This is another one of those years where there's no obvious winner. If I remember correctly DA Inquisition got the most GOTY awards from publications and Shadow of Mordor also got quite a few. I did not play half of those games, so I sadly voted Destiny!

Yeah this game gets shit on as it’s not friendly to noobs, but I know people that still play D2 like it’s their job and it’s impact on the industry was, and still is, profound.

The idea of weekly raids and finding Xur were highlights for console gamers. Destiny changed the game for online co-op and say what you want about it’s pvp, it was buttery smooth in an age where dedicated servers became less the norm. Bungie could have fell flat with a new franchise and instead they created one of the biggest games ever.

Overall my favorite was Second Son, the game still holds up pretty well to this day. My other choices would be The Evil Within and Tropical Freeze.

You know what, not nearly as bad of a year as I thought it was. Had to leave Mario Kart 8, Dark Souls 2, Wolfenstein, Second Son and Divinity out of my top 3 and those are all great games.

Anyway it's Bayonetta 2, Dankey Kang and Sunset Overdrive in that order. Still can't believe the fucking Pope picked Dragon Age like holy shit.

Not a super strong year, but thats to be expected early in a gen. Dark Souls 2 was the best to me

My fav from that list would probably be Wolfenstein, brought the series back in a huge way and is still an enjoyable campaign experience to this day.

Next up I'd go with Bayonetta 2 which sadly got ignored at the time due to it being on the Wii U. I found it to be one of the best action/beat em up/brawler/whatever etc... Experiences I have ever played.

3rd place would go to shovel knight. Really enjoyed that game but haven't played through it since. Maybe I'll buy one of the new editions and give it another run through. It was a really solid homage to the 8/16 bit era games and probably the first indie game I played that made me realize there was some serious talent within the indie scene.

It was a good year, but lacking in truly great games.

For me, I'd say it's Alien Isolation, with Infamous and Divinity getting knocked out on penalties.

Alien Isolation was absolutely killer though. The best Alien media since the old Dark Horse comics and vastly better than the utter drek that was Prometheus and Covenant.
