Palworld is a good real world example of the challenges Gamepass faces on PC/etc.

Most people obviously don't know or don't care that Palworld is actually a Day 1 Gamepass title, judging from how the Steam version ($27 until 1/25) has now sold over 4 million copies in 3 days and hit a peak of over 1.2 million concurrent players.
Game sells well and is on GP: well it shows nobody cares about GP.

Game does not sell well and is on GP: well it shows all its sales are cannibalized by GP.

Surely some people can see this is stupid logic?

Fact is nobody knows how many people play Palworld on GP, so selling well on Steam isn’t an indicator that « most people don’t care about GP ».

Because the game is doing well on Steam, you assume that means people don't know or care that it's on Game Pass?

What kind of a bullshit correlation is that lol.
Ok put it this way- on pc you can either pay the 1 month fee to try it on gamepass OR you can buy it outright on steam at its full price (more than a 1 month gamepass sub). So please tell me WHY anyone would pay full price for a game they can get cheaper on a sub service? Is it cause no one actually gives a fuck about rentals on PC? Is it cause Microsoft doesn’t have the same stranglehold on gamers on PC like they do on Xbox? Either way, many of us who aren’t fans of gaming going down the rabbit hole of rentals love seeing that a game like this sells on PC where, again, people do have the option to rent it or buy it outright.
