Gay GAf! Get in here! What do you want in a Lifestyle Blog?

Helllooooooo Gay Gaf!

I'm in the process of organizing a gay lifestyle blog/video site (non porn). The idea is that it's not just a run of the mill gay rag aimed at the super rich or snobby. It's for regular guys. Right now i'm thinking about a few video features such as

Follow Me: Follow one guy around with a camera to different clubs and bars each week. (reality type)

The Mind of: Get inside the mind of Drag queens, Go Go boys, bartenders, Pimps. (comedy)

Gaming/tech/movie Features. Obviously

I'm not trying to go too serious as far as news reporting or anything like that. Just a light humored blog with original content.

I guess there would also be product reviews...and hot photo shoots.

I'm looking for feedback. What would you guys want out of a site like this? what would you add or subtract?

Gay gaf it the best...that's why I care.

I want to hear the latest in bottom/top dynamics. Also, I want to hear who the best bottoms in the celebrity (maybe videogame celebs?) world are and who the best tops.
I'm not gay though. I just like to hear about it.

Yeah of course but stuff like "Bottoms in the Media: A case study of Army of Two", too. Hard hitting journalism along with Cosmo lists.

1) Hilarious craigslist add of the week!
2) Ask a porn star.

Sounds great so far actually.

Actually we have decided that we were actually going to film craigslist posts like a dating video service.

There will be stuff like that but it won't be like flowery crap or anything. It's a blog for dudes...that like other dudes..

I was kidding. Please don't include that stuff.

B!TCH

how are you, B!TCH? How is your day going, B!ITCH?
Ask a gay dude!

I have so many questions.

Like, where are all the gay people in DC?

It'd be interesting to highlight things to do when you're gay that don't involve getting liquored up at some nightclub.

There seems to be so little to do otherwise :lol

I'm not gay so I don't know but I'm pretty sure that the only thing they do, that's different than what straight people do...is bang people of the same gender. They're not a different species, man.

I love travelogues. Especialy by people who know the places well (esp. the gay life there).

Yes. Especially if you've been to places like Japan where this kind of things may not be so obvious.

all i do is party

im looking forward to the blog! you should have polls on it. i want to know what my fellow gays really like/hate.

Cars and gadgets. They're the two things that always get forgotten by the gay mags and existing blogs/sites.

Just because I love the cock doesn't mean I don't also love Audi's and Bugatti's…

OH OH OH and if you're gonna have anything to do with fashion, you must must MUST include a link (or at least contact details) of where the items can actually be bought.

I don't want anything out of a gay lifestyle blog (or any "lifestyle" blog for that matter). Is it really necessary to see a website talk about things that interest me... but with men? I don't watch car commercials and think, "Gee, that's a nice-looking car and a good price, but it appears to be aimed at breeders! I could never see myself and my hypothetical partner in a straight-oriented vehicle!"

I do - either cater to my every gay whim or GTFO.

wtf? lol i don't think you're getting the point. why do you visit neogaf? because you are a gamer. why would you visit a blog for gays? because you're gay. it just happens to be a blog by gay people for gay people.

and btw most advertisements and movies, etc. are directed towards the heterosexual audience because they are the larger audience.

Sorry, I'll pass. Too much pandering to the same bullshit "scene" and not really offering anything to those outside it. Same failing as all other gay lifestyle blogs and magazines.
It's like gay people think being different is over-rated or something, I dunno...

He mentioned interviewing go-go boys... I'm sorry, but there's no need to give those boys any more attention than they already have.
I guess I was just hoping for something actually different. Not just a repackaging of the same rainbow-colored tripe.

I don't like being a hater, but I've gotta agree with Terrell. It's almost a bit condescending of an idea, actually.

I'm sure Terrell and I are in the minority in the gay community, though. I'm sure there are tons of gays who will be like "OMG VIDEOGAMEZ AND HALF NAKED DOODZ... DO WANT"

I'm pretty sure I've seen that in a porn. It's about a plumber who comes to a house to fix the pipe and finds out that only the college-going son of the owner is home. He's in the middle of playing video games wearing only underwear....

Who plays videogames only wearing their underwear?

Basically, yeah. Hit it on the head. Our sub-culture still thinks it's the 1970s and that being an insular unadaptable farce that exists outside of the rest of society is still acceptable. It's kind of a joke that so many people take the bait and get caught up in this "other world". I'd prefer to stay in the REAL one, to be quite honest.

Dude, Terrell, the whole 'meh gay culture meh' attitude really isn't progressive or smart?

I mean, go jack off to some 'straight guy' self-loathing porn or something, lol.

I don't mean to go and create a debate about this (especially in this poor guy's thread, haha), but.... uh, no.

Gay people who don't feel the need to proclaim it from the top of a mountain are NOT self-loathing.

Not everyone feels the need to be a part of some "We're here, we're queer, get u-- HEY WE SAID WE'RE GAYYYYYY EVERYBODY LOOK AT US" mob. Being gay is one of the many characteristics that make me me. I don't feel the need to single out my sexual preference as the very core of my identity, and I don't think it's something worthy of building a subculture around.

If you reallly pushed me, I'd go as far as to say the gays who build their identity around 'being gay' are the truly self-loathing ones.

I concur. I have nothing against them personally, but I feel as though basing who you are as a person exclusively on your sexuality is a bit shallow.

Think about it this way: does anyone like someone who is always going around, claiming how much he loves pussy every five minutes? It's the same with us imho.

I agree with you, with the caveat that sometimes straight people use this reasoning as an excuse to say ANY expression of homosexuality (holding a boyfriend's hand in public, a peck on the cheek upon meeting up with them, etc) is "throwing it in their face" and then not applying the same logic to heterosexual relationships.

Obviously you weren't saying that or meaning to say that (for multiple reasons). I'm completely comfortable with my sexuality, and I mean that in the sense you seem to, that I feel I'm no different than a straight guy except I like and love others guys romantically and sexually rather than women.

Really, if anything what would be interesting to me is if TheWiiCast did a somewhat ironic show - "The Gay Lifestyle"... and it was just about a normal, typical, average guy that happened to get up in the morning every day and do what anyone else would.
