an oldie but goldie..
So apparently Mario Kart: Double Dash's world is connected like Mario Sunshine's, in that you can see landmarks from other tracks in the game.

I knew about a few of them, but I had no idea there were so many.
I got bored...
It was confirmed that Rhydon was the first.

Thanks for ruining Chie's design. lolPosted it in the Persona thread, but might as well have an all-around opinion.
Did atlus rip-off Drake and Josh when designing Chie?
The statue looks nothing like an Arcanine. It is clearly a Rhydon.I have my doubts about that Rhyhorn one. I always figured it was an Arcanine, since those statues are supposed to look like them thar dog statues in Japan, and Arcanine is sort of based on the same motif.
Great video. GameXplain rules. So apparently Mario Kart: Double Dash's world is connected like Mario Sunshine's, in that you can see landmarks from other tracks in the game.

Weird wording on that graphic. Rhyhorn is "the default sprite?" Default for what? It's a commonly-used sprite for many Pokemon when you see them walking around on the map, but I don't see how it's default.
It is true that it was the first Pokemon designed, and I totally believe that the walking sprite for it was the first one they made. But is it like, if you create a new NPC with no sprite information given, they end up as Rhyhorn?

That GTA one is a bit lame.
Navi is voiced by anime actor Kaori Mizuhashi. It's common that Japanese voice actors do both games and anime, but Mizuhashi is still kicking with her voice roles. Some notable recent roles:
Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Tomoe Mami http://youtu.be/8RNmQqqPB-U
Monogatari Series Second Season - Oshino Ougi
Grisaia no Kajitsu - Matsushima Michiru http://youtu.be/XH2qvC2HMt0
I believe Rhyhorn is also the first Pokemon they programmed into the game, and Kangaskhan being the second (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pokémon_by_index_number_(Generation_I) ) which is related to how sometimes a glitch Pokemon will be replaced by Rhyhorn (the first programmed Pokemon) and how sometimes they'll evolve into Kengaskhan (apparently they can become Clefairy too, which is index 4).
That's not my doubt, though. That's fine. My doubt is that the statue is meant to by Rhydon.
Super Mario Sunshine's levels aren't interconnected, they're just designed to give that illusion
People have dumped the map files and those aren't the actual levels you see in the distance

Yeah, MissingNo would always evolve into Kangaskhan, which led to the rumor it was a scrapped Kanga pre-evolution.
Never noticed any of those beyond the fact you can spot Daisy Cruiser off the one level.

Great Mario Kart video! I really enjoyed it.
I love when things connect like that!
Such detail from the design team despite knowing it will probably not even be noticed by the majority of people.
Reminds me of how in Donkey Kong Country Returns the levels had a flow to them, like the first level would have elements of the previous world, and as you went on the next world would start to show.
So it took me about a decade to finally confirm, but one of the most mysterious hidden Mickeys I've been told about is real. On the motherboard of every copy of Mickey Mousecapade for NES (Mickey Mouse in Japan), there is a Mickey Mouse head soldered right above the pins.
It's a bit hard to spot, but it's there, sorry for the less than stellar image quality.
Not a huge find, but this track in Max Payne 3 is very Metroid Primeish

This is amazing. A true new mindblowing fact, if you ask me.So it took me about a decade to finally confirm, but one of the most mysterious hidden Mickeys I've been told about is real. Not really shocking but cool I thought.
Hidden in the code of Pokemon Yellow there was an unused game trade that could have you obtain a Mew. Once traded the Mew would be nicknamed Bart. Likely a reference to Bartholomew. His sprite in Pokemon Yellow also looked very similar to Bart from The Simpsons.
Something a lot of people miss in Super Mario World: due to the X and the Y buttons doing the same thing, its possible to shoot fireballs while holding objects and running.
