It is because of this game that I got into the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games later on.

First NES game I received as a gift.

as a dinosaur geek kid, it sounded like the best idea ever.

Yep. Played this when I was a kid. It really did (and still does) sound like the best idea ever. And it's just so...so shit.

Who else fell for this shit?

It's like every single early Godzilla game was varying degrees of "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?". Between this and the weird/awful SNES strategy game and the second NES game that was also strategy (I think)...we didn't get a proper, GOOD Godzilla game until the PS2 era. Though the Dreamcast Godzilla game was...kinda...fun...I guess? It was certainly different.

I'll have to go through this whole thread and multiquote everything I've played when I'm not on my phone (take that, other dude who played Ring of Red) but my contributions are:
Zombie Dinos from Planet Zeltoid, Alice in Wonderland (cd-i), backroad racers (dos), and the Space Cowboy MMO.

Windows 3.1 space city builder. Started out very promising, but it had a lot of bugs. Mine had a bug that eventually killed all the colonists no matter what you did. Rendered the game unplayable.

Pretty fun (for the time) mech game. There were 3 to choose from. I think you had to defend bases/checkpoints and destroy the enemy. I remember finishing this one.

Years ago I played this probably crappy kids game on PC called Rex.

I really want to re discover it but the only thing I can find about its existance is the box art found on some polish website. At least I know I didnt just make it up now

Did somebody say C64 games?

Wf6dWDk.jpg

It was a graphical text adventure game. I had no idea what I was doing. All I remember was at one point you give a monkey tobacco so he plugs up a hole in the boat with his tail. Yeah, it was THAT kind of game.

How about Fiendish Freddy's Big Top O'Fun
C64..

The amount of hours put into that game...

This game came in a cartridge for C64..
But anyone worth their salt remembers loading from tape...

How about this one:

Ridiculously hard, crazy premise, weirdest last boss ever...it's like the epitome of "weird late 80s NES game".

One of the first nes games I ever bought. Frustrated me to death, but somehow I managed to beat it. Final boss was awesome, but as a kid I didn't realize it was the infamous "flat woods monster".

...If you did than I just want to give you a fellow-GAFfer-bro-hug because this gave me such great nostalgia just for thinking about it and I now even voted for it on Gog.com and I hope it can happen a Mac Version for this game soon.

I remember wanting this game so badly. Then I played it at my cousin's house. Never was I so relieved that I didn't get it. I could taste the disappointment.

All really well made games. The Tiny Toons game even has a mini game version that is essentially G&W clones with Tiny Toons characters.
Frig yeah! Hot Wheels Turbo Racing! I had the PS1 version though. EEEVIL WEEEVIL

And Nemesis The Warlock on C64.
While I never played Nemesis, I did stumble upon a song remix you might enjoy.

As for my games:

And I'm hoping some of GAF did play this gem... bonus.com's Battlefield! Might have been my first online multiplayer game. I remember my parents getting angry at me for hogging the internet playing it because they couldn't make or receive phone calls. Lol, dial up.

I played a Sonic demo at E3 2004 when the DS was first made playable to the public. Well, "public." Sonic ran forward (his back to the screen), you slid the stylus really fast back and forth to make him run, and slid up to make him jump. It was dumb.

Anyone else here play that?

Go play Emperor Battle for Dune instead. It's much better.

This game was just a clone of Red Alert with Dune units.

Any old Mac Gamers here?

Glider Pro?

Played that a lot, in monochrome though. I had an uncle who was an Apple reseller during the eighties. This is the first computer I have ever owned myself, an Apple //c:

Notice how I ripped the metal sticker from a 512K Mac and glued it to bottom. I was 9 or 10 years old I think. I used the //c to play games like Space Quarks, Aztec, Castle Wolfenstein, Choplifter, stuff like that. The game I want to enter for this thread though is ...

Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

I can't think of anything I've played that was that obscure. Best I can do is this stupid flash game I spent most of my college IT class playing called Nanaca Crash:

Basically you decide the angle and power with which you get him by some girl on a bike, then you try and stay it motion as long as possible to set distance records. It might be my favourite game. Also it's flash.
I've been waiting on some work to upload and been playing this game. new high score is 989m

I feel so much shame right now
