a guy i know told me that MH is nintendo exclusive till march 2014, i called BS since they released and announced games already. he swore by it and was convinced that after MH4 there won't be any MH games on nintendo platforms anymore. lol.

Who is this "guy" and what does he do for a living?

Nintendo had this year's September Direct a few months earlier. I wouldn't expect another important one with new (first party) titles soon since they have revealed almost everything they have for this and next year. Next Directs will focus on the upcoming titles.

In what universe is:

LoZ: A Link Between Worlds
Yoshi's New Island
Mario Golf: World Tour

"almost everything" Nintendo has for 3DS next year in Japan?

I'd be betting on the Seaman revival, Kirby, FEA2/Advance Wars/Fossil Hunter 3/something, and Rhythm Heaven also popping up at least.
Even on the Wii U we only have confirmation of 4 or 5 games coming out and when all is said and done they'll have published about double that in this 'drought' year.

If this is true then that is very disappointing
for the WiiU
. What about Monolith's 3DS game?

Monolith Kyoto may just be a art-asset creation studio for Kyoto EAD and not involved in the development of their own project at this time.

If Masuda is specific enough to say that preorders crossed 1 mill on a specific day, it's Japan-only. No way are figures even remotely precise enough worldwide.

I'm expecting a Nintendo direct next month.

Also, didn't Nintendo announce colabs with various third party devs when they revealed SMTxFE?

So far they have

Atlus - SMTxFE
Capcom - Those MoHu skins

I wonder who is next. I'm hoping it's Squeenix.

Off the top of my head, there's also Pokemon XY music in Taiko Wii U and Mario & Luigi costumes in Rayman Legends.

Wouldn't they be releasing MHFG on Vita before the 3 years are up?

Would you consider FG a handheld game? Given that is just a port of a online game? I mean runs on a handheld but that's it.

okay, so it might be true but there's no reason for capcom to switch to anything else since MH4 is a success and there's no alternative platform thats viable atm.

True that, 3 years ago they didnt know how much of a difference it would be between 3ds and vita, now they know so there is no reason to try to split the base.Though they may try something like the Frontrier game on Vita to get some extra cash from the fans that have not moved to the 3ds I guess.

Pretty much that. Even if it was like that, I don't think Capcom will be willing to develop for a console with less than 2m units in the wild, vs. 3DS.

Still curious about that 3rd Wii U Sonic game. I mean, it can't be a platformer can it? Nor another sports game?

What would be left? Fighting? RPG? Open World adventure
lol
?

Who says it can't be the next main Sonic game next year? My bets are on that.

Sonic Adventure 3 PLEASE!!!

Well, that's nice of them, but it seems the download cards and the direct eShop numbers are estimates.

If there's a contract in place, it depends on the wording on the contract. It may be lax enough to allow for old ports, it may be extremely restricted.

Obviously, it's Sonic Shuffle 2.

...There were Twitter comments from some Sumo dude implying Mario Kart Vs. Sega All Stars in some form, presumably by his company.

"No MH on other handheld systems" seems to fit the bill. L Thammy's post has the right idea too I guess.

Either way I don't think there's anything significant here. I doubt we'll be seeing a proper MH game on the Vita anytime soon.

Well, I have bad news for you: all numbers from Media Create, Famitsu and Dengeki are estimates. =P

I'm sure Media Create (and probably Dengeki too) receives the download card POS (point-of-sale) information from retailers just like they do for normal software, they just decided not to combine them in their reports like Famitsu.

As for eShop, their number is not precise -- "approximately 100k", which could indicate it is a less certain estimation (or a purposely vague information).

OK, thanks for the info.

No more than their regular sales numbers are "estimates". Altogether they claim about 1.97 million sales for the title.

EDIT: Ok, it kind of does say that in the Japanese. Was reading download card numbers, not direct purchase numbers.

With donwload cards and eShop, Monster Hunter 4 outsold Portable 3rd launch on Media Create

[3DS] Monster Hunter 4- 1.970.000
[PSP] Monster Hunter Portable 3rd- 1.950.717

Disney Infinity dated for 28 November

WiiU (¥7,980)
3DS (¥6,980)

Toys and toy packs available separately

seeing skylanders is a bit of a non-event in japan I have a feeling this may surprise us, pretty much no one expected Disney magic castle to do as well as that did, if this gets decent marketing from Namco and Nintendo (and I have no reason to think it wont) this could be huge

Do we still look at Comgnet charts in here? Cause I am amused at Tales of Symphonia HD being above Lightning Returns in the ranking currently.

Err no, Tri on Wii came out before Portable 3rd on PSP, I think a year or so after.
But it did come out on a completely different system even after Portable 2G was such a massive success. Portable 2G LTD in Japan are 4 million AFAIK.

What if there is a MH to be released on PS3/PS4/Wii U or even VITA. I don't think that success of MH 4 will make it a exclusive to 3DS. To be clear, i am not talking about MHF but something like Tri for consoles.

So it's official then? That's pretty awesome! I remember how, before launch, so many people were adamant about Monster Hunter 4 not doing better than P3rd. I have to admit, I was a bit surprised myself, as I'm usually too optimist about sales. I believe the same thing happened with Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing : New Leaf, which were quite underestimated.

