Does 3DS include digital sales for all the games?

And Paper Mario already past 1 million outside of Japan, not bad.

1.98 mil Nintendo land overseas... Probably around 1.8 mil deluxe Wii U units outside japan?

I'm pretty impressed with paper mario

Edit: missed that it includes download versions. A bit less than 1.8 then, perhaps

B/W2 did great for a "3rd" Version. Will it end up being the best one of those released? Yeah I know it's not really the same thing. I think it's also foolish to look at these numbers and think that Mario Kart's new popularity was only due to the bigger install bases on Wii and DS. The franchises definitely grew somewhat.

compared to MKW's 34 million, MK7's 7.7 million look like a failure.

i still can't believe that game sold that high. i can understand the NSMB games being in the 30 million club or close since the old 2D Marios were really popular but Mario Kart was barely a 10 million beast until the DS and Wii came around.

if only they could get half of those users to buy MK8 on Wii U when it comes out...

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
No Kid Icarus Uprising :(

And MK7 and SM3L at 8M, I knew it.

I kind of think Kid Icarus has a bit of an image problem that probably hurts its sells.

"Kid Icarus", the name itself which sounds like a weird 80s cartoon, and the box-art featuring an angel, just doesn't seem like something that's attractive to modern games who aren't familiar with the NES game.

yeah, what happened with zelda?

it's probably down with majora's mask. last numbers were over 3m, and it's probably still between 3m-4m.

worst-selling zelda is the minish cap (maybe less than 2m). worst-selling 3d zelda is majora's mask (3m).

Japanese counting system doesn't have a unit for 1 million. They have one for 1000, and 10,000. A million is 100 ten thousands. ひゃくまん 百万

:( i never imagined a day where zelda becomes on the same level as the metroid franchise in terms of sales.

Zelda sells but they didn't include it because its not as impressive as the other huge numbers. The only reason Mario Party is up there is because it came out in 2012.

MK7 is one year old, with 7.7 million. MKWii with one year had sold 17.4 million.

Not really, the tie ratios are about the same IIRC. It's not like MK7 is suddenly going to stop selling either.

Handheld is a bit lower, which is not unexpected given past performance:

MKWii after 1 year: 17.4 / 52.6 = 33%
MK7 after 1 year: 7.7 / 29.8 = 26%

MKDS after 1.25 year: 7.0 / 40.3 = 17%

I know these are pretty "poor" numbers for a series the likes of Zelda but I'm sure they are publishers out there who'd love worst-selling 3m titles.

I can't ducking believe NSMB DS sold 1 mil in 2012. Unreal.

but the Metroid series is now on F-Zero level sales after other m...

does that mean zelda became metroid and metroid became f-zero now that f-zero is dead?

Looks like Paper Mario: Sticker Star is going to reach the heights of at least The Thousand Year Door and probably around Super Paper Mario. Also Mario Tennis Open sold surprisingly well.
