I'd prefer Dreams in a Pie from Napple Tale over Folly Fall. I think Dreams in a Pie is a better song, and though it's not likely either song is going to crack the top 10 with all those Mega Man songs, I have to think it would have a much better chance than Folly Fall.

- Not sure what the fascination is with water level BGMs. I never thought Buoy Base or Dire Dire Docks were all that hot. Didn't care much for Gusty Garden either, but I expected that one to dominate.
- We're about at the halfway point for the first part of the contest. :3

Round 11 is up. As said previously, this round will last an extra day to make up for the late start.

I kind of agree and kind of don't about the water level thing. I absolutely LOVE "Dire, Dire Docks," but "Buoy Base Galaxy" wasn't nearly as exciting for me. Glad to see that the SMW Ending placed well--SO good. :D

NMH is just too repetitive to be good. The general theme is great, but it just repeats that over...and over....

Uh, had very little time his week, but finally got to my vote although I didn't spend as much time on it as usual. So not many votes yet for this set? Too bad, it's decent.

First commenting on the results of the last set: Somewhat predictable that It'd be filled with Mario, but also sad. Monkey IslandMonty got robbed. :( Strange comments about water levels above. The quality of music normally isn't dependent on such attributes. Knew Buoy Base would lose to Wind Garden, but also to Dire Dire Docks? Meh. And of course there's stuff in the top 10 I never wanted it to, like Mario Galaxy Bowser Battle (the beginning was deceiving) and the Airship theme (man, that's super-boring).

After some sort of a drought, finally a real surprise again in this set: The Neverhood - Klaymen's Theme. A very nice laid back song with strong bass and cool vocals. Regarding Mega Man, I like the music of the newer games (Mega Man ZX Advent seems to have high quality music in general) more than that of the older ones (well, Wily 1 is pretty good). It's no Gradius and no Castlevania, but some songs are very nice to the ear nevertheless. Kind of disappointed about Nights. I heard a very good tune a while back (something with the end of a level), but that wasn't nominated. I hoped for the other Nights stuff to live up to it, but it didn't. Finally, Ordyne (nominated this, you need CD quality, headphones and high volume) and Moon Patrol won't make it, sad but true. Same goes for the already mentioned Klaymen, obviously.

I'm really not impressed with any of them that I've listened to. A lot of them seem to start strong but then wear out their welcome really quickly in some fashion or another.

Alright, substitution suggestion time.

Metroid Prime, I'd take out Underwater Frigate and swap it with Tallon Overworld 2 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Ky2BMVWfs ). Underwater Frigate is waaaay too mellow and seems to be more like atmospheric noise than an actual track. I'm honestly surprised Underwater Frigate was even nominated.

Metroid Prime 2, I'd take out Submerged Temple because it's basically just a remix of Red Soil Brinstar from Super Metroid, which is also nominated. One of them should be taken out because of the redundancy, and I like the Super Metroid version better. I'd use either Temple Grounds ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=7ZX2N9_7NO8 ) or Emperor Ing 2 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d5pRyQp7BA ) as the substitute.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, I'm not sure if this is possible since there were only two songs nominated for it, but I'd like to swap Bridge Fight with The Tower of Dawn ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=900nsR8w2II ). I'll understand if that has to wait until the late nominations round.

BTW, I noticed that the third entry for Shadow of the Colossus (The Opened Way) no longer has a valid link. Could I suggest replacing it with the intro to the same game (To the Ancient Land, I think?). I know part of it is contained in the ending that is already listed, but the intro is what first timers will hear and sets the tone for the rest of the game. It's here:

The results: :( as usual. The only song that actually deserves to be in the Top Ten is No. 1.The other places are mostly clogged up with random Megaman crap. What a shame.

That set was easier to order than the sets before it, so my list is longer than usual. I'm kind of disappointed by Metal Gear and Okami overall, especially the latter, since the trailer music was so awesome. But I don't know if that was used inside the game. Metal Gear has at least the title themes to MGS2 and MGS3 which are also by far the best two songs in the whole set. Strangely, the version of Snake Eater I like best is from one of the trailers. I even bought the soundtrack, but that version wasn't on it. From the other games, Outrun stands out the most, but I got the feeling some important tunes were left out in the nomination list. (I don't know the games too well). And Outlaws is a nice surprise. Although you could argue copying Ennio Morricone is kind of cheap, it brings enough individual character to the table to stand on it's own in it's full right. Recommendations also go to Pocky & Rocky, very charming.

Pft. MM2 Wily 1 is the most overrated MM tune in all forever. It made my list, but it was below both of the other MM2 tracks.

It's the only one that's somewhat worthwhile due to it's iconic feel, but it's still far from great. Maybe I should've placed Moon Patrol higher.

Edit: Oh, just saw the wrong Wily 1 is in my post, I hope I *voted* for the right one. Going to correct it now.

Jeez man. You think Cornered, Duck Tales - The Moon, and MM2 Wily 1 are all overrated.

Methinks you have a personal bias against upbeat, iconic, retro-style Capcom tracks. I'm not sure why that is but it seems to be the case!

Why the hell don't the mods want to sticky this thread? I really think this needs a sticky+revote. GAF creates has barely any posts and it's been stickied for sooo long.

While I made an effort to listen to most of the tracks, my intense dislike of all Megaman that isn't 8-bit Megaman may have influenced my picks just a tad.

I asked for a sticky once a few weeks ago and don't really feel like begging the mods for it.

Most of the Megaman X tracks were pretty mediocre I'd say. The lack of Megaman ZXA is pretty bad though. Those were great.

Good round right here. Sometimes it's very easy for me to rank the songs top-down, as there are usually a few the stand high above the others. Not so here. This time there was a bunch of equally great songs. Good diversity of games, too.

The next set will go up late this evening (in about 8 hours or so) as usual. Turnout for this group is a little better than the last one so far, but not by much. The results are also a little tighter (only 27 points separate the current #7 from the #14 right now), so a lot of things can still move in an out of the top 10 by tonight.

One of them should be taken out because of the redundancy, and I like the Super Metroid version better. I'd use either Temple Grounds ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=7ZX2N9_7NO8 ) or Emperor Ing 2 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d5pRyQp7BA ) as the substitute.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, I'm not sure if this is possible since there were only two songs nominated for it, but I'd like to swap Bridge Fight with The Tower of Dawn ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=900nsR8w2II ). I'll understand if that has to wait until the late nominations round.

EDIT: Maybe this thread would have greater visibility if I'd kick the habit of posting major updates after 11PM EST. Meh.
