Mattrick and Spencer Talk Games in OXM

It's Bloodwake. See the water behind him? The pose is that of having just won a hard fought race and he's wearing what looks like a rubber suit.

IT'S BLOODWAKE. IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it's

Quantum Leap
Forza
Ryse
Respawn Game
Fable MMO
Gears
Halo
Black Tusk Studio game
Rare Game

So that's 9.

Meh, I was one of the last few Rare fanboys holding out. I stuck by them when everyone else was saying they were finished.

I gave up hope years back though. A lot of the top talent has left. I just don't think they could do the KI name justice or whatever classic they're working on. Banjo-minigames was one of the worst games I've ever played in my life, and after that it was just kinnect stuff which I haven't played but doesn't look too appealing either way.

I really hope it's not Killer Instinct, but it's Killer Instinct.

Sadly it'll probably be sent to die and be used as justification not to necromance any other Rare titles.

Haven't anyone came up with this game?

I can do an account bet on this over who doubt it.

Yea I'm pretty certain that the Rare revival will be KI...unfortunately I wouldn't trust current Rare with any of their classic franchises.

Edit: I forgot about that picture, which does indicate Wizards and Warriors, but if that's the case it probably will be nothing but a Kinect centric affair.

So it's

Quantum Leap
Forza
Ryse
Respawn Game
Fable MMO
Gears
Halo
Black Tusk Studio game
Rare Game

So that's 9.

It's worth pointing out that if Spencer (and other sources) are to be believed, then the 15 exclusives (8 of which are new IPs) are actually Microsoft Studios games, ie first party.

That would remove Ryse (Crytek), Titan (Respawn) and Quantum Break (Remedy) from the count.

Studio list (copied from Wikipedia) is;

United States
343 Industries – Halo series
Connected Experiences – Untitled Project – Design Large scale multiplayer title and help other first party studios
Good Science Studio – Next generation Kinect title
Kids and Lifestyle Entertainment – Next generation fitness project - Original IP
Microsoft Studios – Los Angeles – Next generation core cinematic title
Microsoft Studios – Mobile Gaming – ilomilo
Microsoft Studios – Redmond Publishing – Overseeing and co-developing multiple projects in conjunction with third party development studios based in the Americas and Canada
Platform Next Studios – Next generation core title
Playful Learning – Next generation family project
Skybox Sports – Next generation sports project
Turn 10 Studios – Forza Motorsport series
Twisted Pixel Games – LocoCycle
Xbox Live Productions –

Europe
Lionhead Studios – Fable series, Black & White series, Unannounced MMO-like New IP - (2 team studio - Concurrent development of Fable: The Journey, Fable Heroes and an unannounced next generation title)
Lift London – Multiple Cloud Based gaming projects
Microsoft Studios – EMEA Publishing – Overseeing and co-developing multiple projects in conjunction with third party development studios based in Europe, Middle East and Asia regions
Press Play –
Rare Ltd. – 3 team studio - Concurrent development of various titles
Soho Productions –

Canada
BigPark –
Black Tusk Studios – Untitled Project - (an unannounced next generation title)
Microsoft Studios Victoria – Untitled Project

Asia
Microsoft Studios - Osaka - Untitled projects

As for the Skydiver guy with the Rare logo, it's assumed as per above that they have 2-3 projects currently in development.

Didn't Phil said that at E3 we would see first party games from 4 different continents? That list makes sense with that statement considering the new Osaka studio.

Man I really am hoping that it's Lost odyssey two in the works but I am still skeptical. The game sold fine right?

I want Lost Odyssey 2 out of that Osaka studio. Instead of making it turn based make it something like Dark Souls or FFXII.

I think the historic Rare IP is R.C. Pro Am. All past entries were critically praised. They have a lot of ex-Codemasters people and a couple guys behind Sonic All-Star Racing. Rare has had concept art and prototypes for racers a couple times over the last few years. The MS portfolio has a gap in it for an extreme, power-up and weapon racer. It's an old IP a lot of people probably don't remember, but I'm sure it could be revived.

On the other hand, MS did go through all that trouble with Fox to get back the use of the Killer Instinct trademark just recently. Exciting times either way.

I still think the other Rare game is Kinect Sports Resort with jet skis, sky diving, etc. Since avatars are out they're just using human models. It makes sense to have a Kinect Sports sequel to showcase Kinect capabilities at launch.

I think it crossed the half million mark, but never broke one million.

Would be awesome I the rare game was a new Jet Force Gemini or Perfect Dark but unfortunately it will probably Killer Instinct.

Microsoft Studios is the name of their publishing label. Doesn't have to be internally developed games, just games published by Microsoft.

Could be it. Actually the Wikipedia entry needs updated because I think, judging by the Reveal map, they opened a studio in Mexico too;

Personally I feel this marks a shift away from third party moneyhats to more reliance on their own internal studios, for what reason I can't say.

Was over 700k worldwide after it's first year IIRC. I feel it qualifies under "good enough" for a sequel. Osaka seems the obvious candidate for it I suppose.

First party published. In his own words:

I'm proud to announce that Microsoft Studios plans to release more than 15 exclusive games in the first year of Xbox One, 8 of which are brand new franchises.

So it's 15 at worst, maybe more, and it's release, not develop, so that also covers Ryse and Quantum Break (we don't know who's publishing Titan yet).

The map is probably not very precise, that would likely be Twisted Pixel in Austin, Texas (otherwise it's not on the map).

Were making a crap ton of core games with awful Kinect integration...

Maybe I'm wrong, we'll find out soon enough.

Thats might be true but I dont thing Mistwalker are involving in last odyssey 2.

A new LO would almost be a system seller for me. I dont think Sakaguchi is on board with it though :(

Sadly seems that way. As I said before, I have reason to believe there will be an LO2, but I'm really hoping they bring in the Gooch for it. Offloading it to their Osaka studio wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but...I guess the Final Fantasy fan in me just can't resist Sakaguchi/Uematsu.

Right, I missed that.

I would assume Respawn will publish Titan themselves. Realistically it's hard to imagine it being anything other than a timed exclusive.

Yep, would explain why we didn't hear anything more about it like we have with Osaka.

you sure do a lot of betting in this thread.

Anyway, I wonder how many of the 15 will be in a presentable state for E3? Half seems like too many but that'd be awesome.

This is more than bet.. It is realistic vision.. They dont have anymore those minds who made Rare a as we remember back in the day.

Yeah now they have new minds that can do new things. I doubt the people that left Rare were the only talented folk in all of Europe.

Is EA even involved with Respawn's game anymore? Fuse is suppose to be the last EA Partner game. It could make sense that MS has picked up the publishing for Respawn.

EA is publishing and even funding the game. Unless they gave MS the publishing rights for some reason (and a price)
Seems people already forgotten their "core" oriented kinect titles.

Besides some "better with kinect" things, I can't remember many hardcore oriented titles for kinect from MS. Fable The Journey is one of those? In all honesty I've only played 2 kinect games (Adventures and Dance Central)

Is that shit even relevant these days? Fighters sell pretty badly right?

Mortal Kombat 9 sold well enough for WB Games to singlehandedly cover their purchase price for their Midway Games IP purchase (about $46 million, IIRC), and Tekken Tag 2 broke 1 million sales, so I'd say they're still relevant.

Yeah those fresh minds have been working kinetic games all the time.. Halo 4 and Gears of wars suffered when the key developers left the company.

I didn't know Microsoft had an Osaka studio. I always thought it was better for them to develop their own Japanese games rather trying to get the exclusive over there.
