Well that ship has sailed now with all the preorders for deluxe gone :p

I sorta feel it was a mistake on my part preordering basic but I'm sure in a few years from now I'll be thanking myself for not going with a black color ;)

Yeah having a yellow console fits nicer with past iterations, also it's kinda unique and pikachu~~

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
did i only dream that it will include the dlc content, that back story comic and a exclusive weapon thingie? it will also include the full online mode. it could have been much worse.

Ah yes. It includes one extra weapon, and apparently From Ashes, as well as the back story comic (which is absolutely essential). I still don't think it's good enough for a late end-trilogy port, when existing DLC could be bundled in for easy value.

And I don't think having 'full online mode' is an incentive. It's part of the package that is the game. The wasteland that was the Wii's online service is over. To not have online in a Wii U release would be positively insane.

Yeah, I think the white looks better and I don't need the extras. The problem for me is the sticks on the pad, with white sticks you just know they will get discolored after a while. That's not a problem with black sticks, though the black will make prints much more visible...

Speaking of ports, I'm really curious to see how MH3U performs and if it will outsell the original MH3 for the Wii. I've said before that Capcom would be wise to release a console version of MH near the launch of a console to help attract new buyers that possibly wouldn't give it a second thought 3-4 years in the consoles lifecycle. Now that they're doing this I see massive potential for the franchise.

If you are talking Japan, I don't think so. I can see it easily breaking 500K though.

No, I'm talking about the West. Releasing MH3U early in March along with strong advertising could do wonders.

Edit: When I say launch, I mean launch window.

Yeah it could do pretty well. We'll see.

The sad thing about ME3 is that it would have been such a great opportunity to release 'Mass Effect Trilogy', or something, with all three games on one disc.

After TTT 2's reveal of Nintendo constumes and a bonus Mushroom mode it wouldn't surprise me if it performed well.

Performing well: Zombi U, Assassin's Creed III, Tekken TT 2, Sonic & Sega All Star Racing Transformed, Call of Futy Black Ops II, Just Dance 4.

Performing okayish: Batman AC Armored Edition, FIFA 13, Rayman Legends, Epic Mickey 2, Sports Connection, Scribblenauts, Game Party Championships, Madden 13.

Bombing: Mass Effect 3, Darksiders 2, Transformers Prime, Marvel's The Avengers

I would agree with this list going forward. My interest in ME3 has peaked do to looking for something different from the average team deathmatch mutliplayer and I do like the unverse from playing the first game. However I do think it will do badly in the end and agree that EA will foolishly if not stupidly use it as a test game to decide if other games should go on the system. Especially do to how they've been acting. So I'll stick with ZombiU and Black Ops at first. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I don't think they could release ME1 since that was published by Microsoft.

I lost my wii (it got stolen) :(

I'll probably jump on this if it gets homebrew. That's pretty much a dealbreaker for me. Being able to load my games from the HDD is a godsend.

all 1st party games you wil be able to load from an HDD, and hopefully a lot of 3rd party.

anyways, Homebrew was awesome on wii(besides pirating). I know it would never happen, for several reasons, but it would be awesome if Nintendo promoted or made homebrew available as a feature, or something kinda like it.

I don't see how the Wii U will ever lose BC with the Wii. There's no extra component in the Wii U specially made for Wii BC, therefore nothing will be "thrown out" in order to reduce cost.

I am not a tech head, but couldnt they throw out the hardware chip or something? If it is not straight up emulated. Not sure if it would be cost effective, but BC is not just controller ports.

I think that there's some speculation that MS has the exclusive rights to the original ME, so there's no way for EA to port it to other consoles.

They can't since enhanced Wii hardware is what powers Wii U.

What is the general consensus on Wii U's design? I've always though there's some personality to most of Nintendo's platforms. Even the ones that are hideous (original DS, original 3DS) still have some sort of charm that tells you what kind of platform they are.

