I still dislike the chara-design... but the boxart isn't that bad. But of course, it will "worsified" to fit to American and European tastes...

Expected boxart....I don't like where they place the title but well, all tales boxarts are pretty standard. They just put character artwork and the title artwork...

Oh, 'for everyone' rating...then becoming teen in NA for no apparent reason. Well, time to start the marketing machine Namco...I want more videos, pics, tvcm and such.


(Hint: TotA can be ordered by 30$ at amazon)

Do you mean Abyss or Tempest? I'm not sure, because Abyss doesn't really have a confirmed date to my knowledge...

it's not set in stone that it will come out in the west.

I don't think that date is official though, but I hope so. Gives me plenty of time to playthrough Abyss before Tempest is released in Japan.

Cool boxart doesn't work with lame character designs. ;_; (I say this as someone for whom Tales of Symphonia was the third best game--across all home consoles and portables--of last gen.)
Between Half-Furry Dude, Huge Foofy Dress, Stick Girl, and Token Black Guy, it's honestly one of the least likable casts I've ever seen. Gameplay should still rock, though.

Why do you always judge characters based on looks? It's ridiculous.

Who knows if these character could be people you grow to care about. It's not like ToS (which you seem to love so much) had any amazing character design, it was extremely generic and uninteresting, but many found the characters to be likable.

ToS was generic, but this just bad IMO. I'll take generic character designs over bad character designs.

I think you missed my point here. I don't care if either of you like the character design or not . I just think it's premature to determine whether or not the characters are likable based on just their looks.

I dunno, about the only game in the Tales series I'm holding any hope for is Abyss, and that hope is a byproduct of GAF hype, so I'm not expecting much ;) :(

The only 2 characters desings that are OK for me (I really dislike the others, specially the blond girl)...

I don't like the background... but it's in the same vein as the other games...

Man, I wanna know what Inomata was smoking when she designs Tales series characters. Other than Tales of Destiny, all of her designs just look so bad most of the time.

THen Symphonia has to be the exception, as i liked nearly every character´s art ;-)
But yeah, the 2 main characters of Tempest look ugly.

Alright, I'll concede that this is true for much of the series, but not in the case of this DS incarnation. At least, not the hero.

The hero's look makes a lot of sense in the context of the game's storyline :p

:lol , no kidding.

Strangely enough though, I did find an old scan with another battle background (looked like it was indoor), but the point still stands, the lack of battle screens with varying battle backgrounds is disturbing :=/

I have all sorts of problems with the visuals in this game, ranging from the technical stuff to the actual artwork. Nevertheless, yeah, I'm still quite interested in it, as I like the series.

A sword wielding hero and his spunky magic girl side-kick... how original. :)

I'd still buy the game if it made it to the states :(
