That is really low. But the problem is that there are no PS5s to buy not that people don't want to buy it.
The PS4 was at least available after march 2014 here and there but the PS5 still isn't after over a year now. PS5 will fall way behind PS4 sales just due to the general production problems (so there is no more capacity to produce more). Will be interesting how long the console manufacturers want to deliver crossgen games because of the situation.

Is it that much lower than what the PS4 did?

The ideia of low is weird... it is selling ahead PS4.

How can it be low if it is ahead PS4?

The first few montths, until March 2021, PS5 performed better than PS4 (490k vs 434k). Meaning pretty likely that PS5 had the best launch ever for any console in gaming history.

Next (and most recent) PS5 numbers we have are until october 2021 (1046K) but we can' compare with PS4 numbers because the next PS4 numbers would be comparable to march 2022 (1950k) instead of october 2021. Pretty likely PS5 now is launch aligned behind PS4 there because at least in otther EU countries there wasn't a huge stock for the holydays period.

It isn't in this region. Also the demand is even higher than the ps4 demand was back than.
Problem is just (like in the whole world) that there are not enough PS5 consoles for sale.

The big difference is in march 2014 you could buy a PS4 at the local retailer (Sony delivered many consoles at that time to the region). This is still not possible for the PS5 in the same time frame. Yes they initially delivered more PS5 consoles at launch than PS4 consoles at its launch, but that buffer has eaten up by the delivery problem. At around march 2014 Sony hat already increased the production line as the PS4 was a full success. I guess they want to do that with PS5 but it is just not possible to get the production lines and resources. The "felt demand" here for the PS5 is much higher than in the PS4 launch period. Problem is, many PS4 players want the new console but can't get it.
