Denmark, Finland, and Norway are all winner material, which I think might actually work against them (as the 12s will be spread out between them rather than end up on one nation).

Well, the winner of the last contest always automatically qualifies.
The "Big 5" are the 5 members that pay the most for the EBU, so they automatically qualify too. That was in response to Germany bitching being disqualified some time in the 90s.

Turkey is so miffed about that, they pulled out.

Yet Turkey pretty much never failed to qualify to the finals AND make it to the Top 10 once the televoting was introduced in the early 2000s.
I think they only ONCE didn't qualify to the finals, in 2011.
