So it wasn't animated by actual animators? It shows.
For me, the way Ryu & Ken are portrayed in the Street Fighter II animated movie are my favourite versions of the characters. It was pretty cool that the Street Fighter Alpha designs of Ryu & Ken we're heavily based off of how they we're portrayed in the flashback sequence.

SSF2HDR is one of the worst "redone/HD" games I can think of, the art is just hideous! and the animation is brutal... Probably not the best idea to let a comic book studio direct the art of a video game. Can't believe I payed 15-20?? bucks for that.. nostalgia be damned!! (online net code wasn't even good, was it?)

On a positive note, it's amazing how iconic Ryu is, and has become. And I cannot believe for over 22 years I've been playing (and have played) every iteration of this franchise and continue to love the game.

I think HD Remix is the worst portrait BY FAR. It doesn't even look like Ryu, what did they do to his nose? Next runner up for worst is probably MVC3.

Sirlin's SF4 Concept was in general pretty stupid, but I did like the story angle he came up with...following Ryu through every iteration of SF and ending with a final battle between Old Ryu and Akuma.

IDK why, but ever since I first played SF on my MegaDrive II I've played with Ryu. Ken's a decent character and his flaming shroyuken's badass, but I just can't enjoy him like I can Ryu...

I don't know about sexist, but his proportions are reasonable in MvC3. Yeah, SF4's muscularity is roughly in line with the spirtes, but it's still kind of grotesque to see all that muscle rendered.
Also, Ryu's SF4 hair is just awful.

I just personally hate how the SF4 modelling team gets shit on for translating 2D sprites into 3D, when they actually did a pretty good job. All the characters look and animate uniquely, and the "silly, cartoony" slant to it makes it even better. The characters have personality.
Ryu is one thing, but it really enrages me when people talk shit about Chun-Li's translation into 3D.
