At this moment, Counter-Strike co-creator Minh ‘Gooseman’ Le is being bundled into an unmarked van bound for Bellevue, Washington, where he’ll have his memory wiped by Tommy Lee Jones.

“I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something [at Valve] that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe,” says Le. “And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.”



Le left Valve after the original Counter-Strike 2 was scrapped. In the time since he’s worked on similar prospect Intervention, and is now a contractor on Rust. But he’s seen things.

“There’s like a laser sight on my head right now!”, Le told goRGNtv when poked about Valve’s conspicuously absent second Half-Life sequel.

“I don't think I can talk about that, to be honest, but I think it’s kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news to be honest.

“Somebody's knocking on my door right now!”, joked Le. “Hopefully that doesn’t get out. It seems like old news by now, I think everybody knows it’s being worked on.”

Shortly after dramatically underestimating a parched games media’s thirst for Half-Life news, Le told the presenter that he was “really excited” for “the new Left 4 Dead”.

“I saw it, it looks great,” he said. “Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn’t many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game.”

I wouldn't even care that much, found HL2 (the version from TOB, not sure if there are differences?) enjoyable and that's about it. Wouldn't say no to HL3 of course, but there are dozens of other sequels I'd like more.


It sounds weird, but I enjoyed Episode 2 more than HL2 itself... not sure what that means.
