Somebody seriously nominated the Brawl version of the FE theme and didn't label it as such?

I fixed the link, but the existing votes for that one are getting tossed out. Too bad, but I'm not going to let them count for the NES version because they sound completely different. - Really low turnout. Either GAF is getting bored with this contest, or GAF doesn't care about Final Fantasy.
- I didn't bother voting this time, but most of the FF songs that I really liked and was already familiar with made it, while the other stuff I liked had no chance of reaching the top 10.
- A hearty "ha ha" for everyone who kept pestering me to include Wandering Flame in the nomination thread. It only managed to reach 36th place, below all the other FFX songs. :p

Another great round. Voted for Grim Fandango, Mystical Ninja, Goldeneye and God of War tunes.

As for the previous, Final Fantasy-littered list, I was disappointed in the selection of FFVI tracks. It's one of my all time favourite soundtracks, and my number one was Terra's Theme, but the other songs imo weren't nearly among the best of what that game has to offer. Aria de Mezzo... was already mentioned, but there are other gems as well such as Shadow's Theme, Cyan's Theme, etc.

Same goes for Grim Fandango, that game has THE BEST song in any game ever, and it didn't make the cut :(

I'm guessing the former. It is quite the process.

And the results are prety good this round. One-Winged Angel beating Dancing Mad 4 though? Crimes against humanity.

All of my beloved FFVII tracks are there, with Main Theme and Aeris' Theme taking 2 and 3 respectively. Terra taking the top spot is something I can totally live with. Overall, a very satisfying round. :D

I'm excited for this round, too! Goemon, Gitaroo Man, etc.

WTF? I haven't played a single game on that list but alot of those songs were pretty meh to decent when I first listened to them. I mean some of the stuff like Terra's Theme was awesome but stuff like FF7 Theme? FF8 music? They weren't great at all :/

Low number of voters has probably mainly something to do with TGS and the fact that the thread is not stickied. I wouldn't have expected any different results, though. Which were totally predictable. And I hate them, generic FF crap everywhere (edit: sorry that's perhaps too harsh, some of them are good), non-FF-stuff without any chance, Terra's theme was the only saving grace. But if it's a "good" game (FF7 I'm looking at you), it must have good music, right?

Will listen and vote for current set tomorrow.

Gitaroo Man was my awesome discovery this round.

Between "The Long Distance of Murder" "Fall Down to the Scream" "Devil's Call in Your Heart" and "Climb Up! And Get the Last Chance!" F-Zero X definitely wins the Most Awesome Track Name competition.

For the upcoming set I think "Grand Theft Auto 4 - Arm In Arm (Shy Child Mix)" needs to be removed as its a remix of a licensed song (which itself is licensed). I'm not sure how it could be considered as made for the game when the Boggs released it on their album a year before the game's release.

Yeah, that's one of the songs that had been flagged earlier.

I let the person who brought that to my attention (as well as a couple of other problem songs) suggest replacements. The GTA4 track is going to be replaced with The Sims - Since We Met.

On that note I'm interested about Garou: Mark of the Wolves - Rock Howard's theme (Spread the Wings) as I was sure I had heard it before and sure enough a Robert Miles song called Children was mentioned in the youtube comments. So is it just a rip off or was a part of it licenced or is it simply coincidence? Is their any history to this? Kind of seems to be in a bit of a grey area in either case.

And I just noticed I was 10 when that song came out, now I feel real old which I should have felt much earlier considering all the NES music we have to listen to in this thread.

Man what a horrible set this time, some real classics left out (again). Watch Sony GAF muck this one up and get the God Of War soundtracks in the top 10 even though they're pretty standard compositions. I'm not saying they don't sound great, they do, they're just nothing special.

It seems like every other track on the soundtrack is actually a combination of multiple songs from the game, and I think that's going to translate into an unfair advantage for some of them when the next round of voting starts.

Oh well.

I honestly don't think I'd vote anything off Super Metroid. Maybe Brinstar. I'm trying voting for songs that don't require the context of the game to stand out. That makes it an uphill fight for the really subdued stuff which play off the game environments.

- Turnout is about the same as last time.
- I could've stood to see a little more variety in these results. There were a lot of worthy games to pick from, yet Goldeneye + Grim get all 3 of their tracks into the top 10.
- The Fire Emblem theme suffered from a penalty early in this round. Someone noticed that the version submitted was the Brawl remix, and since Brawl has its own 3 songs nominated for this contest, I replaced the FE theme with the original NES version and discarded the early votes that it had already received. I don't remember the exact score it had accumulated at this point, but I don't *think* it would have been enough to break the top 10 in the end.
- I need to run through the existing results lists to be sure of the numbers, but there seems to be a lot of music from Western-developed games making it into the finals. I remember this being something of an argument earlier in the contest.

If it wasn't for the Goldeneye tracks sweeping in I'd probably agree with this list alot.

I think I've been "that guy" more than once in this contest.

The stuff I nominate seems to be either top-5 or rock-bottom material. Very little in between.

Grim Fandango has the best soundtrack of any game, like, ever! It's a crime they're not placed first, second and third!
