RETRO STUDIOS: Will we finally see their mystery WiiU title at this year's E3?

It's possible that Retro is working on Murasama Castle.

A lot of people we're speculating this, Nintendo made a game of it in Nintendo Land and it's apparently finally getting localized outside of Japan.

I wouldn't be shocked if I don't know if Retro is doing it but there happen to be a Murasama Castle Wii U in development.

Mario Kart will probably have some neat online features. Konno and his team always seemed to understand that aspect much better than the rest of Nintendo. MKDS (the first "modern" online Nintendo game), MKWii (leaderboards, tournaments), MK7 (communities), etc.

I second this. Konno is way ahead of anyone else at Nintendo when it comes to online.

For Nintendo's sake, if they want to shake the stigma about their online services, they need one of their giant mass market franchises, Mario Kart and/or Smash, to have some killer online features.

And yet, the butt-munches took single-player Versus out of MK7 when it had worked so beautifully in MKWii and MKDS for quick sessions where I just want to play one course against a full field of AI.

They're options scrooges, I tells ya. Sakurai remains the one dude at Nintendo who truly appreciates letting gamers play their games the way they want.

I really hope it's a brand new IP with some never-before-seen game mechanics. If it's just another FPS/3rd person adventure shooter I am going to be rather upset!

Also, it better support every one of the damn crazy control features Wii U has: Wiimote/Nunchuck, Gamepad, Pro U Controller, and definitely Off-TV Play!!

Konno is Miyamoto's top apprentice. It's probably heresy among Nintendo Fans, but I look forward to the day that he takes a leadership role and Miyamoto retires or takes on an advisory role. Miyamoto is a brilliant man in many ways, but myopic in others.

It will be a very interesting time at Nintendo when Miyamotos era comes to an end. I'm sure it will be sad for many (me included) but some new blood/ideas at the top could be exactly what Nintendo needs.

If they go Metroid, I really hope they don't make it into a western action game. The last thing we need is a Metroid that relies heavily on cover mechanics and quick time events.

The very thought sends a chill down my spine. I can't imagine they would do this.

Metroid Other M was that action Metroid game no one asked for. Honestly, what a stupid idea to make Team Ninja work on it. :(

Western developed Metroid games were never as bad as OtherM so far.

It boggles my mind that communities did not become an OS level thing.

Realistically I think it's either Metroid Prime 4 to 'rescue' the series after M:OM bombed or a Star Fox reboot, though I think I'd prefer Platinum be doing the latter after 101/Bayo 2.

Less likely but more preferable to me could be DKCR2 (know I'm in the minority but I'd be down with this), a proper 3D DK (blend of DKC/DKJB/DKJC with only passing resemblances to DK64?), a big 'what the hell' project like Doki Doki Panic/Mac Rider/Star Tropics or an original and major new IP.

I know, I just don't want Metroid to be the guinea pig they use to play their hand at a more western focused game. It's never seemed compatible with Nintendo's culture, but there seems to be a lot of investor pressure from their meetings to westernize their game output.

Is anyone else worried about Gamepad uses in Prime 4? I fear scanning will be the new waggle. Hated scanning in lego city, its a hassle and not fun at all :/

I second this notion and think any game that makes you 'look around' with the gamepad needs to let you do so with the analog stick as well.

They allow for analog 'scanning' in ZombiU, but for some reason it's impossible to set to inverted no matter what your control settings are.

I love Retro but I didn't care for MP3 very much.

I wish someone would put a Smash Bros Brawl level of effort into Mario Kart.

Such squandered potential.

Cast your votes!

They really need to at least announce the title of the game at the show. Ideally a trailer.

I hate "latest forum trends" and all but what the hell, it's fitting for this thread:

"Be excited for Star Tropics U!!!!"

Star Tropics us my vote and gut guess.

Hopefully mp4 still retains the wii motion controller functionality but with wii motion plus. Mp3 didn't even utilize motion plus and it felt amazing. Maybe use the gamepad as the scanner, thermal, xray visor?

I have no idea what they're making.

If sales were the deciding factor, they'd be making DKCR2.

If Nintendo wants to salvage Metroid, it'd be MP4.

But it could be whatever pops into their heads.

GAH.

Retros title could be the spiritual successor to Tank! Tank Tank! for all we know.... But let us pray for mp4.

At this point how could it not be Mario Kart? Nintendo needs to sell Wii Us, a new IP or even Metroid isn't going to give them the boost they need.

Mariokart sells even if the game is mediocre so we dont need waste retros talent for Mariokart.. You know that Fps is pretty popular these days.. so Metroid prime has more potential to sell than back in days.

I don't think it would be a waste of talent personally but Retro doing it doesn't make that much sense as they need some variety in the lineup of huge games and the Mario Kart team can make another worthy one in their sleep.

Thats why it waste because they cannot fill that lineup variety what Nintendo needs if they are making Mariokart. People are going to say that Nintendo is even more doomed if thats tend to be a true.

Unless the Mario Kart team was doing something crazy in turn but Retro's game should veer on the side of a Metroid type "edginess".

I am not burnt out by Mario and am a huge fan of Mario Kart but it'd be really cool if Retro did something big and something new...then again, if it's another Metroid, I would be all over it all the same.

If they are making new metroid then I believe they are making new trilogy.. I think Metroid prime is done here..

Agreed. The new game will not be called Metroid Prime 4.

I guess it's an easy way to refer to its potential existence, but I think Prime is over and done with. The destruction of Dark Samus eliminated what was left of Metroid Prime, unless they retcon it.

Will it be first person though???

(I hope so)
