Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of July 1, 2019 to July 7, 2019.

Super Mario Maker 2 retained its position as the top selling software of the week following its launch the previous week, moving an additional 83,204 retail units.

In terms of new releases, the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers expansion topped the chart at 22,260 initial retail units. It is followed by Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle for Switch at 19,127 units and for PlayStation 4 at 14,817 units.

On the hardware side, thanks to a Switch “3,000 Yen Coupon Present Campaign” that started on June 27, which includes a 3,000 yen coupon that can be used for digital titles, the platform saw a major sales boost with 75,481 units sold. Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Hardware sales for Switch are very strong.

But, software sales all round a bit depressing. New games getting very low numbers.

Hopefully the arrival of the Switch Lite will change this. I don't believe in Sony anymore. Not when it comes to Japan.

Interesting that we got a hardware increase after Super Mario Maker 2's launch.

Software is pretty meh and has been for awhile, I hope it picks but not holding my breath.

September should be insane though.
