Maybe it's just to me, but isn't it immoral to keep potentially big technical news from consumers after the whole RRoD debacle?

Insiders really should spill the beans now and save people spending 500 bones on what might be fundamentally broken tech.

That's just my opinion though...

insiders don't want to potentially lose their jobs and MS/game devs don't want certain things to leak because it could hurt sales for them.

Lets see where the problems lie:

120 million to build a controller when yours is already considered the best.

NFL Exclusivity deal for features that are frankly much cooler on a tablet.

DLC exclusives for games.

Spend a lot of R&D budget on Kinect 2 and make your hardware decisions based primarily on it's latency needs.

Why not spend all of that money on...I don't know, game studios & better hardware.

Simple, part of the Xbox team wanted exactly that, but other divisions within Microsoft saw all the love being given towards the Xbox and wanted their input on what Microsofts new living room hardware would be and offer them and all got their oars in, infighting ensued and the result is a console designed by committee.

The end result is gonna be a console no division at Microsoft is ultimately happy with, not that anyone (other than CBOAT) will ever actually come out and say this though ;)

Conjecture BTW, if that's not blindingly obvious :p

I absolutely agree. But we don't know what they are. I am of the camp that if there's something majorly wrong with this system, it's best for the consumer to be informed. Those in the know should say something. If I was getting an Xbox One, I would cancel my pre-order based on this potential claim, seeing as it's been implied by Bish and cboat that this could be a fucking firestorm on GAF. It has to be something major. I can't even think what could be yet another blunder for the system. Is the DRM still in the system, ready to be activated after X period of time or something? Are there technical issues so severe we will be seeing this the entire generation? Is there something we haven't even considered that's now an issue?

Everything in this goddamn thread is straight fireworks right now, the hype is so good, I will slap someone's father. I fucking love this community, really glad to be a member during these times.

Par for the course. Thanks. What is the bigger revelation; is that in reference to the PM sent to mods from Lord Buttocks? What's the speculation surrounding that along with CBOAT's cryptic "wait for launch"? What the eff is he alluding to?

It sounds like he's hinting that there is a much bigger issue that will be made public once the system launches, so it must be a hardware issue, or something OS related.

He's toeing a line between revealing this information & possibly getting found out - and waiting for the news to break on its' own once the embargo on game reviews is lifted.

Have you ever looked at the back of any 360/PS3 game case and noticed they all say 1080p as well???

PS3 games generally don't, unless they do output 1080p (though that includes resolutions like 1280x1080 in GT5's case), since the PS3 itself doesn't upscale from 720p.

MS would lose millions/billions on all of the manufactured consoles if there is a delay and spec change. I just don't see this happening with the current stockholder feelings about the division.

They'd lose millions on the delay and then even more trying to get any third party exclusives if Sony shot out to a huge sales lead.

I'm sure they already ran the numbers from a delay versus another RROD.

Valve? I really hope so! As i said, I don't know if they are after the same audience. Nintendo isn't really in the picture, unfortunately. Hope they come up with a Wii U successor soon.

Oh, I don't really want to derail this thread but I'm not thinking hardware, I'm thinking Gaikai, channels and content.

1. Conrad confirms BF4, Ghosts and KI are 720p on Xbox One.
2. Bish hints that if he revealed what he knows via PMs he's received, he'd be going back to the fallout shelter.
3. People start summoning CBOAT.
4. CBOAT materializes, basically says resolutions should be the least of concerns, significant tech issues currently.
5. Poster speculates MS execs/suits meddled with Xbox One's design.
6. CBOAT posts: Fact
7. Various tweets calling out Gies.
8. Gies pretty much confirms dev tools are not up to snuff right now.

Well shit. That explains a lot actually. Looks like this gen is off to a shitty start and it's not even begun. :-/
If all this is correct, and I have no reasons to doubt the people stating this, then MS fully deserves everything that's coming to them as far as I'm concerned. Damn.

Hmm, so this is the confirmed [either officially, by pixel counting or by leak] resolutions for XB1 launch games so far? Italicized exclusives.

Battlefield 4 - 720p
Call of Duty: Ghosts - 720p
Crimson Dragon - 1080p
FIFA 14 - 1080p
Forza Motorsport 5 - 1080p
Killer Instinct - 720p
LocoCycle - 1080p
NBA 2K14 - 1080p
Powerstar Golf - 720p
Ryse - 900p
Zoo Tycoon - 1080p

I'm curious what the resolutions are for other launch games where developers have been keeping quiet and/or haven't publicly shown the XB1 builds: Need for Speed: Rivals and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

I agree with your point fully in that this stuff shouldn't be held back from consumers, thing is though is that insiders on here who are affiliated with a particular company (i.e. CBOAT ) all have to be careful of what they say or else risk losing their jerbs especially with people like Albert Penello on here now -- which makes me think some of the higher ups or suits of these companies are on here lurking.

I agree. But then again, what the hell do I know.

The bigger problem though, why the hell are none of the gaming journalists ("journalists"?) reporting on this? Someone has to know something? What are they afraid of? This has to be of public interest, and the fact that big corporations wants to keep it secret can't possibly be a good reason not to write about it? FFS, that is in and of itself a reason to write about it!

People are spending money on this crap. They should be allowed to make an informed decision.

This is what is really ticking me off. It's almost as if the big sites have become just an extension of the big guys PR teams.

OK I haven't been following along, but is it true that cboat said regarding the resolution being the least of the X1 problems? Is that related to the Adam/Kevin tweets yesterday?

Also what is this I hear about MS spending $120 million in developing their controller. Is this real life?

I need some answers..

It quite clear Ms underestimated the shit out of Sony. They thought they were ahead of Sony when in reality Sony was breaking their asses to fix all their major faults for their next consoles hike keeping it pretty much on lockdown from everyone else.

yeah, I get that, but it hasn't stopped CBOAT do far. This seems pretty big news about the tech side of the X1, that alone raises so many red flags after RRoD, that it seems wrong not to spill the beans.

agreed. If it's potentially on the scale of RRoD, it seems wrong to not tell people now...

I still find it really weird that Sony could be ahead of Microsoft in terms of the whole dev tools aspect. Devs Tools are their bloody bread and butter. Its one of their core strengths. Admittedly they are juggling a whole bunch of different platforms at the same time (though they are all based around the Win8 core), and they've been going through the whole restructure. But still.
Since the Xbox was announced I've just felt that Microsoft weren't ready for what they were doing and everything since then feels like it's purely reactionary because of something that Sony are doing.

On the simplest level I just think the PS4 announcement in February has ruined their plans even though their plans weren't what they should have been anyway. Look how many things they've changed since it was announced and you don't just make up policies like that on the fly, it takes years to set everything in place.

One of the reasons I'm not interested in getting the new Xbox is because Microsoft really don't seem to have any idea what they're doing at the moment. I'd hope things are OK down the line but I think they're going to have a rough 2 or 3 years to start with and they'll gave to work really hard to sort things out.

Sony somehow managed to sort out the problems they created with the PS3 launch but it took time and I don't think they were ever in as bad a position as Microsoft are with their console.

I'd rather only have one console if I can and I was unsure which one I'd be going for but combining what both Microsoft and Sony have done so far there just isn't any challenge in making that choice now.

Hmmm.

Makes me wonder now. Confirming it's above 720p but not confirming it's 1080p seems to indicate that it's likely in between. Sucks if true.

At least microsoft made some
Amazing ads for xbox one . Now the question is what will the consumer know, the facts about the $500 console or ad buying

Or you know, you could just be a smart consumer and wait before buying it.
