Halo |OT8| A Salt on the Control Room

After playing MW3 for 2 days going back to Reach feels horrible.

the 60fps to 30 fps? Yea thats horrible, Its even worse when you go MW3 to BF3 because they have very similar first person views with similar real world guns and such jumping from one to another is seriously mindfucking.

For me it's the other way around, but not because of the FPS, it's because the gunplay/gameplay of MW3/COD has become shit/boring.

Probably talking about the framerate. And how he has to work for some kills now.
I found it strange that I didn't have to adjust to the framerate that much. I remember I use to do, but this time it wasn't a factor. Also, Blops movement speed feels like you are a tank.

I gotta agree about CoD's "gunplay" being boring. BF3 is not much better in that regard the vast majority of weapons in that game feel like I'm not actually doing anything with them.

If i can give any credit to reach it would be that the weapons have nice feedback.

In what way? Recently played MW2 and Blops and I even wonder why I liked those games before.

I always played better in halo 3 after playing MW2 two games completely different. 3 now is sooo slow now I can't stand it. :/

Just had a date cancel on me. Gonna play some mopey Halo 3.

I'm in the same boat. I MIGHT get Warfighter to go along side Halo 4, but I may just go with Borderlands 2 instead. BLops 2 MP that I just watched looked way too similar to everything else, just new weapons.

Sorry, I need to wash my hair.

Good morning.
That was a set i built for The Running Riot when they interviewed 405th Source (it was intended for the Ascendant Justice interview). I found it with a search on bnet so i never figured out how they did it. I assume they pushed a 2 way teleporter out of the map.
Thank you :) Idk How they get out of the map in Campaign. After seeing really good screenshots of The Ark, The Dreadnought, and etc. from perfect perspectives. Or they got a dev. patch for Halo 3?

MoH typically has smaller maps and stuff right? I could be interested in Warfighter. I remember playing the beta for the last MoH and i climbed up a small rock and shat on everyone all game went like +37 and decided that I didn't want to play anymore.

MoH isn't tricking me again, I learned my lesson the first time around. I'm getting H4 on release obviously, but as for other fall stuff...I dunno. I'll probably wait til around Christmas to pick up BLOPS2.

Edit: Also, having a LAN today for the first time in years. Excited.

The shooting in Dice games never feels right. Guerilla is the only other dev for me that really nails the shooting, specifically Killzone 2 (Dat sniper).

Halo 4/Guild Wars 2/CS:GO/Bastion runthroughs/Pkmn: B/W 2. Better luck next year, rest of the q4 season. I'll catch you at three-fourths price next summer.

So as a few of you may know, I will not be going to PAX this year. My new job won't allow me to take the time off to go, which is fine because my job is more important lol. But yes it's also a bummer.

Anyway, now I am looking to sell my PAX passes. I had to get the individual day passes because I was too late in obtaining the 3-day passes. They cost me about $35 each, but I'd be willing to sell them for $30 each.

I'm posting this here because I would like to give a HaloGaffer an opportunity to go before I even think about selling them elsewhere. If you're interested, please shoot me a PM.

P.S I know it's kinda short notice, but I just found out not too long ago. :/

I really enjoyed the first MoH, sunk alot of time into multiplayer. Very interested in Warfighter as I play alot of TDM in Battlefield 3 and Warfighter is pretty much going to be exactly the same but with purpose built maps.

Also going to get Blops 2, not really a CoD fan but I always buy them, at least just for the campaign.

Contact Steely.

People going to PAX, does anyone have any space for the Thursday night for Heckfu and I? We just need a place for the one night.

PM me.

If so, that is dumb. Is he trying to be a hero of sorts? Was that the only solution for him since he couldn't refrain from posting all the time? If so, then yes it'll help out. Still dumb though.

Wow didn't realize PAX was so near. Hope we get some good stuff out of it. Forge? Any new unannounced modes? More multiplayer? Maybe another map or 2?

PAX is the last big thing before launch right? So any remaining "big" features would most likely be announced there or they'd be standard announcements via Waypoint or other sites?

What I want to see at PAX:

Reveal of Daily/Weekly Challenges: This system needs an overhaul. The current system in Reach is too narrow with days dedicated to specific gamers -- like Firefight Thursdays. I'm hoping to see a system closer to Contracts in Black Ops. In Contracts, daily challenges are divided into three categories with 7-8 options apiece. More types of players are accounted for in this system. Imagine every day being Spartan Ops day for the players who love that mode, while other players can earn extra Spartan Points in the modes they love.

