Jessica walters was great on arrested development

It also showed me a funny side to charlize theron, since I only knew her from serious roles

I'll watch anything with Mary Elizabeth Winstead in it, and liked her a lot in 10 cloverfield lane

Not a great actress per se, but I thought bing bing li was badass as the witch with white hair in Forbidden Kingdom:

Tatiana Maslany - She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Harsh, she's absolutely great in orphan black playing 17 different characters

And sure enough, there are replies below you demanding the same thing. Sheesh. Sometimes it is as if we are trying to prove all the misconceptions that the left wing has about us.

Misconceptions?? xD

Best female performance 😏 (with a gif of an actress about to show her tits)

why aren't there any tits in the OP?

no nude actress=no performance award

You know as a man, I love to see a nice pair of boobs. (
This whole message is at least funny, even though it doesn't mention any actress)

Gifs like this...

Let alone the references to other matters that have nothing to do with the topic at hand and that we already know the direction they're heading to.

I'm going to count the votes now.

It surprises me that the names of Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Faye Dunaway, Amy Adams, Deborah Kerr, Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, Emma Stone or Rachel Weisz haven't appeared yet.

Remember, I will only count names with surnames, I won't count photos or character names.

Ellen Burstyn - Requiem for a Dream

Her performance in Requiem is the best female performance of all time and it's insane she is not included in that list.

She is a phenomenal actress.

Half the actresses on that list couldn't even attempt that scene, never mind attempting the rest of her wild transformations through the rest of the film.

Jodie Foster in Maverick and Silience of the Lambs
Sharon Stone in Total Recall and Basic Instinct
Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies and Trading Places
Betsy Russell in Private School, Tomboy and Saw (the hottest noname actress until she did Saw movies)

My imdb review list is so male lead dominant it's not funny.

I, too, was waiting for Meryl, Julia, and Emma Stone to show up.

I had Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny typed but wanted to think about it more and never did after looking at my imdb list ;) and of course Jodie.

I only voted for one actress (Jodie Foster) but since some big names are missing, i'll do 4 more since i'm allowed for 5.

Meryl Strip + Goldie Hawn - Death Becomes Her

Death_Become_Her_061.jpg

Suzan Sarandon + Geena Davis - Thelma & Louise

1498845712-thelma-and-louise-polaroid.jpg

These are probably not the best roles of these actresses (certainly not Meryl's) but they are my favorite movies of theirs and each one hits two birds with one stone.

I would add The Exorcist and Same Time Next Year to that list too. She's one of the best.

...Kathy Bates.

Yeah, since the thread title is "best" and not "favorite," I'd also have to nominate Kathy Bates in that role. Just a whole new beginning of acting. Completely breathed life into storytelling once again.

But holy shit, probably one of the, if not the, scariest stories ever put on film. Yeesh...

It would take me a while to think of a full list.
But I would prabably have Katherine Hepburn overall at the top of the list regardless:

Recently: Emma Stone with ‘Poor Things’ (and not just for the plentiful horny scenes), she really did deserve the Oscar for that one...She really surprised me the hell out of me with that movie.

After ‘The Help’ and ‘La La Land‘ (how did that get best actress?) I really didn’t expect anything from her but she surprised me with ‘The Favourite‘ and then ‘Poor Things’. She has a damned good range of acting, and it seems she’s only getting started…

It hasn't been clear to me whether you're going to end up voting for someone.

Bette Davis.

You had already voted for 3 actresses before, so I won't count the last one from the last message.

There are a few more posts that I haven't counted because the actresses' names weren't mentioned. It is what it is.

just 5 is tricky, but I ended up with

Rachel Ward (Awesome actress in her day, sheer class and smoking hot, I adore her since watching "The Thornbirds" and "Dead Men Dont Wear Plaid")
Jody Foster (have you seen "Contact" ?)
Audrey Hepburn (legendary)
Natalie Portman (consistent gravitas, always engaging)
Sigourney Weaver (needs no introduction, but go on then - the legendary alien movies)

Honourable mentions (not for poll)
Angelina Jolie
Julia Roberts

I'm gonna throw in Jessica Tandy in Nobody's Fool because it's such an overlooked gem, and she was in her prime. I believe it was her last film.

And she was a darling in it.

Naw man, THIS is Jessica Tandy in her PRIME!

She had a good long run though!
