I'm considering buying that amazon goldbox deal for the BD of Black Lagoon, but I don't know anything about the series. Anyone recommend it?

I'll get to it at one point, but for now I want something a bit more laid back.

I feel like I SHOULD watch Utena ASAP, but I feel like that show may lean a bit too close to the dark side. I like to pace myself when it comes to those kinds of shows.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Madoka Magica, but if I had one unavoidable problem with it, it would be that it gets
depressing as hell after the third episode. And it needed to be so it would be a good show.

I find anime to be at its best when it's able to adequately balance dark things with light things. Like Code Geass! That show was able to balance light-heartedness in a war-torn setting very well. I mean from what I've seen, the Precure series may have some share of dark moments to have a balance...sooner or later...

So I'll just catch up with this a little bit.

The batman images from yesterday are also a reason why I feel like I should give this series a shot.

Yeah I totally agree. I really absolutely loved Madoka even with its crushing suffering but I can't handle that all the time. I think that's something I really liked about Gurren Lagann. A good blend of the whole spectrum of emotions.

The first two season are pretty good. Lots of action and wanton violence. Neat stuff.

It has more naked boobs. On the whole the first one is better, but the last thirty seconds or so of the new ED are pure effects sakuga and that gets me stiffer than just more sex appeal.

Sweet episode overall. The anime is really selling me on wanting to check out the source material when all is said and done. The story is just quite good and has the right mix of action and compelling mystery for its storytelling.
The whole priestess part, I wonder if it will be explored before we reach the end
.

Daikfuku ought to stay around though.

Season 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon is pretty awesome.

On a related note, it's also one of the few animes that has a good english dub

This show doesn't make sense but I still like it. I think the MC is pretty witty and him being a
dog is a plus. I wonder how his sister knew that he was a dog though.
Also seems like breasts jokes is going to be a staple throughout the series.

First things first, I love the music in this series. Art style works for me to. That all being said, it has a little bit of a Madoka feel to it, and by that, I mean dark and
Potentially killing former magical girls or former humans
. I'm intrigued enough to probably give this one the full run.

...Did I miss a season? And is the plot actually moving in this show now? After two seasons of girl conquests, the plot is actually starting to progress?! I need that Jackie Chan meme, ASAP!

What the hell kind of a disguise is that? You can't disguise a celebrity with only glasses and expect people not to notice! Superman's disguise is more tricky than yours!

Y'know...For me to have any possibility of enjoying this show with its crazy logic involving people's common sense, I am going to pretend that it takes place in the universe of Gurren Lagann. Why? Because hey,
maybe this entire franchise gets their powers from Spiral Energy. It makes sense when you think about it, with all this energy from the heart crap. Maybe they're on another planet in the same universe. I can't think of anywhere else where a giant crab coming out of nowhere would in any way be considered acceptable by anyone.
Either all, I don't think I should be questioning common logic in a Precure show. So I'll stop at this point.

If Apple made a phone like that, they would have a monopoly.




This is probably the first mahou shoujo where the main character's hair changes into a radically different color when transforming. I mean, I was expecting a lighter red or something, but whatever.

Okay, first episode and not a spec of unnecessary merchandising. It's definetly a bit darker than Heartcatch so far, so lets keep going.

Is there any news about the OVAs getting dubbed? Black Lagoon is probably one of the only series I'll watched Dubbed over Subbed

edit: nvm got recommended the OVA by Amazon when I just picked up season 1 & 2, its releasing in August :)

Teaching Elementary school in Japan is a dangerous occupation. I mean, when a third of your class is magical girls, another third boys brimming with shonen heart, and another third that weird amorphous blob that was Ms. Yukari's class in Azumanga Daioh, you go home every day, defeat the demon king trying to tentacle rape your wife and just crash.

This is a realistic depiction of life in Japan. I know because all of Brazil is simultaneously a jungle, soccer field, and nude beach occupied only by sexy, busty women. Television definitely accurately reflects real life.

The editor character was pretty terrible and had an ugly design. Very :chet though. Episode lacks that little bit of heart it showed when the dog and the scissors girl dealt with his death.

Show will be come tedious real fast if they can't recapture that.

Tankery delivers! That was intense! Dat bait-and-switch! Dat snipe! It was awesome to see all of teams play-making. And they didn't even give me a chance to still my beating heart with that Mako news. This show just keeps surprising me.

For some reason, I don't completely hate this show. It's stupid enough to know it's stupid, and the tsundere antics are taken almost as something that has to happen because of nerds, rather than something to be necessarily celebrated. The quite obvious and cheap ploy/cliffhanger at the end makes me want to watch the next one anyway.

I was glad to see that as the harem stuff and random characters preceding it was annoying. Exploration, light as it is, of how his death changed the people he knew is vastly preferable even if presented in a comedic fashion.