Wii U though, just looks very 'standard', like an external HDD, or one of those machines you use to warm your shoes.
I've always thought Wii U looked extremely boring, but it's beginning to grow on me a bit. At least it looks better than the PlayStation 3 Super Slim.

Wii U looks too similar to Wii while being inferior in every way at the same time. Even though it isn't strictly part of the console, the two-piece vertical stand, in particular, looks terrible compared to Wii's. I'd really like to see a picture of how it looks standing vertically, though.

Hmmm. So as far as Wii is concerned, do we have an idea how Nintendo is going to do BC? Similar to 3DS/Wii in a sandboxed-y closed of legacy mode? History would dictate that that would mean Wii hacks would work for these modes at least *can't have no Wii region locking rearing it's ugly head again*

Besides, Monster Hunter at the japanese Wii U launch and import prices pretty much equal to what the German price is shaping up to be? Did Big N think that through?...

White gloss ≠ white matte ;)

Had a white wii since mid-2007 and it's still just as pretty now as it was back then :3

Ohh, I'm a slowpoke haha. Yeah most of my white Wii equipment looks pretty ace still, but the "usable" areas like sticks and d-pads have yellowed out on quite a few motes :(

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Gamepad while it's charging? I assume you can, but you never know.
Yes, I'm sure it's possible. At first, I didn't understand why Nintendo made the charger a regular outlet charger instead of USB, but then I realized that it isn't a good idea to keep the GamePad tethered to the console. The GamePad is now able to be used with any outlet in any room. I can't believe I overlooked the benefit of that decision.

I'm wondering for someone who never played Mass Effect, would ME3 be a recommended buy at launch?

When you take away all the fuss made of the ending is it still a good game?

the gamepad in some different colors will be painful to see. Hope I don't buy another because of some new color

I have a feeling we wont since it seems Nintendo doesn't want the console itself to standout. It's possible that we might see other controller colors. I wouldn't mind an atomic purple one!

The issues with the ending were a) overblown b) solved with the Extended Cut c) what wasn't solved is up for everyone's own interpretation and d) won't matter to you anyway since you'll not have played the first games and the summary comic will present it in a way that won't raise any red flags.

I want a Red WiiU!

The red Wii is gorgeous... a WiiU gamepad in the same color would be grand :D

That's not speculation that's fact. Why do you think ME2 never came out on PS3 or no Trilogy has been announced for any platform really? It's a stupid situation for BioWare and I hope for them that the deal has an expiration date.

The way I look at it with Darksiders 2 is that i'll walk into Gamestation on launch day and see a brand new Wii U version for anywhere between £39.99-£49.99 and a used PS3 version will probably be selling for £20.

I was really tempted to pre-order, but i'll just get the cheaper PS3 version as and when.

Same goes for Mass Effect 3.
For me it depends. If they add a little bit to the ports in terms of resolution, anti aliassing, framerate or texture detail, i just might consider them at that price.

I dunno about them fixing the resolution or texture detail. Heck, the PC version scarcely supports 1080P. It DOES have all the available DLC including all the dumb preorder bonuses and Argul's Tomb though.

I've been intentionally holding off on getting it until Wii U releases. It's getting steadily more difficult to justify though. BB had the PC premium version for 40 bucks last week.

Here before some people will make their Jessica Chobot for a few seconds and lick the white & red gamepad that looks like a candy !

I would much rather prefer no part of Jessica Chobot to touch my Gamepad. Especially not the wet ones...

EDIT: Come to the chat with your Chobot phantasies. :p

I was wondering the same thing.

Like D-e-f- already said, there will be games that can be fully played on the gamepad
but some (like ZombiU) won't.
it all depends on how the developers manage the use of the gamepad and their game
but so far just a few games support the Off-TV Play function

I went to the Wii U Experience in LA on Friday. I made a video of the trip with my impressions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMhsUk3Aht4

Overall, I thought the Gamepad/Pro controller worked really well. The best looking games on the floor were made by Nintendo. ZombiU was definitely fun to play too. It really made me wish I had pre-ordered it, but that's what I get for being poor!
