Best Pokemon Soundtrack?

It's a toss up between BW and GS for me, including the sequels/remakes, but I'd give BW the edge because N's castle and final value music was godly.

Red/Blue/Yellow

As a kid I heard those tracks all the time, even when my Gameboy wasn't even on. It was actually kinda creepy, hearing the music in my head bacause I had played the game all day long ...

B2W2 has some really, really awesome songs. Fantastic rival and champion themes, and the World Tournament Final Battle song is soooo cool.

Team Magma/Aqua theme, this as epic as a Pokemon song can get in the anime.

The games:

Pokemon Black and White Legendary theme

Pokemon Black and white 2 Kanto champion

Pokemon R/S/E Meteor Falls

Just some of the top of my head. The majority has probably already been mentioned.

And the best Trainer, Elite Four, Champion and Legendray Battle Theme to ever grace a Pokemon game.
Trainer
Legendary
Elite Four
Champion
Which, arguably, are some of the best songs to ever be produced on the Gameboy Advance, let alone in the whole Pokemon series.
Not only being one of my favourite Pokemon games, but it also has one of the, if not the best, soundtracks for a Pokemon game.

So what say you GAF, what is your favourite.

Excellent pick. Actually, I can pinpoint the exact moment I began to appreciate Pokémon music to that track, the Trainer Battle music. Somehow, up to then, I'd always thought of Pokémon music as just there; it didn't really occur to me that the soundtrack could be good or bad (even though I did pay attention to other games' soundtracks). For a reason I still don't really understand, something clicked when I heard that music, and I realised, hey, Pokémon games have good music! My other favourites are Stadium and B&W.

Especially the Prime Cup music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q11h7FC7Kww

Galang

Banned
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is the best.

Regi Battle/Gym Battle/Elite Four/Champion... so much good stuff.

First generation is the worst. I thought each entry had better music, but R/B/Y's music has a lot going for it in nostalgia. I can remember it so clearly

Either black and white 2, for the team plasma theme and n battle, along with pretty much any legendary battle, or heart gold/soul silver. Some of those 8 bit versions were awesome.

I know the anime has already been mentioned, but I truly believe its soundtrack is its greatest merit, with some tragically underappreciated original work and arrangements of the games' soundtracks. Here are some of my favorites:
Arrangements (here's the full album playlist):
The Road to Cerulean City - From Mt. Moon
The Sea ver.2
Cycling
The High-speed Liner
Route 26
Ecruteak City
Oldale Town
Abandoned Ship
Cross the Sea (Hoenn Surfing Theme)
Twinleaf Town
Route 201

Anime Original Songs (here's the full album playlist):
Legend ver.2 (this one's my ringtone)
A Future Hope
Life's Purpose
...Such Sweet Sorrow
Enter Turtwig, Piplup and Chimchar!!

I could go on, but this is supposed to be only one or two songs already, so I'm pushing the envelope way too much as it is. These are what I consider to be some of the best songs to come out of Pokémon, most of them being arrangements of music from the games (the only on topic ones, technically :p). I wish Shinji Miyazaki could lend his talents to the games for a proper orchestral soundtrack, but until that (probably never) happens, this is the best we've got in terms of orchestral Pokémon music.

Gen 1/2 have some incredible songs that feel epic. Gen 3/4 are pretty good and have a few stand out songs, and Gen 5 sounds like garbage apart from a few songs that are decent. As someone who absolutely loves the Gen 5 Pokemon games (B/W and B2/W2 are awesome), the music was the most disappointing part of those games.

It's a crime that no one notified me of this thread. I'm only the biggest Pokémon music freak on this forum!

For me, it's RSE. Still the best overall soundtrack, even if I still prefer standalone songs from other soundtracks. There's awesome stuff like Mt. Pyre Outer Wall, the Surfing theme, that bouncy Rival Battle tune—phew, I could go on and on. Above all, it's a marvel they managed to cram so much excellent music onto that cartridge, and I think the leap in sound quality's pretty damn big. Not to forget, there's a lot of biting, percussive edge to the GBA soundtracks that the recent scores have lost, albeit at the benefit of cleaner samples.
