Is there anyone seriously theorize shuch thing?

That theory could have made sense until the last week of December (specially the first week of January) where it was evident that Wii U was going to collapse hard.

Correct. 'Beast mode' is an entirely relative and nebulous term, not some sort of concrete numeric measurement.

Our Champion is indeed in 'beast mode'. Long may she reign.

So you agree with those who said the 3DS was in beast mode even though it was missing it's forecasts yet was the highest selling a platform in all regions in 2013?

So WiiU couldn't even hold through January, bah...
I'm starting to guess that price cut won't do a shit for that system.

Edit:
Gosh, everyone in Japan has bought a 3DS it seems...

Yeah that's obviously one reason it's dropping.
For kids in Japan LL model isn't necessary the definitive version.
Quite a few can live with OG 3DS, because it's lighter.

(As for DSiLL so many people switched, but I don't see why that's not happening so much this time)

If "Beast mode" is nebulous and relative, then the Vita certainly is not in beast mode because I'm comparing it in relation to the PS2. I can do this because it means nothing.

*Smug*

No that's passed. Price cuts won't do anything now but temporary boosts. The console is just not wanted.

Does Japan even want video games?

I'll put 10 dollars on Knack being the best selling PS4 launch title and having a >95% attach rate on first week. Anyone willing to take my bet?

Somethings been bothering me lately about the Vita game prices, why are they so damn high in Japan? Nearly every game is reasonably priced on the JP eshop(below 5k for all 1st party) but on PSN I'm looking at 6-7k yen per game.

I'm not surprised that Sega game bombed, 7k for a rhythm game is too much.

Its made even worse when to buy PSN cards its a £10 premium on the cost. Whereas buying from the eshop directly I get heavy discounts on 3DS software(Yen is weak vs the £).
At a guess, price gouging on a small but dedicated fan base.

I guess that make sense when looking at the number. But since Gamecube numbers also beside it, doesn't it pretty clear that Wii U gonna bomb after as much as GC did? GC had a raise in last week, Wii U a decline.

I don't know, since 2DS seems not suitable for Japanese. It's not really portable judging from its size and shape.
Considering the PSVita is surrounded by corpses (3DS excluded) it's not hard to look alive.

Well, 3DS is beaten quite hard, swelling here and there from exhaustion :p

YAHOO!!! Digital numbers

*sees hiska-kun's post*

;_;

I said tomorrow I'll buy the magazine xD But I don't know when I'll be able to post the numbers, I had an exam on Friday and I need to study, also I work until late night...

As soon as I can I'll do it.

Yeah 2015 might be the time to launch that next system Nintendo. I don't think 2 years of huge declines and heading to a potential baseline under 30k would be good for them at all, not to mention western sales are probably going to nosedive as well.

Vita is doing ok. It's still dropping though albeit at a slow pace, so it really only looks good in relation to the declining 3DS number.

But in good Nintendo news Kirby is doing great!

3DS year-over-year drop looks really bad because of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, that was a true system seller.

Code:
Famitsu Sales: Week 2, 2013 (Jan 07 - Jan 13)

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} (¥4.800) - 86.926 / 2.509.874 (-36%)

Famitsu Sales: Week 3, 2013 (Jan 14 - Jan 20)

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} (¥4.800) - 97.808 / 2.607.682 (+13%)

Famitsu Sales: Week 4, 2013 (Jan 21 - Jan 27)

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} (¥4.800) - 83.226 / 2.690.908 (-15%)

Famitsu Sales: Week 5, 2013 (Jan 28 - Feb 03)

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} (¥4.800) - 76.039 / 2.766.947 (-9%)

With Animal Crossing was a true seller, it makes me wonder if Nintendo should push streetpass feature even more than chasing another gimmick. The feature that make me prefer my 3DS over Vita is streetpass feature which is very neat.

I'm very curious to see what Nintendo has for the 3ds in 2014. They can't let their major source of income keep sliding.

Well... there's Smash Bros. And probably the introduction of 2DS in Japan. This would also be a good year for a Player's Choice line at $19 to beef up software sales.

Mario Golf, Yoshi, Smash, plus we're still waiting on what Monolith Soft's 3DS title will be. 2014 should be a good year for 3DS. I don't think a sequel to 3D Land is out of the question.

SmokyDave is a cartoon-esque parody of himself as seen by others. He is the Vita Man.
Arguing with him is sort of like arguing with Bugs Bunny and will have the same result.

That said, that 3DS number is looking low. It's like it's got the Vita in its eyes and it's moving in for a kiss.

I thought we already debunked that.

People don't argue with me, they enter into a deferred agreement.

The rest of the world also bought X360.

Exactly. The rest of the world picked it and we got a great war. That doesn't explain why Japan didn't though...

I tried to find a decent analog, but the 16-bit era proved the opposite (total sales grew more in Japan without much Sega competition). I just don't think the move to mobile (DS/PSP) would have been so big had the PS3 been affordable and" developable".

I believe the Monolith Soft team that was hiring 3DS staff is a support team. They're the ones who worked on Skyward Sword and Mario Kart. That's why people don't think they have a 3DS game.

Yep, it was not a large team at all either, so they don't seem to be working on anything original.
