I played Glory of the Roman Empire a few years back, and didn't like it all that much, was Imperium Romanum substantially different or basically the same game with some upgrades? And/or is there any indication this might be? :p

Although the screenshots already show they improved one thing over GotRE, cities actually look like Roman cities now.

Kabouter, these guys are doing Tropico 3 so you might as well try out the demo of this to see how scared you are for that release. :D :lol

No idea, I never played Glory.. but I always thought it was city building only?
From what I remember (it's been a while), it was yeah. But that doesn't have to mean much, I mean, I've played plenty of city building games with combat where it was such a minimal part of the game that it really didn't matter at all.

I'm just happy they're making Tropico 3! (First I'm hearing of this too :D)
Fools better put in Lou Bega though.

Yeah most of the reviewers-many of which are just the run of the mill "fuck it if it ain't simcity, I can't wait for someone to find a cure for my asperger's " _ type bagged it because it plays like an Impressions CB.

WARNING! IT GOOD!

Yeah, the combat here seems very simple. Might be exactly like Imperium Romanum? The whole thing (city building) is like just a bit removed from Imperium Romanum, the main difference of what I can tell is that it's a lot more user friendly / a lot less confusing. It gives way more and clearer information on everything going on.

Okay, so this is pretty fun. Except I do seem to suck quite a lot, I actually lost the first campaign mission because of a fire in my only outpost :lol

I'm having trouble getting into this. Maybe I just need to fiddle around a bit more, but right now the UI seems anemic to the point of being crippled.

I like this a lot. Certainly the removal of transportation from production chains is a jump for those used to the impressions CB's way of doing things (warehouses, etc.), but the RPG elements in the campaign, research, and the MUCH more usable and intuitive military system are quite nice.

Seems like a nice beer and pretzels sort of citybuilder made for fans of the old Caesar games. Thumbs up.

yeah, maybe the same as imperium civitas 3. if that isn't just imperium romanum. no idea. same series anyway.

Yeah, I searched the interwebs and its Imperium Civitas III, here, in spain, was released in christmas and costs 19,95 euros (as all the FX games)

Holy shit this thread tells me about a demo for a game I didn't know I wanted, AND it tells me Tropico 3 is coming?

...and I was ALREADY having a good day today!

I guess with this thread being a couple weeks old, I can't expect someone to have posted since my last post, but forgive the double double.

Just wanted to say this demo was pretty good fun. I really like the way the economic stuff works in the game, and the forum accomplishments gave/bonus objectives gave me a lot to do while playing, even if I don't think the forum accomplishments do anything really? It kind of ran crappy on my system for whatever reason, but I'll probably pick the full version up from whatever digital distributor ends up having it for a good price.
