Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

might I be the first to say "RIP Halo"?

I know Paul, loves Halo. Shame the game did that to him.

Thing is though, for every juices, kyle, u4ix, devo, ghaleon that leaves and are disappoint with the changes they gain an ozzy, deadly cyclone, nullpointer who like/enjoy some of the difference in the games.

What I mean is, reading haloGAF is one thing, but then you read the comments at ign who say it's the best fps ever made, and I can see why 343 isn't doing much to change the game they released. They don't know who to listen to.

Sorry to 'call out' anyone and if you feel it's unfair please let me know, I am a junior after all.

Ignoring all the above, and just having read the bulletin and tweet:

343 - That bulletin and tweet told me the opposite of what I want to hear from you.
You're tearing us apart. You're the Lisa in this fucked up relationship.

even in the case halo 4 was a perfect game the black screens while scoreboard is changing ruins the fucking experience.

it's not just me, I ask random players all the damn time and seems like its a fairly common problem. not to mention i see players that look afk only for them to come back and saynthey were black screen. only time I ever got black screens in reach was host migrations.

what the fuck is this game doing.

half my fucking total deaths are due to lag or black screens while some players are playing. what does 343 expect me to do move to the US? lol

So, in April, on the month of my birthday, we'll finally be getting visible, skill based, 1-50 ranks per playlist? Goes without saying that I'd have preferred them last November, especially given that we requested them repeatedly since the game's announcement, but I'll put that frustration to one side and say thank you.

Depending on how much is learnt and expanded upon from the community test playlist, which I'm definitely enjoying, there is a glimmer of hope.

I'm in the US and I still get this issue too, all the time. It's ridiculous because quitting is at an all time high for Halo in 4.

Visible? Read the bulletin again

Man lots of salt at that update. I'll give my take on it.

The camper stuff was cringeworthy...

Grifball but specifically team dubs being planned to be permanent is good.

Finally an update on the ranking system. We knew it was gonna be waypoint only, don't know where this outcry is coming from. Hell, the waypoint only system is better than what Reach had since its on all playlists. Still sucks that its this late and not in game.

Hints at slayer pro and "competitive" playlists. I will say, if they fuck up the slayer pro settings I will forever think they are incapable of creating a Halo game I want to play

I retract my previous post, then.

Waypoint only is a backwash implementation and yet another example of them not really understanding what indeed its fans want. Played two half decent games of a Forge Lockout remake last night, and in 12 hours I've gone from that, a glimmer of hope, to having no hope at all.

So yet another bulletin with no update on anything worth a damn. At this point I think it's safe to write off the multiplayer. At least there is still campaign and Spartan Ops.

I'm going to point out that the lack of "You guys are right! MLG forever!" does not equal no information.

First off I'm not a big MLG fan. There was no real information. You damn well know it when you'e adding a nice large chunk dedicated to how you love to camp in game.

Ignore that. We got more info on CSR and when it's being deployed. We got playlist updates, we got some info on future playlists and their plans. Yeah they didn't give us a TU blowout, and it would be nice for BSAngel to add in her Twitter comments regularly So people aren't left out of the loop, but I would say that's useful info.

343 has to be the most tone deaf developer in the entire industry. And I'm not saying that like "oh they're not listening to HaloGAF", it's more like... who are they doing this stuff for?

I want to say it's self serving since they said they're making the halo they want to play, but they keep trying to fix it every time a certain community freaks out. This game isn't what they want to do and it isn't anything close to what we want to play.

Halo RIP in peace

All these so called bulletins and how poor of a game Halo 4 is, I ain't even mad anymore. This is just sad and pathetic on 343i end.

Why does this game start a match when there's only 4 players. The JIP system doesn't work well enough for people to hop in before you win a 3 on 1 CTF match.

Unfortunately, the Infinity playlist population. That's where the 'big' numbers are, so 343 most likely sees it as where to base their tweaks to the game from.

Personally, I abhor the Infinity gametypes and was beyond irritated to hear that CTF will be getting Infinited. Hopefully that doesn't mean that the current CTF will go away, but so far there are no gametypes that conflict with each other in the playlists. Maybe they'll just throw it in the Infinity Slayer list to cull two extra people in favor of a shitload of one-hit-kill weapons.

No Theater for Campaign and Spartan Ops was expected, but still completely lame. I guess the hope for scoring in either mode is equally as futile.

