Source Code for Area 51 (2005) by Midway Studios Austin Found at Garage Sale and It's now being used to get a buildable state on modern systems by modders

  • Snapshot Date: The source code is a snapshot from 2005-03-31 10:40:19, just before the game's official release.
  • Discovery: It was found at a garage sale of a former THQ developer.
  • Contents: This release includes the source code for the Entropy engine, game logic, and targets for PC, PS2, Xbox, and an early version for GameCube. Additionally, debug symbols for various platforms are available in the release. Assets are not included, but those can be recovered from the retail game files.

Oh shit this is actually fucking cool and wild. I remember wanting the game back in the day but I had too many shooters to play at the time

I played some of this game, i had forgotten all about it until i saw this thread, it was a good game at the time.

Gosh the ps2 era AA scene was just so good.

Gaming drastically needs a return to this.
Then disable all networking capabilities on consoles except for a few UDP ports needed for online gaming like back in the PS2/ Xbox era.

No MTX, no GaaS shit. Just pure gaming with a barebones but functional online. Yes we need to go back ASAP!

Very neat, but I was hoping it was the old 1995 arcade game's source. It would be historically interesting to read through the setup of something from the golden era of FMV games.
