Ubisoft: "On PC, you don't usually care about performance"; just buy a bigger GPU

Damn why is Ubi always on the ball... They were the first to realise that we're all pirates. Now they've worked out that when it comes to whoring, graphics cards are our favourite. Next they'll find out about our top secret plan to sabotage the next-gen by all buying WiiUs!

Curse them!

Different standards for graphics vs. input methods? I want to get the best graphics possible without using KB/mouse and currently that points to PS4.
But enough about MY preferences. I'm sure Ubisoft would much rather prefer it if people bought their games on consoles, and that's why they don't spend any money on PC ports.

According to Ubi, they would rather you spend money on the PC version due to no licensing costs to publish on a platform and them putting barely any resources into the PC port. It's a much higher revenue % if you buy on PC.

Keymappers are your best friend. Only time I have any real standards is when it comes to what I won't tolerate be it console or pc considering how far things have progressed.

Well I've played hundreds of hours of Skyrim on PC and never had it crash once. Come to think of it I can't recall the last time a PC game crashed on me.

Maybe you have just had bad luck with the setup or configurations of the PC.

You obviously haven't played BF4, but apparently that particular game isn't even stable on the console releases.

It's like there's a race between Ubisoft and EA.

Fortunately their games make it easy to spend your money on someone else's titles.

Nah man, mapping keys means he'll have to use a keyboard and maybe even a mouse so it's obviously impossible.

Sick of "PC is better! PC is better" narrative which completely downplays the inconveniences of PC.

Guess what I played Mass Effect on both consoles and PC (with superior graphics and framerate) and the console gameplay shits on PC gameplay simply because of the user interface. Same deal with Skyrim, I found the broken PS3 version of Skyrim much more enjoyable than the 1080p PC version, because I did not have to suffer through a keyboard/mouse to play it. "Press E to open door" prompt has no place in modern gaming.

Thanks for the laughs.

You would rather play a broken version of a game on the PS3 because you dislike *one* of the inputs on PC, keyboard and mouse, it's controller enabled as well.

I'll remain relaxed until one of their PC games run worse than consoles.

That's the one saving grace at least. We can't get glorious 1080p60 like all our other games, but at the end of the day, it still runs and looks better than any of the console versions by a country mile.

The stars could not be more perfectly aligned for me to pirate Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, irony and all.

It's against my sense of morality, sadly, but their silent contempt for PC gamers couldn't be more evident.

Is it inconceivable for you to believe that some would prefer to play with that control style?
I'm not telling anyone to use a certain input method, unlike what people have been telling me. To each their own. However sales figures are on my side as to what most prefer.
A 100% controller-only navigable SteamOS including powering on/off and accessing every system function, with a standard controller would please me more than any of you, honestly.

Sometimes I think they do shit like this to push people to pirate the game so they have an excuse to attempt to abandon the PC platform.

"It's always a question of compromise about the effect, how it looks, and the performance it takes from the system. On PC, usually you don't really care about the performance, because the idea is that if it's not [running] fast enough, you buy a bigger GPU. Once you get on console, you can't have this approach."

I wouldn't need it to be controller-only, but being able to change some basic stuff with a controller would be nice.

I was being facetious with the friends bit and I've known that for the last few posts. I thought the fps bitching as of late was a treat but his comments on KB/M have me laughing hard.

It's this kind of thinking that is getting the industry in trouble even today with sales.

As a result of moving to console devs have needed to find other ways to get more profit. They earn less on titles now and need to sell more to make their investment back. If it's wasn't for handhelds, wii, and casual titles a lot of these devs would have to find ways to appease the hardcore without killing themselves in the process.

I don't understand how people can be so anal about their choice of controllers and input device. Be it Xbox, DS3, Gamepad, KB+M it just isn't that big of a deal to me. If it feels odd at first I just learn to use it over time. Its called adapting.

For some genres or even certain titles some devices are just that much better. I'm not anal to the point I won't play another platform, cause xim fixes that, but sometimes just being average or substandard won't do.

This is why I only buy their games years late on GOG, with the added bonuses that they're cheaper and have no DRM.

Basically this.

If Ubi are too lazy to commit themselves to PC gaming, why should I fully invest myself (by paying the full retail price) into their products?

I'm a patient man anyway. Steam sale it is!

I can gladly say that my financial support for Ubi comes in the form of getting their PC games for cheap with Nvidia promotions on eBay. I refuse to give them any direct money.

I'm sure a lot of pc gamers are sick of your narrative as well.

Also like someone mentioned you could've used a controller if you wanted to so your complaints and your experience are nothing more than a product of your ignorance or laziness.

You sound like a bad console shill on this topic and others you've been railing against the pc, keep pushing your luck you will have a short visit here.
Mass Effect doesn't support controllers.

I personally used XPadder although I missed native support.

On the PS3 version of ME3, I dominated in online play. On the PC version.... not so much.

Personally I find PC games to be superior only for single player experiences. Multiplayer experiences are better on the console (simply because I only game using the controller).

I've already mentioned keymapping not going to again. Unlike consoles where you get no options being this lazy in 2013 about something that takes seconds to have up and running just shows you want to troll the argument, not neceessarily you. Giving console controller inputs parity with pc should never be bothered considering how a lot of pc the space requires you to customize or have support of some kind for your devices.

After reading this there is no chance Watch Dogs will run decently on PC when it arrives.

nah, far cry 3 ran flawlessly as did splinter cell

its only these last 2 AC games on their "anvilnext" engine acting like shit. watch dogs isnt using that engine so it should be alright

The game on my laptop runs and looks better than the PS4 version and it's definitely not the cream of the crop.

Are people that are complaining trying to run it with everything maxed out at 1440p, 1600p, or 4K?

Either way, Ubi and EA have made some ridiculous comments this week.

Come on man, don't minimize the time and effort needed to configure shit in a PC game. It's not super hard, but it's not "a few seconds" either. I'd rather not have it at all.

With all the time you took to troll this thread, you could have downloaded XPadder, and customized the controls at your whim.

Well, if you've got Nvidia's Geforce Experience software, it is pretty easy to optimize the settings for games. As long as the software detects the game, it's pretty much one click and a few seconds if you aren't downloading an update.

Xpadder makes is that easy unless you're going to come up with some bs about how hard it is when basically it's click controller button than config keyboard keys. You'd know that if you actually used something of it's quality once or twice.