New Vehicles: We've seen snippets of the mech, but is it playable in multiplayer? Is that the only new vehicle? PAX seems like the perfect place to reveal an expanded vehicle sandbox and the arenas in which they'll be available.

New Gametypes: What will be the defining gametype of Halo 4? Will it be Regicide? Or does 343 have an ace up its sleeve? A hands-on reveal at PAX would be ideal to spread word-of-mouth about this exciting new mode, whatever it may be.

Speaking of Challenges, I hope that they're better than Reach's challenges. I'm not a fan of the assist weekly, multikill weekly and daily jetpack challenges. Also, it may not be possible but I hope that they have coded the challenges system in such a way that they can create newer challenges and modified old ones as time goes on.

So, I wish armor detail would come back as an option, I would love to be able to choose Primary color, Secondary color and Armor Detail color (skins).. Or hell, I would love if we could possibly color individual pieces of armor separately from the rest such as shoulder pads or the chest. That way we really could give our Spartans an individual identity, such as Jorge who had unique coloring.. It seems it may have been a consideration during Halo 3:

hZpy5.jpg

I really wish we could actually do something like that. Also, I really like that not only are there different visor colors, but also different 'textures', making the visors feel pretty unique. Its kinda crazy that those ideas have been in effect since Halo 3, but never really saw the light of day until Reach.

I would join you, but unfortunately I have some people over who are addicted to Netflix.

Do we know yet how skins work colour wise? Curious to see if skin colour is a separate option or if it is tied in to secondary colour. Also absolutely love that concept art pic, shame we didn't end up seeing that level of customisation or variety in the end.

Also on the topic of concept art, obligatory link to Isaac Hannaford's blog.

Yeah, there's early beta shots of Halo 3 where the Spartans were more customizable. There's also old screenshots of Halo 2 where it seemed players were able to change the color of the Elite's skin:

That was back when they had black detail paint on their armor though, you can see it again here:

Pax tickets are tempting, the $800 plane ticket isn't:(

Where are you flying in from? You can sometimes massively cut down the price of the plane by simply moving the fly-in date a day or so.

I agree with the last two points absolutely, I'm looking forward to see what innovative strides this series takes in this sense. I want to see the kind of craziness introduced into Halo 3; High Ground, The Elephant, Man Cannons, The Mongoose and much more.

I completely agree with you that the secondary/detail colors make a huge difference, however with the style of the armor the patterns they are implementing in Halo 4 look amazing with the Forerunner-inspired armor sets. If they went wild with color separation, it might look a bit odd on the complex armor pieces.

Agree on the first two. I think the answer to the second is, Infinity Slayer. It's the mode that is set up to fully implement all of the new systems (armor mods, ordnance drops, personal ordnance) and I am expecting to be the most popular playlist.

What I want to see is: what are the returning game types, and how are they updated?

We know the Oddball and bomb carriers can pass the ball/bomb to others, and they can catch it. We knew the flag carrier holds the flag in one hand and gets a magnum in the other. What else is going on? What new game types are there?

My wish list:

A proper Forge and Theater reveal. Video rendering, party viewing, the works. What are the other Forge environments? How flexible are they in terms of space and objects?

(And with that, I'm off to work. On Sunday. Oy.)

I have nerds from the Madden league thinking they can take me & Trasher in a 2v2, would be streamed, will update for hilarity.

Was this confirmed? Although, I came to the same conclusion seeing the Oddball footage.
It could make Grifball a lot more interesting, too.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we didnt get something significant besides those two

I feel as though there is at least 1 big gametype to announce. Hell, we haven't even been told about a proper Invasion replacement. Also, the new Oddball mechanics seem a bit too new to just be glossed over in an Assassination video, wondering if we'll hear more about this and if it's actually being redesigned further.

I believe, and I may be wrong about this, but I believe the armor skin color is tied to the secondary.

Yeah, I could swear there was a vidoc where a guy was running around with a different colored head..It looked a bit funky, but I would still love to have that level of control. Do you have any pics of those Halo 3 early customization options.

Eh, I say give people the option to do it and let them either make their own choices on how badass or goofy they look. Also, I would love for some Forerunner inspired armor with some nice, simple clean edges... What we have now is like Forerunner mixed with Hyabussa.

Was this confirmed? Although, I came to the same conclusion seeing the Oddball footage.

I don't think its been confirmed, but I suspect it will be there, at least as an option.. honestly, I like the idea of ball tossing.. I'm not sold on carrying a flag with a pistol though.

If it never comes back in any form, no tears will be shed.
