Atsushi Inaba annoyed on twitter, tells people truth about Revengeance clear-time

EatChildren

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I can't think of a single game in recent memory where pre-launch reports of length considered the game short. Happens every time a game leaks early too. There's a vocal group of people moaning about the length.

If you're playing an action brawler only once you're doing it wrong. As I said in the other thread, value is in what I play, not what I don't.

I sunk 70 hours into Bayonetta. I think my fastest clear time on normal was 3 hours. These games are not that long once you know exactly where to go and how to best tackle enemy encounters.

Oh, I know. I'm just referencing things like side quests and copious amounts of loot. A guy I worked with absolutely refused to play Vanquish because he claimed that it would be a waste of 3 hours, whereas he could play Mass Effect for 300 and "not be bored".
Haha, I'm the opposite. A game like Mass Effect I only play twice. Once all good, once all evil. Yet a great character action game I'll spend 100 hours mastering it. Even DMC4, which at the time was somewhat of a letdown for me, I spent 96 hours.

Since I'm trying to keep relatively spoiler-free, I think VR Missions are structured like the Alfheim's in Bayonetta, they're hidden and you have to access them in-chapter. I'm not entirely clear how the VR Missions work in this game. Anyone better informed please correct if wrong.

Awesome.

Reaplayability is subjective. Also, please don't tell me what games I should enjoy.

Reaplayability of character action games is subjective, I don't disagree. But the game is set up like an arcade game, its going to be much easier to jump right in compared to any other game on the market, sans arcade remakes.

Also, I'm not telling you to not enjoy video games of the lengthy variety. I'm suggesting that its absolutely stupid to dismiss a game based on length. You should care about the quality of the content rather than the pure length.

Would you like to point out at what part in that post he specifically told you that?

Ummm, I was quoting whiteshirt....

I think it varies by how many games one buys in a year. If you only buy a handful of games, overall length of enjoyment is a factor to consider.

No, the internet perception can do so much damage to a game these days especially for a studio like Platinum. I think it's good they are active on Twitter and very vocal about their games.

i haven't seen masses of "too short" complaints for revengeance before, that's why i don't think there ever was a false perception. you can power through many games in just a few hours if you know them in and out, that isn't new.

Between 2/sigma 2 I probably have 150 hours in NG2

One of my friends is in the camp of.
A games is only good if it's long, since he loves doing the whole 60 hours for 60 dollars thing. Needless to say it's always rubbed me the wrong way, espeiclly since if those 3 hours are damn fine Im fine with paying the 60. All about the quality of whats there.

Looking at the amount of times he died, it's not hard to assume that he played for at least double, plus however long the cutscenes are.

I'm not concerned.

Like I said earlier, replayability is subjective. :)

I don't deny that but don't you at least have an idea beforehand of what you intend to spend time on mastering and what you just want to play once, based on what you like and other information? Screenshots such as the one discussed in this thread don't help either way.

Any good deals on this? Normally wouldn't be cheap on title I know I'm going to love, but trying to justify a double dip on RE6 PC lol.

They're hidden collectibles, but you can access them from anywhere (main game menu, in-game menu).

It is almost like games have to sneak out and try to let people know it exist while also not grabbing everyones attention right before release. There will be one thing a game always gets murdered over.

Best Buy preorder nets you a $20 reward zone coupon and Walmart preorder comes with the soundtrack. That's all I know of.

Excellent. I'll definitely be chopping up random objects where they may be hidden then.

Well, they're hidden in plain sight. If you're rushing through levels, you may miss them, but if you go off the beaten path, you'll run into some. I half-assed looking for them and found about ... half?

What the hell are with people in this thread claiming that playtime doesn't matter? Playtime absolutely matters unless I'm paying like, twenty dollars or less.

The difference is that with most modern games, i'm probably going to be getting less than 8 hours or so of playtime out of it. I am going to be getting much, much more than that out of Rising.

Getting your dollar's worth in content is the most important thing when you're buying a game. And this game, with it's multiple difficulties and many different weapons, has a shitload of content.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I will say it is really disappointing that people try to use a single screen in the game to try and create negative buzz.

Is Inaba new to the internet or something ?

That's ALL we do.

Which is why if I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to trout slap people through the internet.

Seems like it is too late for this game, but it would be cool if difficulties weren't locked (or were very, very easy to unlock) in TW101 and Bayo 2. I mean, you guys did it so right in Vanquish and Anarchy Reigns.

You're absolutely right but some people don't see core gameplay systems and replays as part of their content kicks. Hell, for them, "a shitload of content" might mean extra mini games, roster size or a 50+ hour campaign.

I'm wondering who said that as that's pretty much a speed run.

There's an unlock in Bayonetta that requires you to have a game clear time of under 3 hours.

It's not that hard to get, but that's because it functions under the same rules as Vanquish and Revengeance.