My current sentiments after reading the update:

fans of Halo = Charlie Brown
Halo franchise = football
343 Industries = Lucy

Why wouldn't he? Aside from the suckers that got the Map Pass, what incentive is there to get the next DLC pack? The sought-after honor to be one of the 500 cool kids in the Majestic playlist?

343i can try to force the DLC down people's throats by trying to turn the base playlists into a ghetto, but at this point they would be pushing on a string.
I get new maps in big team and team slayer all the time.

I must say, as peak populations drop like a rock and Halo 4 continues to descend down the XBL activity ranks, I thought it was great that B.S. Angel spent the first half of the bulletin describing how she camps in Halo 4. That was very reassuring. I appreciate the strong post-release vision 343 has for this game, it makes me want to keep playing. I Trust Them.

Yeah it is. I can see him going to Gears and broadening his channels content. Not a bad thing, but it shows just how bad Halo 4 is.

On another note, Waypoint still sucks. The site needs simplifying and toning down so it loads fast and isn't a horror to navigate. Really starting to find the weekly bulletin to be a chore to read and a disappointment every week.

Extra annoyed at this:
"I hope you found answers to a few of your most asked questions..."
Can I ask where they are getting this pool of questions from? The Bulletin did nothing to answer most questions I see on numerous boards.

Also no FFA being implemented. Loved Throwback FFA to bits, even if it was alongside Halo 4's mechanics.

This in particular is ridiculous. I end up just googling for the bulletin and filtering for the past week. The bulletin should be something that's front and center to the community.

RIP Red X's. Can't tell where enemy is. Teammate died in our own base? How would I know?

No one uses fucking mics.

THIS GAME.

WHY SO MANY MISTAKES.

I honestly think they coded the JIP system with the thought that there would always be more than 100,000 players currently on the game at any given time. In theory, if there were twice as many people still playing the game as there are now, the JIP wouldn't be such a headache.

Then again JIP never deserved to be in Halo.

Maybe. Halo 4 appears to be doing some significant damage to the brand. 343i can try a mea culpa save by claiming they've found Jesus and will "return to the roots" of Halo but they've already been trying that line without a lot of success.

Halo 5 or Halo: Spartan Ops or whatever the next title is will certainly have a far more cynical player base; although I suppose many people don't care as long as the campaign is decent (understandable) and they get at least one-two weeks of casual multiplayer out of it. And what other major IP does Microsoft control that they can base keystone marketing on until next gen? Not many options so advertising dollars are guaranteed to some extent even if Halo 4 falls off the activity chart and the online population is swimming down with the likes of Crysis 2 MP.

The problem is they have been trying that line and not changing shit. Other than the Forge playlist what have they done? I don't even think there been a patch since Nov.

While I disagree with your tone time and time again. The lack of clear cut details regarding ... anything from 343 is incredibly disheartening.

I like BS angel and its nice to know about her personal feelings towards halo but when those feelings make up a bigger % of a blog than the reveal of a new ranking system does we should be worrying.

The weekly updates 343 put out are not a patch on those wrote by frankie and his successors during the bungie era and that's the tip of the problematic ice berg.

We have very little in details regarding what 343 are going to do to fix halo. Its clear that for the next year competitive Halo 4 is at the least hindered because its not getting any form of MLG playlist or MLG attention.

Amongst all this we have vauge promises to a TU and "exciting maps" If the maps are even remotely like those on disc and in the crimson map pack then that excitement is entirely without cause. I don't know who is responsible for the maps creation I assume its CA and if the past few years have taught me anything its that CA maps are aesthetically pleasing but suck when it comes to gameplay.

I want to like Halo 4 so much but its got serious faults and 343i need to step up, acknowledge that they goof'd and start fixing it. The population is so low because the game is bad. Its cause and effect at it simplest.

The bone I'll give 343 is that I don't expect much out of the bulletins other than a short column of anything by bsangel. As much as I'd want her to bust out one week and say "WE'RE MAKIN' ALL THE FIXES YOU ASKED FOR" it's probably best to stop betting on some playlist update or TU, you should just give up on Halo 4 right now if it's not for you unless they actually put out something worthwhile down the line.

I mean as nice as it would be getting a weekly pat on the back in the form of a detailed and reassuring post about upcoming updates, it's not like this is a thing I expect out of any developer.
