may be big, but I'm not expecting a GTA V or Tomb Raider announcement. Maybe one of the other three.
