Sword Art Online Episode 21:

I will laugh at each and every defense made towards this show for the rest of time.

Ah so they finaly got to this. Yeah, this isn't defensable. What effectively happened is that they cut out a perefectly serviceable story in favour of playing the Asuna Torture up.

It was about this time I was ready for the show to be over so we could get to GGO.

It's been in my mind for ages but I always wanted to do an article called "Building a Better Cartoon Show" With my sights on SAO Part 2 and basically go on an extended rant about how this was the exclamation point to Fairy Dance's nonsense.

Steins;Gate:The Movie-
ikwBkMeZg3OBj.jpg
So I finally got around to this and boy was this a hard watch emotionally. I really liked that Kurisu was the protagonist in the movie as it really helped to flesh out her character and feelings compared to the TV series. The movie gave a lot of insight into her character and while I'm sure a few people don't think the movie was necessary, I think seeing her mindset is justification enough. I also found the stemming cause of the movie, mainly that
Okabe was having problems stabilizing in the Steins;Gate
timeline to be a natural extension of the stuff in the TV series so it never felt artificially created danger.
The real crux of this movie is the relationship between Okabe and Kurisu. Most of the other side characters do appear but it's for very brief periods of time. What made this such a hard movie to watch is the despair Kurisu goes through. Okabe is seemingly at peace with what is happening to him but the fact that Kurisu can't let go, makes this rough. I liked that Suzuha called Kurisu out on her contradictory personality and overall bullshit. I do wish Kurisu was a bit more determined at times, especially in the last bit of the movie but I guess that is true to her character. Another thing that I liked was Kurisu taking the initiative instead of Okabe fixing things as it shows the effort that Kurisu is willing to go to in order to save Okabe. There's a couple of good scenes in there such as her pretending to be Hououin Kyouma or her big running sequence to say that she loves him. It feels less like a one-way relationship compared to the TV series.
The art and animation are better, especially the background art and lighting. There are quite a few scenes that are shot really well and take advantage of the lighting to create a good atmosphere. I also thought Okabe's character art was a step up from the TV series. I did think Kurisu is a bit too pale as usual though.
I really enjoyed the hell out of this movie. The time travel stuff seems a little wonky but it always seemed a little wonky so I'm not really holding that against the franchise. There's a lot more emotion in the movie than I expected and I think it works as a fantastic counterpart to the TV series.

Updating MAL isn't too bad if you have a program for it. Then it's just either auto-updating or just pressing a button.

I sorta wish the TV series had a similar tone. There's a sort of melancholic tone over the episode that I enjoyed.

Hajime no Ippo Rising - 15

Another good off-play episode, yes.. and the pacing is much better in these last two eps, like someone got told really badly for the poorly paced first half.. let hope its continue.

Didn't expect this to be a better show than Dandy, or a good show at all, but here we are.

Good luck, Mr. Tatsuwa.

I'd say shots fired but not really. There's actually lots of shows better than Space Dandy this season.

Magi S2 - Episode 15

Damn if only the first season could have been adapted like this from the start. Or maybe it's just that the material in this arc is so strong? I dunno but I'm really enjoying it. After ep13 the production values definitely took a back seat, but it doesn't affect it much since the key scenes are still pretty well done. The scene at the end of ep15 was great too. They're probably saving up their action animators for the actual war arc which should start in two weeks. Can't wait!

It was supposed to return balance to the Force, man.

Just bums me out because it's like a big confluence of people I like working on something that conceptually appeals to me, along with the whole airing on toonami deal. I'd like to see it succeed.

Space Dandy seems like a perfectly entertaining show. It's not Bebop 2.0 (or even Champloo 2.0) and it's sure as fuck not going to save anime but it makes a half-hour go faster and it looks goddamn gorgeous.

But yeah... maybe I'll check out Nisekoi, even though I understand the manga is mired in an endless loop or something.

Eh, the manga starts pretty strong, and with an 11 episode adaption no point in letting the manga's later shortcomings put you off the anime!

please explain what's even happening

is star blazers 2199 going to miraculously be complete shit
For some reason, they're doing what amounts to niocnico idol cosplay videos here in the US for Starblazers.

The release here is going to be barebones versions of the JP discs anyway, so there's nothing for them to screw up.

Star Blazers is about Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre in space.
Yamato 420, amirite brah.

They have some minor retailer goodies too. I'l probably going to order from the Starblazers website just for the arts that come with the first volume.

Well it does have a fast tempo but lots of time others will actually go and pick up reading the thread where they started so you never know when you'll get an answer.
I don't think this will be the case this time, unfortunately. Although, I did get to trim the fat, so that's nice. I'll remove Frontier now.

You also get the strap if you preorder from Kinokuniya!

I'd order from them, but UPS shipping is death to anyone outside of America. I'd save money waiting for all the volumes to be released on Rightstuf and buying them all at once.

Wonder if I can pre-order from my local store...
There's one right by work.

And that cast of girls is so cute.

Eh, maybe not at this point lol.

How about a roundabout way of trimming the fat? Instead of asking everyone to remove everything they don't like, have them pick say your next ten and just start with those? And whether you decide to keep the rest on the list or not, well that can be up to you! I think instead of picking out the turds on the list people'd be more responsive to picking out the winners instead.

Also watched some new stuff tonight!

First off, I really liked D-Frag. Everyone's totally insane and everything just works. Nice fun show.

World Conquest Zvezda Plot
is the other show I watched and I think I'll follow it too.
