I've been in Bangkok about a week on business. I've had today and will have tomorrow to myself.
This is my first time in southeast Asia and I have been thoroughly impressed by Bangkok - awesome city.
I saw the Grand Palace today and went to the MBK mall. The Grand Palace was spectacular. But on the downside were the hordes of people, the heat (I wore long pants and shoes rather than short and sandles) and the scammers outside the Palace. I picked up a bunch of tchotchkes at the MBK mall for the folks back home - that was fun.
Any recommendations for my last day - tomorrow? I'm thinking of checking out the botanical gardens. I'd like to get some more culture. I'm not interested in the party scene here. I'd be interested in finding high quality Thai handicrafts - beyond the carts on the streets.
