Knack is higher than Mario and MH combined, sounds like a success
Does Famitsu tracks digital sales? If not this list is incomplete...
So the Japanese are mostly digitally downloading their games is what I am getting from the information in the OP.
digital sales?
....did Nintendoland come with the Premium bundle at launch?
:laughs:
Add another 15% at most. It's probably closer to 10%.

10% seems kinda high IMO.:laughs:

Before releasing digital sales, you dont know this.
And yeah, Ive owned EU console ~1 month and I havent bought single game. Just dlc continent to games (Zen PB 2).
So around half of all Japanese PS4 owners bought zero games at launch?

Top5 PS4 launch software numbers from Famitsu.
1. Knack - 322,083 (PS4 First Limited Pack bundles)
2. Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin - 73,086
3. Battlefield 4 - 26,878
4. Killzone Shadowfall - 25,978
5. Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends - 13,576
Knack is only #1 because that's the total number of PS4 units sold in the launch weekend. I don't think the game is available separately yet since they're giving it away with every console sold right now. Attach rates in general seem pretty awful all things considered.

Why are Japanese digital sales generally low? Is it because they often prefer to trade in their physical retail games ?
Look at the those KZ numbers. I guess Japan doesn't like shooters.
I know, I even posted so on the first page. Just kidding of course.Knack is bundled for free with all consoles. Mario & MH were not
Not sure where you're getting that from when BF4 and KZ are effectively #2 and #3 in retail PS4 software salesLook at the those KZ numbers. I guess Japan doesn't like shooters.
Knack: A game so good that every Japanese PS4 owner bought it.Knack is higher than Mario and MH combined, sounds like a success
So they bought the console to play...what exactly? FFXIV?
Knack is bundled for free with all consoles. Mario & MH were not
NSMBU was included in every bundle, but Wii Party U bundle was a choice among a few. We simply have no way of knowing(sales data wise) if Japan is interested in Knack.I know, I even posted so on the first page. Just kidding of course.
Still, I feel like it deserves to be counted, just as other bundled games do. Case in point, the Wii U holiday bundle with NSMB and Wii Party.
I'm also pretty sure it and the F2P FFXIV beta had an effect on overall software sales, as many people would first check out the free stuff they got, especially because there's no killer app yet.

Well, to be fair, If I were given a PS4 I would only be interested in playing Resogun. Do they get that with PS+ in Japan too?

I expected Ishin to do at least twice of that, to be honest. It seemed like the only title with much Japanese mainstream appeal. So when I saw the system sales, I figured it was going cross 100k with ease.

1 Star: Available on the bundled version. Too much to expect. Games only button roll proceed stage for children. There is only the contents of about 980 yen. What can be achieved in the PS3. I've been sad this is considered a soft launch representative of Japan. I think it's soft you do not buy the non-bundled.
So in Japan at the moment PS4 is used as a Knack player or a door-stop.
Not to say Knack isnt a deciding factor for some people but theres a difference between a launch bundle and a holiday bundle. People who wanted a PS4 would get Knack whether or not they wanted it, Wii Party/NSMB bundle came and boosted WiiU sales after weeks of mediocre ones showing that people actually wanted those games. But even without the bundle I think Knack would have debuted in the Top 5 over there, just on the lower end.
And I agree, when you get free stuff accompanying your purchase you kinda hold out. My friend didnt buy anything with his WiiU cause it came with Nintendoland. He probably would have bought something else had it not come with the game which could be the same situation here.

Absolutely horrible figures. People are buying the console due to hype/expectations only?
It's the early adopters who want the new tech.