The thing is : where will the next Monster Hunter game land? Apparently, next year is the series 10th anniversay, so it's pretty much guaranteed there'll be a new game, one way or another (besides the obious mobile spin-offs). But will it be a HD version of MH4? A "G" version?

One thing's for sure : Capcom (and Nintendo) are pretty happy right about now, and no doubt the 3DS will be getting more Monster Hunter games in the future.

Stealth Edit :

But it did came out on a completely different system even after Portable 2G was such a massive success. Portable 2G LTD in Japan are 4 million AFAIK.

But things were quite different, as the Wii was prety popular at the time. Besides, Monster Hunter Tri was a brand new "flagship title", and it's unlikely the next MH game is going to be Monster Hunter5.

And right now :

1) Vita isn't that popular
2) Wii U is no better (but still has a slight chance if Nintendo really pushes for it)
3) PS3 is slowly dying
4) PS4 won't be launched before February, and no one knows if it'll be really popular... after all, Japan has become mobile/handheld land now.
5) Xbox... no commento.

I totally can see Capcom doing a HD version, for PS3, Wii U (maybe Vita too), but I certainly expect no console exclusive.

I'll also note that it's tracking way lower than 13-2 did at the same point in time before launch.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Since you're talking about Comgnet and Lighting Returns

[PS3] Final Fantasy XIII - 677pt
[PS3] Final Fantasy XIII-2 - 136pt
[PS3] Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII - 106pt

That's only because they've always done the mainline games on consoles and then ported it to the PSP after and that Portable 2ndG is when the MH boom became apparent and MH became insanely popular.

MH3 was going to be made for the PS3, but it was fumbling hard in the beginning, so they made it for the Wii which was successful at the time. They release it, and see that it sold a million eventually, so that's when it became obvious to Capcom that the series is a handheld series. So MH4 being on a handheld is the aftermath of that.

There isn't anything to indicate that they will make a mainline game ground up for a console. That is not going to happen. And as long as the 3DS is doing better than the Vita by a long shot, then the MH series would be getting new mainline games (and expansion games) on the 3DS. Maybe some Vita ports will happen in the future, but that's about it looking at it right now.

There probably will be HD ports, as to which console it will go to, I'm not sure. Wii U seems like a likely candidate due to being able to transfer saves, but it has terrible hardware sales (and software sales). PS3/PS4 are possibilities, but they have no cross connectivity with the 3DS.

I wasn't talking about exclusives but revisions and remasters.

MH 4 HD on VITA/PS3/PS4/WII U is entirely possible IMO. It won't make sense if this doesn't happen when it happened in the past.

We do, but that doesn't mean anything because LR still has 40 more days after Symphonia is released to accumulate pre-orders. (Actually, the two being so close right could be interpreted as LR is outpacing Tales.)

I'll also note that it's tracking way lower than 13-2 did at the same point in time before launch.

Now, that's a more relevant comparison. =P

Still, 2 months away, a lot can happen.

If with "almost everything" we mean Q4 2013 and the main key games for 2014 I agree with him, especially for the next Directs, both for Wii U and 3DS.
If with "almost everything" we mean that these are the only games they will release, I disagree

Wii U
Zelda WW
Party
Fit
Sport Club
Mario3D
DKTF
Kart
Bayo2
Smash
X
FE x SMT
Yoshi

3DS:
Zelda
MarioParty
Daigasso
Yoshi
Golf

There will be other releases (also for Wii U), and some could also be pretty significant (don't know: Kirby? Pokemon X? Others)

Reminds me of the Tales of Xillia and FFXIII-2 comparisons and everyone cheering on Xillia to outsell FF. Good times.

MH 4 HD on VITA/PS3/PS4/WII U is entirely possible IMO. It won't make sense if this doesn't happen when it happened in the past.

MHP3 was ported from PSP (a Sony platform) to PS3 (a Sony platform), while MHTri was ported from Wii (a Nintendo platform) to 3DS (a Nintendo platform) and then to Wii U (another Nintendo platform)

Talking about MH 4 I'd say that it could end to the Wii U as an up-port as the Tri Ultimate did, maybe later on with the G episode or (don't know why but I'm expecting this) sooner (with the release of the "platinum" version of 4th, maybe called something like Ultimate again), maybe being published also in the West together with the 3DS version.

about other episodes, we already know that MH was (last gen: PS360PCWiiPSPiOS) and will be (this gen: 3DSWiiUPS3VITAPCiOS) ported to all the viable platforms (the DS was probably ditched just because of its "old" hw)

but I don't think that they'll port the 4th episode to other platforms than Nintendo ones.
They could end up with a Vita version cross platform with PSVitaTVPS4Vita

it's capcom.

Which is its LTD? over 2 millions?
It's a 2008 title and still sells...
Ok, we all know that Wii U version will seel WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less, but I was wondering:

considering the 3DS success, its install base and its acrive users/buyers
considering the japanese love for portable consoles
considering the japanese love for portable local multiplayer games
considering that the 3DS one will be the first portable version of the game (so, some novelty to the franchise)
considering the success of the Smash brand due to the Wii episode

could this be a HUGE seller for real? something even bigger than the Wii one?

(I'm talking just for Japan)
