Cabt help but notice how these "screenprint with porn tab" scandals never have anything too wild or out of the mainstream. This guy, Kurt Rambis, et al...it's usually some garden variety "big booty" thing. I've never seen a Conservative Christian figure accidentally tweet out a screenprint with "gay for pay" or "incest S&M" on some inactive tabs.

While his excuse is obviously bullshit, after working there I can confirm Geek Squad's incompetence, especially with data backups. When you pay GS for a data backup, they just back up your users folder and oftentimes neglect to go over what exactly NEEDS to be backed up. Around 75% of the time I got stuck doing demos for data backups the client would leave unhappy, confused, or in the worst case angry because half of the guys see data backups as easy sales and don't care if we end up getting what the client needs (they're taught dozens of excuses to deflect responsibility anyways). Repair agents will also give any excuse possible to just wipe the OS instead of actually fixing things since OS installs are quick, easy, improve their turn time, and usually mean a "free sale" (data backups aren't covered under tech support plans). Also, 4800 "viruses" really isn't that much, Malwarebytes alone can pick up thousands of entries just because of cookies, files belonging to PUPs and adware, and lots of other relatively harmless shit; to my knowledge there's no tool that tells you which (if any) entries "require an OS reinstall." You'd have to manually skim through it and already know what rootkit or whatever is going to be a problem - I've literally never seen anyone actually bother to do that.
