I want it. I want to touch and play with my games with it.
So, how does the haptic stuff in this thing work?
Nah there are plenty of us that are down with what we're seeing here.
I'll do you one better.
With a set of oscillating weights moved by electromagnets, you can make the user feel anything. That's pretty much the gist of it.

Why the fuck is everyone so negative in here?

Because valve completely blew their announcement + was prolly gunshy.Well, that's crazy.
How come nobody's talking about it?
Gotta love the people hating on this thing without even trying it. Did you want Valve to make yet another take on the Xbox 360 controller? That style is already pretty much perfect in a variety of options. I say we at least give Valve the benefit of the doubt here.

Because nobody is reading the OP lol. They just see the controller and knee jerk post.Well, that's crazy.

I can't see it working for all genres out there (like action or fighting games), I'll have to try it out but I get the idea that it limits some genres just like touch controls do (for movement at least). Haptic feedback sound exciting, though!
It's kinda sad that this is needed.
If people actually read the text accompanying each of these Valve announcements, the threads would all be 1/10th the size. Also people can't read.
There are also plenty of people that are totally open to "new things" and still think "what the fuck is that monstrosity" too. I'm one of them.
If I were to be buying this I'd be doing so alongside a console, there's no way in hell I'm "retraining my brain" to use fingers on non-face buttons for one platform connected to my TV and using thumbs/face buttons on another
That's before getting into the terrible idea of two of the face buttons not being available to my right thumb.
Also people can't read.
Care to elaborate?
You just have to retrain your muscle memory to hit the buttons on the back instead. Face buttons for non-critical usage (ie gestures or voice chat).
The train really didn't start rolling until 2008/2009/2010. That is when Valve's profits and concurrent users started literally exploding.
This gif has never been more relevant

So I'm wondering how well GTA V would work with this. It seems like console games that depend heavily on the Dpad could have issues.
Well, that's crazy.

Its designed to emulate m/KB and support legacy games so I doubt they are analog
1)
2) the two face buttons are just as accessible as face buttons on a regular controller. just about any fps or game with Right stick camera control requires you to move all the way from the right stick to the face buttons, always moving up and away from the stick. with this controller, those buttons are much nearer. likewise, for the Left stick, games that require D-pad use mean you have to take your finger off the left analog; again, this distance is reduced.
3) did you try thinking before posting?
I think I know what's worse.People can't or don't want to read - I honestly don't know what's worse...
It's not a traditional controller, and those are not primary buttons. In fact, I'd say that no primary physical buttons are really reachable by your thumbs on this controller! That didn't address my issue at all, before attacking someone for their thinking, do some yourself
True or not true, on a traditional controller ALL four face buttons are accessible and within reach of the right thumb whilst holding the controller, whereas on this controller, two of the face buttons are NOT accessible to the right thumb whilst holding the controller?
It's a simple question to answer.
That's an important question, particular given the novel haptic feedback tech and the fact that the final model will have a screen. Either they'll set the profit margin much lower than typical controllers or it will be expensive.wow i wonder how much this is going to cost. this is amazing
Since you can press it wouldn't you just click in the left trackpad top, bottom, left or right? Wouldn't even need to move your thumb off.
Ugh I wish people wouldn't write it off already when they haven't even seen or tried it in person.
That didn't address my issue at all, before attacking someone for their thinking, do some yourself
